Want to visit Lake James but can't afford a waterfront property? We are the house for you! The public beach is just 1/4 mile walk from our front door! Pack your bathing suit, hiking boots or picnic basket! Our new home is just a short walk to Lake James and the Fonta Flora trail. The area is filled with outdoor activities including boating, fishing, hiking, rock climbing and wine tasting!

You will love your location in this quiet, gated community. Stroll down to the shore of Lake James, fed by the fresh mountain waters of the Linville and Catawba Rivers, or slip your boat in at the Linville boat ramp, just a 5 minute drive away.

Prefer the mountains to the water? Try out a favorite local hike. You will be near the Mountain to Sea Trail, Table Rock, Shortoff, South Mountains State Park, the Chimneys, Linville Gorge, McGalliard Falls, and so many more. Conveniently located an hour east of Asheville and 45 minutes form Black Mountain and Linville Caverns.

Looking for a little R&R after a full day outdoors? Enjoy Morganton's quaint downtown, with plenty of breweries and restaurants, or one of several nearby vineyards.

This home features three bedrooms: two with queen beds and one bedroom with two twin beds to accommodate up to six people with linens provided. Pack and Play available upon request. The kitchen is equipped with a Keurig coffee machine, gas stove, microwave, side by side refrigerator and dishwasher. Small appliances include a toaster, blender, mixer and mini chopper. There are two bathrooms with towels provided, a laundry room and a dining room with seating for six. The back deck provides beautiful views where you can sit and watch the deer pass by while looking at beautiful Lake James in the distance.

This rental is for the entire upstairs of the home. The basement has owner’s private bedroom but it will never be occupied during a guest’s stay.

Great area fabulous house

First I would say I have stayed at a lot of places, cabins, houses, etc and this was the cleanest place I have ever stayed. Very nice quiet neighborhood. Perfect for family gatherings or just some quiet time. Family members commented they had never been so relaxed. House had everything you would need. Everything is on one floor which was great for parents who can't do steps. All around great place to stay.

Wonderful gem!

We rented this house for my brother’s 70th birthday nearby. It looks brand new! Everything you need is there! Joy was easy to communicate with and was very helpful in making us feel comfortable. We will be back for sure!

Wonderful Site!

Immaculate home that has what you need for a lovely get away. The house was pristine and every inch was clean. The directions for arrival, departure, and items at the home were accurate and helpful. We would stay there again and might book again for this fall. This is a great location to access the trail while having all the comforts of home.

Great value on Lake James

Another lovely stay at Joy's house. Recommended for those seeking a simple, affordable and conveniently located spot near the lake. We particularly enjoy the semi secluded cove for swimming that is a 5 minute walk from the house.

Dragon boat race team accommodations

We are 4 women from a Dragon Boat Cancer survivor team who came to participate in the Lake James race. Our accommodations were absolutely perfect in every way. We only wish we had stayed longer to enjoy the home’s beautiful deck and adjacent hiking trails. Hopefully next year!!!

Great place to stay

Myself and 3 friends stayed here for a weekend get-away. The house was as described and very clean. The owner was quick to reply to my questions. Be aware- the beds are VERY firm. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing Stay!

We loved this place! Quiet and secluded, new house, well cleaned and cared for. I highly recommend this place. The neighborhood is nice and new, it's close to a walking trail and lake and the back porch was so relaxing. I wish the propane tank for the grill was filled because we would have probably cooked outside a few of the nights. A couple of suggestions: The bed in the master bedroom is hard and uncomfortable. A floor lamp in the living room would be a great addition. The recessed lighting at night is quite bright. Also probably worth mentioning the downstairs. From the look of the pictures it seemed like there are two levels to the house, but the bottom is not included in the rental. At first I thought someone was staying down there since we didn't have access, as if the house was shared, but fortunately that did not seem to be the case during our stay. A little clarity in the description would clear that up I think :) Those are just a few relatively minor points since I can say this has been, overall, our best experience on VRBO thus far!

Perfect Stay For Bike Trip!

Several of us biked around Lake James on the Fonta Flora trails. This property was a perfect location! Excellent distance to Morganton and other local sites as well. Highly recommend this clean and efficient property!

Beautiful new home with great location

We had a very short trip here staying at this property but the home was immaculate. Very clean, new and everything you need is there for your trip. Joy was very responsive with any questions. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone going to the area. It is very close to the hiking/biking trail that was very scenic and well maintained.

Our getaway to Helen's House

It was a wonderful visit at Helen's House! There is so much to love about this house. The host is absolutely fabulous. She is so very helpful, responsive and kind. The house itself is so clean and you can tell it has been cared for. It is tastefully decorated and there is plenty of room to enjoy the home, plus it's a great location to enjoy all the area has to offer. The only thing that was difficult for us was the beds being that they were incredibly firm. If you like really firm mattresses, you'd be fine - but if not, I would suggest a mattress pad or something. Also, our preference is a king in the master and this is a Queen. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. It's a great location and a nice development and a great house!

The gated community and friendly neighbors drew us in to Water's Edge! We picked this location because we can walk to the public beach and to the Fonta Flora Trail. Our grandkids can ride their bikes from the garage to the trail and we don't have to worry about traffic. We also love to sit on our deck with a drink in hand and watch the deer come through in the evenings!
