Hunter Lakefront House: Ski, Swim, Boat, Fish, Hike, Fire pit & Dog Friendly

Welcome to Wanderlake...a dog friendly, lakefront cabin at the base of Hunter Mountain. May through September swim, boat on a private beach on the lake just steps from the backyard. The dock has a pedal boat, a canoe & two paddle boards. The lake has good fishing for the angler in the family. Lots of local hiking. Skiing at Hunter Mountain is 1 mile & Windham Mountain is 7 miles. Great local eats & shopping at Hunter & Tannersville. See you at Wanderlake!

We had a great experience and enjoyed every minute. It was serene and lake view was beautiful…exactly what we were looking for in a rental. Rose was really nice and available if we had questions. I only wish we booked it for more days!!

Pretty lake house for a weekend getaway

This place is accurately described in the listing. It’s located on a small lake with a private dock. House is decorated well, and clean. The check in process was smooth, and host was very responsive. Enjoyed it a lot!

Perfectly designed and well appointed cabin!

We had an amazing stay at the cabin. The design is top notch and it includes everything you need for a comfortable stay. On top of that, the location literally cannot be beat. Spend some time on the deck and just stare at the water and breathe in the fresh mountain air. The communication was with Rose was excellent. We can’t wait to come back!

Awesome Lake House

We had a phenomenal stay at Robert’s lake house. Perfect size, amazing location, lots of space for everyone. It’s a funky house and feels like summer camp. We didn’t realize how badly we needed a vacation :) Thanks for everything!

Excellent !! Would totally recommend.

I stayed here with my daughter and 2 of my nieces. House was the perfect set up. Lots of places for you to go if you needed some quiet time. Property was great. Would love to come back in the summer time. Host Rose was very responsive. We had a wonderful time.

Relaxing stay

Wonderful stay for our family trip of 6 adults and 4 children. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable and the decor was modern. Rose our host was responsive to the one issue we had and was very communicative throughout the process. Great swimming at nearby Colgate Lake and rock hopping in the river down the road. Full compliment of paddle boards, peddle boat, and canoe for navigating the pond. All needs were met in this home.

Beautiful home and property great location

Everything was as advertised. Property could use a vacuum having 4 children all weekend it was hard to keep the carpets clean with a broom. Other than that not a single complaint.

A true delight!

Every little detail has been paid attention to in this small but very roomy A-frame. I loved the whimsical wallpapers throughout the bedrooms and the little decorative touches that gave it a Modern Scandi Lodge feel. Rose is a great host. Prompt to respond to questions and follow-ups.

Great place with beautiful views

We loved our little family getaway! The house was great, right on a cute pond, with beautiful Mountain views. Modern amenities-WiFi, tv streaming, kitchen, etc. For us, the yard was a bit of a steep incline to the dock, so my husband with mobility issues couldn’t really enjoy the water. Big deck was a great place to hang out & relax though. Would have given 5 stars, were it not for the early checkout (10am)…& when we arrived at 5:15pm, the cleaning person was still there. Otherwise a wonderful place!

Great location

Robert was responsive to any issue we had. The house was as described. I was on a ski weekend with my kids and grandchildren and the location could not have been better. There were just a few things that were not in the house, but there was a Dollar Tree within 5 minutes. Now there are some large bowls for salads. Overall the house had what we needed. I would go back.

Wow Wow Wow

Just returned from an amazing stay here. Incredible lake and mountain views. House is clean, tastefully decorated and very spacious. Quality kitchen ware and appliances. Very comfortable beds and sofas. Pedal boats and canoes were so much fun. Didn't use the paddle boards because I was afraid of falling in. Fire pit has plenty of wood. Rose checked in first night to make sure everything was ok. Never had a host do that before. She was always very responsive during the whole process. We had some other family members with us who never visited Catskills before and this home really set a very high bar for future visits.

Hunter Mountain Rental

This is a nicely renovated property which my family enjoyed for six nights. The house is smallish from the outside, but it has four bedrooms and can easily sleep 8-10 people. The house has a nice deck overlooking the small lake/pond and surrounding community with good views of nearby mountains. You can see the Hunter ski trails when you stand in the back of the house and look up the mountain. Kitchen has all the essentials. The house is very convenient to Hunter. This is particularly nice during a pandemic ski season because it allowed my family to easily return home for a midday lunch. The neighborhood is nice for walking the dog. There are a bunch of very good restaurants in Hunter and Tannersville. I recommend the German restaurant in Hunter and the BBQ place in Tannersville. The owners were very nice and easy to get in touch with. Our first day there, we could not locate certain things in the kitchen and had a few other issues and owners were accessible by phone on Christmas Day. I recommend the house as good and affordable spot to stay for a visit to this area with your family.

Absolutely ideal Catskills retreat

I've stayed at Bald Eagle Lodge with roughly a dozen friends for two late-autumn long-weekends for two years in a row and would never look anywhere else. It's a charming lakefront lodge outfitted with everything you could possibly want to for an exceptional weekend in the Catskills. The massive two-floor back windows look out over a deck (equipped with a great grill) onto a stunning lake. The property is kept immaculately clean and comes furnished with everything from cooking utensils to bed linens. Robert is impeccably professional -- prompt, genial, and eminently reasonable to deal with. And he's thought of everything -- the welcome kit he provides is an ideal reference to maximizing everything the lodge and surrounding area has to offer. (He even shared some helpful hints on the best time in the region to check out autumn foliage, which I'm planning to keep in mind when I schedule next year's vacation.) Bald Eagle lodge is cozy and compact, but it's extremely comfortable even for a group as large as the ones I've stayed there with, and especially when you split the rental cost ten or twelve ways, it's an unbeatable steal. Highly, emphatically recommended!

Beautiful relaxing property

My husband, dog, and I had a great stay. The house is cute and quirky, has all the necessary amenities, and is decorated with care and personality. The real stand-out is the property. The house has a beautiful backyard on a slight hill going down to a semi-private lake. The lake is inviting, calm, and clean and shared by about 5-8 other houses built around it. The property offers a canoe, peddle boat (or favorite!), and stand-up paddle boards that you can take out as you wish. People staying at the other houses were occasionally out on the lake kayaking or paddle boarding (as we were), but no-one was disruptive to our experience and the lake was never crowded. The neighbors are close by but noise from them didn't travel to our ears and their presence did not interfere with our enjoyment. The house's entrance level is actually elevated compared to the lake and backyard, with a nice porch containing table and chairs overlooking the lake, as well as cozy rooms upstairs and downstairs. For when you need a break from the sun (good weather is key!), the house offers board games, two smart TVs and a PS4, and binoculars that we enjoyed using to look at the geese and deer from the porch. There is also a nicely arranged fire pit for when it gets chilly at night. Overall we had a great time and would go back.

Comfortable, well thought through, clean and at fantastic location!!!

The title really says it: the house is very well thought through - the right items turn out to be exactly where we were looking for it. Extra blankets, towels, plates, glasses, pots. I wish they had a kettle for tea, but otherwise - very-very-very convenient. Kids enjoyed all the entertainment in the basement, as much as we did a quite moment upstairs. The location and the view - ahhh, that deserves a special mention. The view of the lake out of the living room was just divine: we pulled armchairs towards the balcony and were enjoying the sunset. Since the house is literary at the back of the Hunter mountain - getting ready to start the day on a slope never have been easier, and when we realized how many things kids forgot on a way - making a quick dash from the mountain back into the house to get it - was a breeze. Robert the owner - incredibly responsive and accommodating. We needed to "check in" earlier due to horrid rain that day - he figured it all out and helped us start the vacation from the right foot. Thinking of the kids, they even left a Christmas tree and some toys for kids to enjoy decorating it - sweet touch! :)) Definitely would be happy to recommend and, better yet, would be looking forward to return to this place again!

Beautiful home with a beautiful view

Our family booked last minute (rain decided to cancel our camping trip) and Rose was VERY accommodating. The gorgeous home was deceivingly bigger than my first impression and equipped with everything we needed, even for the kids. We’ll definitely be staying again and can’t wait to see it in the winter.

One of the best places

The house is clean, stylish and cozy. Our group of friends had 4 preteen girls, who enjoyed downstairs unit with bunk beds and swings off the porch. The host is very responsive and you will find everything you need. Lakefront location is perfect, and also close to great hiking trails.
