How You Dune? Beautiful Retreat with Hot Tub

When you step off the ferry, exhale. And know within minutes you’ll be living the island life. Convenient location to all beaches and marina/ferry, our beautiful family friendly home is the perfect getaway. We have an open floor plan with large kitchen, dining area, and family room with high ceilings and lots of natural light. Off the family room is a screened-in porch that feels like you’re up in your very own treehouse. Just below is a spacious deck with a warm bubbly hot tub. Your dreamy getaway awaits!

Our home has an upstairs master suite with king bed, a downstairs master suite with a queen bed, third bedroom with bunk beds (two twins on top with two queens underneath), and a fourth room with day bed and trundle (and a pocket door to close it off), and a crofter over the garage with another king suite.

We provide three golf carts (two four-seaters and one six-seater) and six beach bikes for your stay (two have child carriers). Guest memberships to Bald Head Island Club and Shoal’s Club are available for separate purchase*.
Our house is in a great location- close to restaurants, shopping, Old Baldy lighthouse, the marina, and beach or surf fishing locations. Everything on the island is a short golf-cart ride away!

Our home includes a warm hot tub, private hot and cold outdoor shower, Apple TV, Sonos Speakers, and high speed WiFi.

We fell in love with Bald Head Island the first time we came and we love sharing its beauty and uniqueness with others. Leave your cars and your worries behind and be our guest on Bald Head Island!

Great location

Stayed at the house for a wedding weekend in October with three other friends. House was clean and in good shape and the location is excellent for being near the ferry.

Another amazing BHI trip!

This was a great property to enjoy all BHI has to offer. The home was clean, very spacious, and had the right amount of everything. Communication with the host was excellent. From the golf carts to the hot tub everything we needed to enjoy our time was there. It was also very accommodating for kids!

Great Location!

The house has a wonderful layout for a family and lots of amenities. The hot tub was enjoyed by all and it was nice to have three golf carts. We loved the open floor plan upstairs as well as the giant screen porch overlooking the beautiful trees surrounding the house. We will definitely be back.

Terrific Property

One of the better properties we’ve rented on BHI, and the owners were extremely responsive. Very clean, nicely decorated, four bikes on good shape, three golf carts in very good shape. 10/10 would recommend!

Beautiful, calm stylish home

We loved our stay at this property. Even before we arrived we had contact with Madi, who provided clear and helpful information, she remained attentive to any questions we had with prompt replies. We love Bald Head Island and have been going there for many years, always renting and this has to be the best place that we have stayed at. It has style, comfort and peace and quiet. It also has everything you need to stay away from home. I especially enjoyed the screened in porch, or is it a room with a spectacular large half crescent screened window which places you amongst the tree canopy. I spent a lot of my time sitting there and will miss it. The whole house is fabulous. Oh and it's well situated to everything with 3 golf carts to get you there....or enjoy the walk to the Marina or the shops, the beach or the forest. That is why you are choosing Bald Head isn't it?

Comfortable & Inspiring

This was our 10th summer in a row at BHI & How You Dune? was one of our favorite rentals. We especially loved the unique screened in porch which felt like a treehouse. Not too many places have hot tubs at BHI (at least in our price range) & we all enjoyed relaxing in it after a nice beach day. Kitchen is well appointed and seemed to have whatever we needed. We would book again!

Fantastic family getaway

My family recently stayed at How You Dune for a birthday celebration. We had an amazing time. This house was perfect in every way. We have 3 children (ages 6-10) and it can be hard to find the perfect fit for us. The kids had enough space to move around. The room with the day bed was perfect for their own hang out area complete with a TV and a VHS (and some movies). The board game selection was fantastic! I specifically selected this house because of the location and hot tub. We were close to the market and to town and just a mile from beach access. While the house sits on the main road and has a golf course view in the back, it remains peaceful as it is well nestled in the trees. The house was very clean and had all the comforts of home. We did have a mishap with one of the golf cart batteries but the owners were super responsive and we were able to resolve it quickly. We are already looking forward to planning our next stay at this house. I highly recommend checking it out.

Great Stay

We enjoyed our stay at this property on BHI. Madi was a great communicator and we appreciated that she sent her husband prior to our arrival to ensure the home was stocked with essential supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent, etc. The kitchen is well stocked also and it has everything you need to prepare meals. I was impressed with the high quality Wusthof cutlery! The home itself was clean and tastefully decorated. The interior is bright, even though the home itself is situated in a wooded area. Our children enjoyed the hot tub and we were glad there was a charcoal grill on the property. Overall we had a very pleasant stay here and would rent this home again.

Hi! We are Matt and Madi Johnson and we live in Raleigh, NC with our two young kids. The first time we visited Bald Head we fell in love immediately and knew we wanted to spend as much time here as we could- and raise our kids here too. We love the uniqueness of the island and the separation from the "real world" - but you're just off the coast! We hope our home can be a place of rest, relaxation, and reconnection for you and your guests. The island life awaits!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We love the location of our home, as it is convenient to everything on the island- especially the marina/ferry, the beach, and the market. Everything is a walk or short golf cart ride away!

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

We love having a house "in the trees" on the island. It's significantly cooler in the summer and the upsidedown floor plan makes it feel like you're staying in a tree house. The upstairs porch is our favorite place to spend time- or in the warm bubbly hot tub. We love it here and we hope you do too!
