We had a great time here. Very cozy, comfortable cabin and a great bed. Our host, Rich, was very responsive when we had questions and provided a warm welcome. We highly recommend this spot.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rich's place - the setting was very peaceful, and the house is very nicely furnished. We hope to get back again before too long!
We had a lovely time at Richard's. We enjoyed both the design and decor of his home and the setting was very peaceful. It was just right for a relaxing weekend. We highly recommend it!
We really enjoyed our stay at Rich's cottage. The place was comfortable and as advertised. Kitchen well stocked. Internet worked well.
The location was perfect for hiking, good restaurants, visiting Clark Museum and day trips.
Rich was very responsive to our questions and provided an excellent written guide to
the cottage. I would definitely recommend Rich's cottage.
This is a terrific house for a couple and everything about it met our expectations: clean, comfortable, and quiet. Coming from NYC for a long weekend, it was amazing to sit on the deck and hear the wind and nothing else. And when my partner had to login to work for a video conference, the great WiFi was a big help. The owner provided all the necessary information we needed to arrive and settle in. We'd love to go back.
This spot was perfect for us. Very comfortable space for a couple, awesome deck, comfortable bed, and very much appreciated the AC given the hot weather. Also very good wifi and other amenities. Close to the town while still feeling in the "country." Thank you for hosting us!
Great location for hiking and enjoying the Berkshires! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need. Very close to Catamount - looking forward to coming back in the winter!
What a beautiful, relaxing home! We loved the personal touches, and Rich was very communicative and kind. Days later, I'm still dreaming about that lovely porch and cozy living area. Hillsdale was a perfect gateway to the Berkshires, and we loved exploring the neighborhood and enjoying leisurely breakfasts at the house. Can't wait to return.
My husband and I had a lovely weekend at this cabin tucked away in the woods. We were thankful for a cozy landing spot to come back to after exploring the Hudson Valley area each day. Rich was an excellent host (providing all the essential pre and post visit information as well as local recommendations for eating/sightseeing).
This very private little cottage is nestled right at the edge of a wooded hill, its yard set off from the field by a screen of trees. We were visited by turkeys, deer, woodchuck and a bobcat! Staying here felt like being welcomed into someone's home that has been lovingly cared for for many years. High speed internet is a real plus. The house is designed for a tall person. Tall counters are just fine, but the stairs are steep with widely spaced treads, so a challenge if you have any knee issues or are short. The bedroom, upstairs, has no door, so despite having a wonderful desk, is not a separate space regarding sound. Beautiful countryside, lots of places to walk, near the amazing Bashbish Falls.
I gifted myself a writer's retreat and this house couldn't have been better. It is perfect for one person or a couple. So many delightful artistic touches and pretty places to sit and read, write, gaze, think. I would definitely come back again!
The cottage is exactly what we were hoping for when we booked it. from the moment you enter the cottage. All your troubles and worries are taken away. the place is so cozy, you feel right at home. Rich was an excellent host. My wife and I are already planning our next stay at this cottage.
The house was amazing! Kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and cookware. The wood burning stove heated the whole house and it made our stay so cozy. Rich was very responsive and welcoming and even left a bottle of wine for us to enjoy! The house was close to skiing and hiking and great restaurants. We had such a relaxing time and would definitely stay again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our two winter week stay at Rich's Hillsdale house. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen has a great old Garland stove that cooks beautifully. The house is in the woods and very quiet and yet is only a short drive away to Great Barrington, the Berkshires, Hudson, etc. There are many great hiking trails in the area including the Appalachian Trail. We had snow the first week and rented snow shoes from the Arcadian Shop in Lenox. Rich was extremely responsive to any questions we had and very helpful. Highly recommended.
Wonderful cozy house. Gorgeous location and views.
We had a fantastic stay at Rich's house in Hillsdale. The place was well furnished with everything we could need from kitchen supplies to comfortable furniture, cool design sense, and even good internet and work space. The back porch is a gem with incredible views of a beautiful neighboring meadow. Great walking area also with little traffic on the road and lovely old farms. Rich was also super nice and available to help with any questions. Highly recommend.
Almost everything you could need for a relaxing weekend out of the current. Beautiful sunny fields out the back floor length windows, great wood stove to keep the place toasty
On a relatively quiet country road, the house is set back from the road, along a hill, which really enforced the feeling of being away from other buildings and people! The house is cozy and well appointed, the personality of the owner peeks through in the library of books and dvds, as well as the furniture. Great light all day long and the upstairs window is like being in a treehouse!
We rent in this area often but were impressed by the location of this cabin. Both convenient and remote. Rich was very helpful and easy to communicate with.
Such a charming cabin in such a quiet and beautiful place. My stay here was nothing short of amazing. Rich was not only beyond responsive to all my questions, but the cabin was stocked with all anyone needs to feel right at home. The cabin itself was clean, quaint and very comfortable. I will definitely be returning! Book your stay today! Thanks for everything Rich :)
Picture in the ad is of the back of the house. Stairs to second floor are steep with no railing on right side. Not safe. Furniture and counters had sticky feeling like they where not washed down. A lot of old food was left in the frig. CD player is broken.
Rich is an gracious, accommodating, helpful, and responsive host and we were so grateful for the peace and quiet at his cabin. Itâs a lovely property to get away from the noise and daily grind of city life, just a short ride up the Taconic or the scenic route, 22. The backyard deck is so quiet for just having coffee and watching birds, or a bbq dinner. The house was cozy and full of interesting and quirky decor.
The kitchen has a really nice professional range. We loved the wood stove, too.
For an easy hike, check out Jug End reservation; more challenging walks at Mt Washington State Park. Bash Bish Falls is well worth a visit and a swim on a hot day. Chatham Brewery has a fun vibe and good beers and pub food.
FYI: the steps up to the loft bedroom are a little on the steep side, so not a great fit if you have physical limitations.
