Great escape from the city - quiet solitude in nature with a beautiful very private pool to cool off in hot weather. The house is eclectic, comfortable and the kitchen is well appointed for cooking. Many outside decks to hang out on. Sonoma beaches nearby. Marie is hands on but respects your privacy. We hope to visit again.
We have stayed here five times over the past few years, Marie continues to be a consistently responsive and gracious host with excellent and eclectic taste . Pay attention to the hearst castle like bathroom downstairs. The frogs at night always bring us back .
Beautiful property with a unique and lovingly decorated cabin. We loved all the little details, and the pool was heaven on a hot day. Pro tip- bug repellent is a must for hanging out on the deck in the evening.
I love this place. My second time in this house. Marie, the owner is super hospitable, and the place is incredible. Great place to go if you really want to get away from it all. Absolutely beautiful.
Listing stated âstainless front door entranceâ. House has 2 stone stairs with no handrails. I wear leg braces for a neurological condition making those stairs unacceptable. I immediately returned to my home in LA - a 9 hour round trip. Hostâs only response was âI give no refundsâ BEWARE!!!
Such a welcoming and beautiful mountain home, peaceful and secluded, with beautiful views from the many decks, terraces and patios. Comfort and peace, and a place I would definitely return to. Great owner!
A lovely, secluded area which was a perfect weekend getaway for us from the city. This very unique house, carefully decorated with years of collected furniture and art work has everything you need including a hot tub under the stars! Maria made sure to even call us before the trip and explain in detail what all were available in the house. Would definitely come back to this beautiful place and location.
Words cannot describe how beautiful and serene this property is, along with one of the most attentive host you could ask for. Between the wonderful art work, stained glass and Tiffany lights the interior is nothing like you have experienced before. The acreage surrounding the property gives you a feeling of total seclusion, but help is there right away if you need it. The Pool and Jacuzzi are perfect and rare for the area. There is wonderful hiking along the 40+ acres and a Creek to relax by. I cannot express how much we loved the property and appreciated Marie the host. Take your time driving up the road, and you must bring plenty of supplies. Mainly because you might not want to leave!
Thank you Marie!
Sanctuaire is a beautiful escape into nature. My sister and I just spent 5 peaceful days and nights surounded by a very serene bit of the world. We really immersed ourselves and feel like we've been to a retreat. Marie is the perfect host...available but very unobtrusive. She is a lovely person and only added to our stay.
We loved every minute of our star and we were not ready to go home after spending 3 nights. If you are looking for a sanctuary to y your cup and reconnect with nature this is for you. Thank you Marie for sharing this place and your beautiful energy.
This place was just what we needed to recharge away from the city. Come here to get away from the busy work life. Itâs very peaceful and quiet. Iâll miss waking up to the family of dears every morning. Will for sure come back.
We spent a few lovely days here. Enjoyed curling up on the chaise near the fire with a book. If you love Victoriana you will appreciate the beautiful stained glass. Walls of windows to enjoy the view but total privacy. Be sure to enjoy the walk to the onsite creekside respite. We will be back in the summer so we can enjoy the outdoors here!
This property was spectacular, both inside the house and throughout the spacious grounds. The attention to detail was evident everywhere. Our family of four adults had plenty of room to relax, cook and enjoy the views from every room. We took walks to the creek on the property and enjoyed the hot tub in the rain. We hope to go back during the warm season and make use of the pool as well!
This sweet property deep in the woods is such a gem. When we showed up for a girls weekend the entire property was covered in shasta daisies! We spent three days utterly blissed out, reading by the pool, soaking in the hot tub, and eating meals on the deck. Highly recommend the walk down to the creek, especially if you have dogs. Itâs a beautiful place for recharging, bird watching, reconnecting with friends, and we are all desperate to return as soon as possible!
We had a wonderful stay at Cazadero. This is a truly unique property. The wood used to build the house gives it an older feel but the modern kitchen and bathrooms are wonderful to use. The main deck is huge and there are outdoor sitting areas off all the bedroom spaces. The pool and hot tub were delightful but the secluded feeling of the property was our favorite feature. We did not hear another voice or see another person the entire stay. We loved it.
Marie is a wonderful and accommodating host. When you stay in her home, it is like you are part of her artwork, her masterpiece is the house she built herself. It is very unique and cozy and brings out the best in everyone who is sleeping there. The house is in the middle of the woods, so you have a few spiderwebs and leaves in the house - but to be expected. My husband and I had a wonderful time away just the two of us without the kids. Thank-you again Marie!
Property pictures are very aged. We did NOT stay, the whole experience was bizarre. In sharing our experience with others, multiple people knew of the property and had stories of their own to tell. Property owner did refund, but got nothing back from VRBO
There's no way to describe the feeling our family had as we arrived, the home and property looked nearly unreal. This is one time that the pictures shown on VRBO underplayed the experience of what it's like just to take it all in. If you want perfection, be advised that there are a few janky things to get the hang of (shower knobs falling off, limited storage options, some latches that don't close cabinets, etc) but otherwise...just...wow. The home is wild, and beautiful, and fun. The property is vast, open and extremely quiet. This was a home I hope to return to again and again. One of a kind.
If your looking to get away from the rat race of the city, this sanctuary is the place to be! The owner, Marie, was VERY accommodating to anything we needed and a gracious host. This 27 acres is nestled beautifully in Cazadero, with sprawling endless views of the magnificent forest surroundings. The salt water pool was very refreshing since we visited during a heat wave into the 100's. The hot tub was just as refreshing, especially for star gazing into the clear nights. The muscical chirping of the frogs from the pond at night just captivated the whimsical serenity of this gorgeous sanctuary. Our week stay was storybook picturesque. To be far I feel I need to share and remind folks you are in a forest and a good 30-40 minutes to a gas station or full grocery store. There is a small grocery/deli in Cazadero that had delicious homemade desserts and made fantastic sandwiches, and had various odds and ends to get by. Encountering critters of various sizes is just nature doing it's thing, whether inside or out. I feel it should also be noted that the sanctuary is decorated beautifully with endless ornate/antique furniture and Tiffany lamps, so definitely not appropriate for roaming hands of a toddler or mischief child to run, jump and play. Because our stay was during a heat wave the owner did her due diligence to try an cool the top portion of the home with various devices, but perhaps investing in an a/c unit would be more economical.
I am semi-retired and I live on the property. Truth is, it's a full time job maintaining, cleaning, and updating Sanctuaire. But, it is my labor of love. I truly love having guest's that also enjoy nature.
Sanctuaire is a secluded beautiful Victorian-style home that can accommodate up to 5 people. The home is surrounded by 30 acres of oaks, redwoods, hills, and creeks with views that take your breath away. The only neighbors are birds, squirrels, other non-threatening wildlife!
Sanctuaire is most unique because of its seclusion from the hectic world. Surrounded by 30 acres of tress, creeks, and hills, total privacy awaits you.
