We really enjoyed our stay in this tiny house. It is very small especially the dining area for our family of 5 people but we could handle it and had a wonderful stay. The kids loved the upper floor!
"Gretel" was our family basecamp for 8 nights while our teens attended a Ski Camp at Timberline/ Mount Hood, 15 min away. Great location! Property is managed by International Vacation Rental Company, Vacasa, whose agents are professional & friendly on the phone. However, they appear to have challenges getting maintenance & cleaning staff to this location as evidenced from condition of unit upon arrival, rectifying on site issues during our stay & hiring incentives posted in the Govy local paper. The cabin has great bones, and lovely thought out family-friendly decor. With some TLC - a deep clean, fridge & tap repairs, the cabin would be show ready. Note: There is no dishwasher. While this adds to the rustic feel of the cabin, dirty dishes, cutlery, pots, cupboards, etc. tarnish the overall impression of this location.
Itâs just how it looks. Nice small cabin with one main bedroom and two open loft rooms with twin beds. The ladder sat airs are tricky but itâs warm and cozy. The main bedroom is a good size but the bed needs replacing. You can feel the springs through the mattress .
Other than that the place is great. Our family had a fun time.
Right in the heart of Government Camp, close to everything! An updated 1960s cabin, with many cute features. A ladder leads to the upper floor, kids love it, adults not as much.
2 full bathrooms are a huge plus here, also a nice yard with fire pit.
Will stay here again!
What a cute little cottage! Totally adorable! Perfect for a couple with young children who like to climb up to the loft. We had 5 TALL adults in our party, so maneuvering around was a bit tight. Kept bumping head in the basement bedroom. Raised toilet (on a platform) and shower made for really low ceiling in the bathroom. A bit ackward.
Totally cute cottage! Queen bed in basement and 4 twin beds on the second floor, accessd via a ladder. Great for kids! Low ceiling in basement, not good for tall folks. Kept bumping head. Toilet raised up on a platform, making ceiling even lower. Ackward.
The house is cute. A few things to consider: the ladder to the attic is sketchy and the "bedrooms" up there have a very low ceiling, no separator walls. There's no dishwasher. No info on how to operate the Nest heat control on the wall. Wrong internet network and password were sent upon check-in. The 3-4 wall heaters do not work at all, we were there during a cold spell and the basement (main bedroom) was literally freezing. Cold enough to keep us awake at night. Most of the Govy rent houses are set up with a supply of chopped wood, but not this one. No way to contact anyone to ask for help. We left 4 days early.
The stove and some dishes were still dirty. We found a used pan with spatula in the oven. Used water bottle up stairs, the upstairs door wouldn't fully close.
Great & amazing location, love the snow covered area, didn't leave and axe for the wood they provided but that's nothing to bad. Stairs to the too floor could use a rail. Kids going up and down was a little sketchy. All in all, nice place. But could use some fixing here and there. I tried to contact the folks about the non cleanliness, but they haven't gotten back to me.
This cabin is amazing. It packs a lot of punch for such a small space and based on the surrounding homes, they are just wasting valueable natural space. Everything you need, nothing you don't. Well kept. An absolute Mt.Hood gem.
I was there with my daughter and her friend for a summer ski camp. We LOVED staying at the Gretel Cabin. Walking distance to everything and the cabin was so cozy and lovely. We will definitely come back.
Gretal Cabin very clean and had everything for our family with 2 kids to stay for 2 nights. our stay was very comfortable. I will definitively go back to Gretal if i am around mt hood!!
