Condo was roomy. Comfortable beds, cozy atmosphere. Other than it being a 40 minute drive ( curvy road) to about anywhere, it was very nice. A great place to stay away from the hustle & bustle.
The property was a little difficult to get to however once we were there it was quite clean and looked well taken care of. The only issue we had was we did have to clean the dishes before we could use them due to some food residue left behind. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would book this property again
This first-floor condo is very easy to access and unload/load your luggage. It is located at the top of English Mountain and going to and from has some spectacular Fall scenery. The unit feels larger than the square footage suggests because the floor plan is really accommodating with two good size bedrooms and two good size bathrooms. Deborah is very easy to work with and returns calls quickly. If you're looking for a cozy, quiet mountain getaway, this is your place.
My family and I enjoyed everything about our stay at this property! The location was beautiful, the condo clean and well-equiped, and the owners were very polite and quick to reply. We look forward to staying there again in the very near future.
This condo is a quaint little spot atop English Mountain. Clean, comfortable beds and quiet location. Mrs. McCool was very kind and accommodating. I would say that the only drawback would be the twenty-five minute drive to town BUT it was so nice to be able to have the fun times of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville while also having the quiet and peaceful spot on the mountain top. I would definitely recommend this spot to others!
The condo was exactly what I wanted. the only issue is the steep drive off of Hwy 411. After 2 days I got the hang of the curves and there was little traffic so that helped.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay. The pictures did not do the property justice . It was more than enough room. Great price! Excellent views on the way up to the property. Check in was simple, entered my four digit code and I was in. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to where we wanted to be. We've stayed in the area several times but never one place twice. We will definitely be back here.
Baseboards were really dirty, the walls had a lot of hand prints on them, just stuff that normal people donât see, im a cleaner so I noticed everything lol, i really love it though itâs so beautiful and the price was great
Absolutely enjoyed our stay ! The host was awesome to comment with ! A tree fell and knocked out all power and I texted her and within min she responded and had us taken care of ! The ride up the mountain is SERIOUS lol but definitely worth it !!!! I will definitely book this cabin next time I take kids to gatlingburg!!!! Very spacious for all 6 of us including a 2 yr
Old . 10 stars !
Some of the reviews are correct. I messaged once and got a response the next day. That was all the communication I had. The GPS takes you a terrible way. Better to go up Wilhite Rd. Trash was thrown down the side of the hill of the cabin. Like lots. The dishes were so so clean. The cushions at the table were nasty. Baseboards were dirty. Lots of bug gel bait which was kinda a turn off. LOTS OF SPIDERS inside! LOTS. Appliances were loud ie washing machine and dishwasher sounded like they were dying. And hose pipe out back disappeared the day before we left.
I liked the cabin's exterior and the location. It was high up on a mountain and had nice views. Unfortunately that was really the only thing that I liked. This cabin was filthy! Everything had grimy fingerprints including the walls and all the appliances, which were extremely old. There were food splatters all over the kitchen. There was a big red stain on one of the walls that looks like blood. They were rings around the toilet and tub. Lots of little crumbs and bugs around. The bugs are not always controllable but the cleanliness part is. It was just not well-cleaned whatsoever. And what's ridiculous is the cleaning crew actually left an envelope out looking for an additional tip. Another thing that was too bad as they were very minimal on everything including towels, toilet paper and paper towels. We were out of everything at the end. They have a washer and dryer there on premise but did not even leave one laundry pad nor did they leave any coffee for people getting in late that may want a cup the next morning. Most places have a little welcome basket but this place offered nothing like that. Blinds were missing throughout the entire house and they were as dirty as everything else in there. I stayed in many air B&Bs & a few VRBOs in my life but this is definitely the worst experience I've ever had. I guess it's a good reminder that if you buy cheap you get cheap.
Filthy & in need of repair - will not go there again
The unit smelled terrible on arrival. The 2nd bedrooms comforter & linens smelled of unclean, perspiration/sweat. The room itself had a rotten odor like garbage was left in the room for days. The bedroom floor had red dried juices (hope it was not blood). I had to wash the floor on hands & knees to get rid of one of the causes of the STENCH! . We had to wash the bedding & towels in order to remove the 2nd contributor of the nasty odors. What was disturbing was when we took the pillow case off to wash, we noticed the pillow protector had a yellow sweat ring on it. After we washed it the yellow ring was gone, which lead us to understand the linen was not washed previously. There was a ring around the tub. Bath mat was dirty, the back of the mat was shredded like a bear used it for a scratching post! The walls were dirty! Front door Blind had a hole in it. Back patio blind was missing. . Window screen bent/popped in. Oven buttons were dirty. Kitchen utensils were slimy. We had to wash them before using them. The "spare" linens smelled used, and balled up in the back of the closet. The living room chair had white "stuff" food or something on the back. We decided to not sit in that room because of dirt and no blinds. Two women traveling alone would prefer to have blinds closed in the evening. We were not expecting perfection, but we were there to relax, not to clean.
Upon check-in there was mouse feces in multiple rooms, including the kitchen cabinets. The owner's initial response was to send us some electric "mouse noise deterrents". After the mice were still there two weeks later, the owner gave us the number to a pest control company to have them address the issue. We ended up buying mouse traps and catching them ourselves, which was a first for us in a short-term rental.
Upon check-in the ice maker in the freezer did not work. After following up with the owner four times over two weeks without it being repaired, the owner gave us the appliance repair service's number and asked us contact them ourselves. We scheduled the repair service, notified the owner of the appointment date, they replaced a valve, and we paid the bill on site. When we sent the owner the repair bill for reimbursement, she refused to reimburse us for four weeks! After we eventually filed a grievance with VRBO, she finally reimbursed us.
The public water service in the area went off for SEVEN days during our stay. The owner did offer to provide us a hotel during this time, which was thoughtful. We found an Econo Lodge for $102 total per night, which was the least expensive hotel in the area during the summer busy season. The owner haggled with us about the cost being too high, even though it was less than we had paid in total VRBO cost per night for her rental, but eventually reimbursed us for the hotel. We later learned from local residents that the public water distribution system in this area is unreliable and goes out frequently.
Other than these management issues, the property itself is in a peaceful and quiet remote area up in the mountains and makes for a pleasant retreat from traffic and crowds. It is a comfortable and safe space with two nice bedrooms, each with its own bathroom en suite. There is a private deck for enjoying the outdoors and nature. The kitchen has very basic equipment and utensils, so if you're staying there for a while and want to cook at home (as we did) you may want to bring some supplies with you.
My husband, sister, and brother in law loved this condo! Everything was amazing. We couldn't get the furnace to kick on, but we were very comfortable with just the fireplace on. Thank you so much for allowing us to book this property. We are already making plans to book with you the next visit.
