The Pickwick was clean and comfortable with an homey atmosphere and was in a good location for us as we were there to repair a cabin in the area and visit with old friends. The kitchen had basic equipment but had a small toaster oven rather than a full oven. The lockbox was difficult for us to get to â it requires getting down on your knees as it is plugged into an outlet at ground level. We are elderly and our knees donât work so well any more. At first we had difficulty getting the internet to work until we figured out that the light switch at the door controls power to the router as well as the lamps. Once we figured that out it worked well. On Thursdays from 11 - 1 there is a small farmerâs market in the village where we got delicious locally made sausages, produce and baked goods as well as a handmade mat we brought home for our porch. We appreciated the night lights that were provided in the hallway and bathroom.
Property has a great location, the apartment is spacious, quiet and checks off all the important items for a long weekend stay.
The kitchen is dated and needs a thorough cleaning, along with better care to get rid of all the dust and dead bugs elsewhere in the apartment. While I was able to connect to the wifi, there was no internet service, which was not great considering cell coverage in the area is not great either. Lastly, there is no garbage service so packing out our garbage was kind of crazy. Should be part of the base service.
But if you need a place to stay in Brooklin I would still recommend.
