This is a nice end condo in a good location. Some of the kitchen items could use an update; for example, the bottom and inside of the tea pot was eroding away.
Room was everything we needed- great price/value. Units are very quiet next to one another. Kitchen fully stocked with even a coffee grinder for me, who bought beans by mistake!
Arrived at property and Was surprised by lack of essentials for one night stay. Was told to go to the store and buy your own TP and soap? What??
For $286.00/night you should supply essentials. All the other rental platforms do. Why not VaCasa? Bad experience with supposed customer service rep as well. Will not use VaCasa again.
Perfect location with very comfortable accommodations
My stay was wonderful. The space and amenities were great. Very clean and lots of light given the unit is on the corner of the building. The kitchen was well supplied with pots and pans, dishes, etc. The location was very quiet and made for a nice walk to the downtown or around on other walking paths. I hardly heard any noice from ajdacent units. I stayed two weeks and was very happy with this condo.
The check-in process was terrible. When we arrived at 4.15pm and opened the lockbox as instructed, there was no key. I initially called the number provided by Vacasa and left a message on the voicemail - I received no call back. I called VRBO and remained on hold over hour - I didn't get through to anyone. It was a 90 degree day and we were stuck outside for over an hour. At the same time I was waiting on hold, I began a chat on the VRBO app. I finally chatted with someone who was both unhelpful and unprofessional and blamed the owner for the missing key (but I feel that the onus should be on the property management, as that is what the owner is surely paying Vacasa & VRBO to do!). Luckily a neighbor who rents their property through Vacasa was able to get in touch as an Owner and was able to obtain the code to the bottom lockbox, which did have a key. It was a horrible first impression and we would be hesitant to book with VRBO/Vacasa again.
However, once we were able to get into the property, it was very cozy and was in a great location to access the Sun Valley grounds. We also loved the small stream next to the property - so peaceful to listen to at night. The only other small issue was that were dishes left in the dishwasher and some crusty substance (probably food) on the duvet. Otherwise, the property was perfect for our needs.
Dealing with the property management on the other hand, was a horrible experience.
On paper, the property location, size, and layout were perfect for my needs and in reality, things were mostly good. I'd give my stay a 6 or 7 out of 10. The location, size, layout, etc. were about perfect and, if the following are fixed, I'd definitely stay there again. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. In no particular order, the frustrations included 1) limited parking - free parking is of no use if there are no available spaces which was the case one night. 2) A very slow draining bathroom sink that would fill up before I was finished washing my face or brushing my teeth. 3) An old clogged coffee maker that, even after running vinegar through it, only worked 1 out of 6 mornings, 4) A washing machine that did not seem to properly run through the stages and which, on one occasion. would not unlock the door until I re-ran that load, 5) a bathroom vanity light that seems to have a short and that would, often, flicker for a few seconds after the switch was turned off, and 6) a horribly worn out bed that has a lot in common with Sun Valley's mogul runs. I finally figured out that the best way to be semi-comfortable was to roll up in one of the sunken spots and hope to fall asleep quickly.
Communication and cleanliness need some improvement
The condo is situated nicely within a quiet community. There was no parking available upon our arrival, as the listing had mentioned would be, so we had to walk further with our gear to the entrance than expected.
Upon entry, we found one of the bedside tables pulled away from the wall, indicating a lack of attention ot detail either by the previous guest or the housekeeper. We discovered later as to why that was... Also, the ice trays were empty, and there were no assurances of Covid-appropriate cleaning (the welcome gift from Vacasa had clearly been sitting there for months).
We had been traveling through some back country in the days prior to our arrival, and were eager to check in on work emails, and to upload photos to social media. The internet, however, did not work At All. There was a Netgear modem on the previously mentioned bedside table, which refused to give access. In checking the notes of the booking, the host had included a message about unplugging and replugging it in case of difficulty, and then, ludicrously, suggested the guests contact the internet service provider to fix...
Not wanting to spend our vacation time on hold with someone else's internet service with no names of owners or info on the Netgear account itself, we instead spent an exorbitant amount to get on an unsecured Cox Cable network for laptops and phones.
The bed was very soft, and had a rubber sheet beneath the fitted sheet, which was lumpy and ill-fitting. In attempting to run one load of laundry in the condo, there wasn't even a single detergent pack left as a courtesy for us, so we had to leave once more to go to the store to buy a packet.
At the end of the stay, I attempted to email the homeowner privately through Vacasa to alert them of the internet issues and other things, but no one ever responded. I also emailed Vacasa (presumably the property manager?) when we returned home to alert them that I wanted to get in touch with the homeowner before posting a negative public review, but it's been over a week with Zero Communication from either the homeowner or Vacasa. I'm assuming that Vacasa is failing its homeowner here, but nevertheless, the communication needs improvement between guest and homeowner.
Overall, we figured out how to make the space fit our needs, and enjoyed the area very, very much, but I wouldn't book this condo or with this property manager again.
