The location of this property is phenomenal: we were able to walk everywhere and there was a metro stop right around the corner. The studio itself is exactly as presented on the listing. It was clean, well-appointed, and perfect for two people. The view of the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides through the windows is also amazing, while the terrace faces a quieter side of the building.
The owner,Eric, cancelled our reservation 3 days, before our departure, without any reason given. We had to scramble to find another place,to stay,& had to settle,on something, outside the city. This was not very convenient, for sightseeing & we had to take taxi's everywhere. We missed our $250 dinner cruise on the Seine, because no taxi's were available. Some drivers ripped us off big time.We will never return to Paris.
The apartment is well laid out and has wonderful views from two sides. The Eiffel tower and Eglise du Dome are so close viewed from large windows in the living and bedroom area. On the other side is a small balcony with charming views of chimney pots and roofs to enjoy while we ate lunch. The kitchen is wonderful for cooking, with a 4 burner cooktop and oven, plus microwave. The apartment is very quiet and balcony is secluded. Eric is a fabulous host who welcomed us at the building entrance to lead to the rental. He answered all our questions and was easy to reach for later questions. I note that some reviewers complained about the WC, but i really like having a separate WC next to the bedroom and it had a sink. That's unusual in Paris rentals we have stayed in before. Overall, we really liked the design of the apartment and loved staying there. The July 14 fireworks were breathtaking from the apartment! We will treasure that memory.
The location is lovely: We enjoyed being in a neighborhood rather than a more touristy area, and of course the views are spectacular. Watching the Eiffel Tower glitter at night did not get old. Accessing the flat from the street is a bit complicated, but we were provided with clear instructions, including photos, that made this a smooth process. The flat itself was comfortable and clean.
Now for the critiques: The flat is quite small, smaller than it appears in photos; this was not a problem for two people on honeymoon, but might be for others. It was also relatively light on amenities. For the price point, one might expect to have coffee in the flat, shower products provided (we used what we'd brought, supplemented with hotel samples left behind by others), and overall a little more attention to welcoming travelers. These things were not terribly problematic, but again, for the price point, we expected a more hospitable set-up.
Additionally, we happened to have planned our trip to Paris during a peak of the transit strike and associated mass protests. We knew that we would have a more complicated trip than we had originally anticipated, given that the metro was mostly closed and the streets were clogged, as well as that some public attractions were closed (including around 25-30% of the Louvre). A planned day trip out of Paris would be impossible, since the trains were not running properly. Even getting into the city from the airport was far more time-consuming and expensive than it would ordinarily be. At the time we flew to Paris, large demonstrations were happening; protesters were being tear-gassed; police officers patrolled the streets wielding automatic rifles.
Travelers were canceling or postponing their plans left and right; this was our honeymoon, and we very much wanted a stress-free journey. We reached out to the host to inquire about rescheduling our trip until springtime -- he had already been paid and we were not trying to cancel, be refunded, anything like that. We simply wanted to find new travel dates. He was entirely unaccommodating, insisting that a) we could not reschedule and b) if we were to cancel, he would retain all of the money he had been paid. VRBO was no help either, saying that the decision was solely his to make.
We went ahead with the trip and made the most of it, but that exchange certainly did not get things off on a good foot.
Pros: Charming flat, great views. Cons: Overpriced; surly host.
Small, well set-up apartment in a great location, especially to view 14 juillet fireworks from Eiffel Tower. An excellent place from which to enjoy Paris. Thanks Eric
The view was spectacular, you can see the effie tower right outside the window, the night view is outstanding, yes its 7th floor, but easy to get to, open tour bus 10 minutes walk , small grocery 5 minutes tons of great restaurants within 5 to 20 minute walk. Great experience and Paris was very nice place to visit, Eric was helpful for the apartment. Hint: we liked the Open Tour bus it work well for us. And we loved Paris.
We loved our stay at this property. We had perfect weather and were able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the long twilight over Paris rooftops. The apartment was well equipped and had the most amazing views of the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides and the Montparnasse Tower. We were also only a short walk to the Metro and loved the neighborhood. Check in and communication with the host were easy. Will definitely stay again when we come to Paris.
There were pros and cons... Pros - wonderful neighborhood very near to Bon Marche, cute restaurants in the vicinity, allows you to feel like you're living in Paris, not too far from any attractions you may want to see, beautiful views from the window, great airflow, cute balcony to sit and catch sun, lots of sunlight. Cons - The host was not very accommodating or concerned with our needs, it offered only the bare necessities - no water on arrival, no coffee, no niceties. Its much smaller than it appears in the photos, more suited for an intimate couple, very small water closet. Very long winding route to the entrance of apartment if you have many bags. The TV was child locked to prevent use it seemed and there were signs all over instructing what not to do. I think they want quite guests.
