This charmingly renovated century home boasts of a state-of-the-art kitchen and modern bathrooms. It is just off the Interstate and in the heart of historic Grandview, less than 20 min from downtown Kansas City, sports complex, shopping, and the best BBQ in the USA. The Songbird House sleeps up to 14 guests and features a unique music/game room for creating musical memories with your friends/family and all the amenities you’d expect in a home away from home, no matter how long you plan to stay!
The space
Modern finishes. The main level features a King primary bedroom with an ensuite bath and queen bedroom, Living, Dining room, kitchen, office, laundry, and powder room. The upper level features the music/game room with two large bean bags that each convert to queen beds to sleep 4 as needed, a 70" smart TV with an Xbox Series X and other board games, another full bath, a queen bed room, and large room with 4 single twin beds. The back porch features a hammock and outdoor seating.

Loved it, kids played video games, the downstairs master bedrooms bed is SOOO comfortable. Big kitchen and back porch. I will definitely be staying here again.

Check in was a breeze, house was clean and very nicely decorated! A fun bunk room upstairs for the kids to hang out and sleep in.

Unable to review - Host double booked.

Host double booked and located a substitute rental. Initially selected property for 6 beds, 15 minutes round trip to destinations, and bathtub to bathe toddlers. Substitute property had 3 beds, no bathtub and 90 minute round trip. Host did not respond after making arrangements. Accomodations so unsatisfactory that we ended our schedule stay early.

Small town feel with big city convenience.

This is a well kept property conveniently located in a quiet area. It has a small town feel and is an easy drive to big city museums, restaurants, and entertainment. For our group, it was a perfect stay for a weekend game at Arrowhead Stadium. It also would be great place to stay for a family wirh children visiting Kansas City.

Great place in Grandview

Great place in a quiet neighborhood just 2 or 3 minutes from I49. Great yard for the pup too. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

Overall

Kids enjoyed the little cubby holes in the house. Upstairs bathroom a little small but very useable.Backyard nice but to cold to go out, lots of space. Close to many restaurants, shopping and stadiums.

Great location

Owner was easy to work with. We had a few requests including laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, setup an extra bed, etc. The owners were able to accommodate all our requests in a timely manner. Checkin and checkout procedures were also very simple.

Spring Break/ Easter

The property was just as it was advertised. We had plenty of room for all of us. The children really enjoyed the room upstairs with the slanted roof! Everything we needed was provided by the owner. We were close to train tracks, so you would hear the train on occasion during the night, but other than that it was a quiet neighborhood.

Great landing spot for our weekend troop KC trip

We needed a place to stay for the weekend KC trip that our girls planned for themselves. This location worked out well, plenty of space for our two vehicles, no issues getting in the door, and plenty of beds for our adults and girls. The kitchen had enough dishes for our group of 10 with some to spare, so that worked out well for our breakfast before we left each morning. I had contacted the host a few times with questions and they responded very quickly, I appreciated that. If I had any complaints, it would be that two of the curtain rods needed a little fixing when we got there, two of the hangers need to be reattached. Nothing that interrupted our stay, just didn't want anything thing we damaged them. Overall, I was pleased and I would stay there again.

Disappointing business trip

This trip was a 1-night stay for me and 4 of my staff. The house is older and overall nice and tidy, but lacking in necessary amenities. We had reserved the house for 5 adults, but there were not sufficient towels. We were asked to strip the sheets and towels, and start washing, but no detergent provided (we saw other reviewers with the same comment). The house had not been cooled prior to our arrival, and since outside temps were near 100 degrees, the upstairs bedrooms were very hot and uncomfortable. We felt the mandatory cleaning fee, service and insurance fees were not appropriate for our one-night stay, especially since we were asked to do a majority of the cleaning. These were the highest fees I have ever encountered for similar type rentals. The outside trash cans were completely full, so taking out the trash was difficult. The insurance fees were never mentioned on the website until checkout and then it was a mandatory $59 for a policy, or put down a $1500 deposit which they clearly stated may not be returned. The outside landscaping included several dead bushes and overgrown grass in areas. Traffic on the road was pretty busy. We did not have any contact with the owner.

Great experience overall but a few interesting features

Overall we had an amazing stay me and a close friend of mine bought our 6 kids down to see the sights of Kansas City. The bedroom layouts worked really well for us and we were able to fit everyone at the table for meals. We do have some food restrictions in our group so we ate almost all of the meals at the house. The kitchen wasn’t super well stocked and the pans don’t have insulation on the handles so my friend burned her hand a little but not a deal breaker by any means! We had to call to get dishwasher soap and batteries (for the tv remotes) because the bottle had dawn dish soap in it instead of dishwasher soap. After contacting the owner they provided dishwasher soap and batteries. The only real complaints we had were the upstairs shower and laundry only have hot water plumbing. So even though the dryer was set to cold our clothes were washed in hot. Also we had to use the master bathroom to shower all six kids because the water upstairs got so hot we were worried they would get burned. But the bathtub is in the master and the 3 youngest still take baths so it wasn’t too big of a deal. The other funny thing we found was the remotes for the ceiling fans work in all the rooms so if you wanted to turn on the light it would sometimes turn on 3 different lights or all but the light you were trying to turn on. Not a big deal if you didn’t want the ceiling fans on because you could just use the wall switch instead. If the hot water upstairs was fixed I would stay again.

One of our favorite parts of traveling is experiencing different cultures - the food, the city, the people. We hope to bring the unique Midwest (USA) experience to our VRBO guests. There are many unique and fun things to experience in the Kansas City area. Food- We are famous for the best barbeque around as well as some of the best local restaurants in the nation! Attractions - We are only 2 minutes to the highway, 15 minutes to the famed KC Chiefs/Royals stadiums, historic downtown, a thriving music/arts district and SO much more!

The Songbird House is located in downtown historic Grandview, MO in a very peaceful and scenic neighborhood. Walking distance to great coffee shops and eateries and a 30-second drive to the Interstate making everywhere in the metro area accessible within minutes.

We are a family of musicians who see music as a means to bond, connect, and have fun. So we wanted to create a space for guests to do the same. The Songbird house features a music room that houses an acoustic guitar, a cajon, and a full-sized keyboard as well as a 70" TV connected to an Xbox X for fun and games. When not in use as a music/game room, it converts to double queen beds for sleeping up to 4 people! This house is a must-see!
