Welcome to Captain's Quarters, a quintessential oceanfront cottage that's stunningly situated just north of the Rodanthe Pier. Here you can go from watching TV with the waves crashing in the background to surfing those exact same waves in minutes.

This home sits on the backside of a cul-de-sac in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Under the home, you'll find ample space to park, an outdoor shower, a hose, a fish-cleaning station, and a grill. Two sets of stairs lead up to the wrap-around, oceanfront deck, which is fully furnished with high Adirondack chairs and a private hot tub. Enjoy gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean and a good look across Highway 12 to the sound at sunset.

As you enter, you'll find yourself in the kitchen and living area, where a dining table and an island breakfast bar provide plenty of seating. The kitchen is well-equipped, the living room is situated around a large TV, and sliding glass doors allow for a postcard-perfect view of the beach as you relax in the air conditioning.

The barracks at Captain's Quarters are made up of four bedrooms. The first is great for the kids with double bunks and a TV. The second has a king bed, a full bathroom, a TV, and a DVD player. The third bedroom features a king bed, a TV, a bathroom with shared access from the hallway, and an ocean view. The fourth bedroom is similar with a king bed, a full bathroom, a TV, and an ocean view. There's also a washer/dryer in the hallway closet.

Two dogs are welcome for a nightly fee.
The fireplace is not operational.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. Comfortable house in a perfect location

Great place to stay

Clean spacious..loved the veiw and quick access to the beach it also was great we could bring our dog with us he enjoyed the beach as much as we did would recommend to everyone!!! Thank you for giving us a great place to stay on our vacation !!🐾❤️

Spring Break Week

Exactly what we expected! Clean, functional, and listen to the waves all night. Great location close to Rodanthe pier. We got some beautiful sunrises. Saw a lot of great surfing. We will be back. My only suggestion for improvement. The outside charcoal Grille needs some TLC but other than that everything was perfect.

Cottage on the beach

We loved the convenience of the home. It’s so close to the beach. Three king size beds and one bedroom with double bunks was great! It was nice to have three bedrooms! Vacasa was quick to address any problems. The dishwasher didn’t work, they sent a guy to check it out. But it needs replaced. The shared pool was in the next town, we did take advantage of it a couple times but it was inconvenient being that far away. The hot tub was very nice we loved the view ❤️

Perfect location

The location can’t be beat! We enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the waves when we were not on the beach. Downside was the maintenance of the home. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets were all in disrepair. One of the kitchen drawers had fallen in on the lower one. I saw this mentioned in a review several months ago and it still had not been addressed. No screens on the door walls and most of the windows. Floors and windows were not washed when we arrived. We enjoyed our stay but were surprised that it was more run down than we expected. The furnishings are great and comfortable. We did not use the hot tub so I cannot comment on that feature.

You’ll get a better shower with the hoses by the car.

- 50% of the blinds were actually working/still together - 2/3 of the shower heads shot water at you literally like a garden hose. The last one you didn’t want to touch for fear the head would crumble out of the wall. -50/50 shot if the toilet/drain in the shower drained. The rest of the time, the toilet would just run. - AC died during the middle of the trip one morning, maintenance showed by the afternoon and said they contacted AC service. All day, no one came. Maintenance came back at 9 that night with only three window units. One room abandoned and living space unusable during heat. - AC service showed up at some point during the next day - Left side staircase was unusable and covered with overgrowth. Gigantic orb weave spider the side of your hand blocked the bottom entry to the staircase. You had a better chance to navigate through the fire ant infested sand to the other staircase while passing the land of forgotten/rusted toys and beach gear that may or may not give you tetanus - Coffee maker leaks all over kitchen counter. Assuming the one on top of the kitchen cabinets did the same and was banished there. - Giant stain on the carpet to the living room - Hot tub cover disintegrated into the hot tub… bits of blue pieces make a fun puzzle to pull out of the tub for the kids - Ceiling of master bedroom is just randomly coming down - If you want the same experience of vacuuming without actually vacuuming, then use the sand blaster 3000 that shoots sand everywhere

Great location, but...

The house has fantastic views with quick and easy access to the beach. However, the house has fallen into significant disrepair and is in dire need of basic maintenance. It doesn't appear that the air filter has been changed since last year and the dryer vent needs cleaned. There is plant overgrowth all around the house and is starting to take over the western side stairs. Instead of being wired three -way, the exterior lights are wired master -slave between inside switches and gray switches on the ground level making it difficult to figure out turning on the exterior lights. The deck is spongy in multiple locations, decking nails are popped up, and railing spindles are detached, all creating significant safety hazards. With the sand dune taking over the eastern side stairs, it is virtually impossible not to bring sand in the house. And while it is commendable that Vacasa wants renters to vacuum before they leave, this task requires a vacuum that is actually capable of cleaning the carpets and floors given the inability to keep sand out. The issue shower is the only shower with reasonable water pressure but the shower is surrounded by sand meaning you'll bring in sand whether you're going to the beach or showering outside. Inside, everything is very dated and showing significant wear. Drywall is peeling from the ceiling, screws are popping through drywall and there are drywall cracks around the shower surrounds. Considering the summer rental rate for this home, there is very little value to renting this home considering the condition it is in.

Location location

We loved everything about this place from the hot tub to everything you could possibly need and more for kitchen utensils. The waves crashing was amazing to fall asleep to and the dolphins swimming by daily were a pleasant sight to see. Would definitely return

The house is not the issue.

I hate public reviews, but I sent an email to vacasa and no one replied. Also, this is not Deane T it is his daughter, Brenda. The first thing I noticed was the urine stains on the carpets. The second thing I realized was that the satellite was not functioning. Made for a long week as my father is elderly and enjoys tv. I realized I could not fix it as the pole sustaining the satellite was broken in two and the dish was laying in the sand. I called dish after trying to sustain the dish wiyh what I had available, but they were no help bc I did not have the phone number to the account. When I called vacasa, I was ASSURED that a ticket would be put in and that HOPEFULLY they would get someone there that day...orrrr...maybe the next. No one. All week, no one. I know this because there were no additional footprints in the driveway, nor were there any additional tire tracks. So, my 87 year old father spent a lot of time sleeping when he wasn't watching the ocean or the DVDs I'd brought along. Usually, he is entertained with a football game or with tcm. I am very disappointed that vacasa couldn't even call me back to say they'd written this off as not a priority. I understand that it was Thanksgiving week and the place was very busy, but honestly? Not even a phone call? Friday night before our departure, I was scrolling through some of the other online reviews and stumble upon something ridiculous. 300 fee to have a hot tub sit there and not be used? At the end of the season? No one maintained it during the week, again...no footprints or tire tracks other than ours . It has never been used by us. Why are we paying the exhorberent 300 fee? Again, this is nothing about the house. We love it there. It is perfect for my father and I. There are other things I noticed about the home, but it is clearly abuse from disrespective tenants. If you are bringing dogs, bring cleaning solution with you...or vacasa should have the carpets cleaned from time to time and I'm sure that could be scheduled if a person cleaning the house communicates that to vacasa. Someone with a rug scrubber could clean that in the time from departure at 10am and check in at 5pm. Even spot-cleaned in that he is easily managed. When I tried to use the vacuum cleaner to tidy up before leaving, I noticed that it was very hard to push, as it is sruck on bare floors. That explains why when I dropped a slice of bread on the carpeting, there was white hair all over it. I get it that you might be short staffed as it seems the whole country is...but a little communication goes a very long way. We are still booked for Thanksgiving next year, we love this little house. Please. Vacasa...DO something.

Amazing location!!

This house has a ton of aspects to recommend it! The location is fantastic. The kitchen is well stocked and a very good size. There are basic amenities provided to get you started (tp, soap, dish detergent). There are plenty of books and games available. The beds are comfy, and there’s plenty of space for about 10 people. My biggest complaints would be related to house maintenance. The air filter had clearly not been changed in a LONG time, and it seems likely that the dryer vent exhaust hasn’t been cleaned out in quite a while, either. These things impacted our stay only minimally. So, overall, the house was excellent for our weeklong vacation!

Couldn't be better

We've been coming to OBX for quite a while and this house has to be the nicest place We've stayed in so far. We wish we could stay there again, but the new realtor will only allow 2 dogs and we have 3.

Great location!

The location of this home can’t be beat- just a few steps over the dune, and you are right there on the beach. The view from the deck is outstanding! The home is comfortable, and love the three king beds. All that said, the home has a lot of wear and tear and also wasn’t super pleased with the cleaning the home had before we got there. Found the local Vacasa team helpful only after I called.

Beach lover's dream house!

Located behind a protective dune, the house's wrap-around porch offers sweeping views of the ocean and the coastal sky. The common area rooms are quite spacious, as are the three bedrooms with the queen beds. The bunkbed room is smaller but perfect for the youngsters. The kitchen is well-equipped but it would have been nice to have staples like coffee filters, salt/pepper(!), and a few surface cleaning supplies provided. The house is generally in good shape, but there are no window screens and the blinds were a wreck although we didn't have them down much! The week we were there the hot-tub cover was missing so we contacted the local team to let them know and they were super helpful and friendly. We will definitely return!!!!

Perfect location

The location of the home is perfect, down 10 stairs and over a sand dune to the water! We loved the home. It’s layout is great, the beds were very comfortable and the deck view is the best! My only complaint is the shower heads, they need replaced badly. The previous guests had issues with the hot tub cover and it had not been replaced yet but the hot tub was still usable. The house was clean on our arrival we enjoyed our stay very much.

Great view but house needs maintenance

The location is ideal, house is well used. The toilet in the bathroom lifts off the floor on one side, Refrigerator went out and continues to beep with the door shut. We’ll stocked kitchen. Blinds are all broken. With the price hike next year (all new fee schedules) not worth the money price nearly doubled for the same week next year.

Great stay at Captains Quarters

This house was right on the beach and it was a walk over the dune right on the beach. The rooms were spacious all decorated beautifully. The hot tub was the best…ocean view while enjoying drinks in the hot tub. High top chairs made the deck a great spot to sit and enjoy views of the ocean. This house was clean, beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. They allow dogs in this house and the large deck had gates on either side keeping the dogs on the deck which was great! Would stay here again!

The home was clean, wonderfully stocked with kitchen equipment. Perfectly located on the beach. The rooms were large, the beds were comfortable. We will definitely be booking again.
