Location was great, an easy walk to the lift. The condo was clean and the kitchen was very well supplied. Sheila responded quickly when we discovered a problem with the kitchen disposal and was fixed by the time we were done skiing.
The property REALLY was 4 minutes from the lifts and we would have given it a 5 but for a few things - had to steal light bulb from another source to replace one in living area, many outlets didn't work, bathtub scum- but very well stocked kitchen.
We enjoyed our trip to Angel Fire and had everything we needed at the Wren. We were all able to walk to the lifts with our ski gear in towâŠsuper close and convenient. Beds were comfortable, but (and this is at NO fault to the owner) beware that the floors are THIN. It sounded like a herd of horses staying above us, and they kept different hours than our young kids and exhausted parents after full days of skiing. I would still stay here again, but Iâd bring my earplugs next time.
This is a decent condo, in a great area, but there were some problem. First, the good: the condo has plenty of space, it is well located, close to all the fun stuff, and the beds were comfortable. The not-good: the condo was visibly dirty when we arrived, with dirt, leaves and hair on the floors and in the sinks. The bath/shower drains ran very slowly, which made showering a challenge. We had a very difficult time finding enough batteries with a charge to operate just one TV. There were 3 TV's and about a dozen remotes scattered around the place, but hardly any of them worked. We texted the property manager a couple of times, but got no response. I suppose she was very busy, as we stayed over the 4th of July weekend.
Overall, it is a good place in a great location, but it needs some upkeep to be top-notch.
This condo was really close and super convenient. 5 minute walk to the lifts which was incredible.Shiela was super responsive and very helpful. The only downsides were that the mattresses on every bed other than the king bed were very uncomfortable and the bunk beds were definitely not acceptable for teens. My 12 year old slept on the top bunk the first night and the bed shook and made so much noise that my other boys couldnât sleep. I certainly wouldnât put kids over 10 on the bunk beds. Super uncomfortable and unstable. There are signs that say âno climbingâ and Iâm sure they would break if anyone tried to climb. Additionally we could hear every step taken by the people upstairs, They were up and walking around each morning at 5 and it was so loud we all woke up.We would go back to this condo bc the location canât be beat. However, weâd Know we couldnât use the bunk beds and would likely bring mattress pads for the other twin beds.
The property is very close and convenient to evrything. We could walk to the chairlifts, the restaurants and the lodge. The shuttle bus will stop directly in front of the building. Each of the 2 bedrooms had 3 beds and could fit 2 families. It was great. The kitchen was totally stocked with utensils, cookware, spices, coffee filters, and even some dry and canned goods. We will definitely be back.
The good:
Location was excellent, 5 minute walk to the mountain
Owner communication was prompt and directions and instructions helpful.
The bad:
Unit was dirty; bed comforters stained and clearly not cleaned, a couple towels very dirty. Blinds broken. 5-6 dead flies in the windowsill. Basically appears the unit was not cleaned properly.
Remotes didnât have batteries and even when some were delivered next day, could not figure out how to watch 2 of the 3 TVs. Something like 6 remotes in total, most seemed to not work.
Bunk beds were unsafe for children so we wouldnât use (big bummer for kids).
Parking not available in back when we arrived after a long road trip, and not clear where else it was allowed.
Upon arrival I let the owner know of all of these issues and sent her pictures of all of the above. She was quick to respond and told me she never has had any of these issues before. She offered to rewash the sheets and towels and send batteries. She also offered to have maintenance come try to fix the bunkbeds the following day.
The problem with all of this was that we (family of 5 with small children) were there to ski, with lessons during the maintenance window and I did not want maintenance in the unit without me there which Iâd bet is not uncommon. And that our first night was in a dirty unit I paid a lot for based on the location.
In the end the owner got the comforters and towels recleaned and we received batteries. Bunk beds were not fixed nor safe. Couldnât get two tvs to work.
Asked the owner for a refund for the first night (we stayed 4 total) and she said she would provide a portion of that since she had fees to pay. I wasnât sure what that meant or how much I would get back so told her again the unit was unsatisfactory and why and I would like a 1 night refund. She refused.
Overall location was very good and communication was too. But the unit was not in a condition I would like my family staying in. We agreed to disagree and thatâs that.
Everything was as advertised! Perfect location, comfy beds and a spacious layout. Our little family of 4 loved watching the New Years Eve fireworks from our balcony and appreciated the convenience of the shuttle to the mountain. The cookware was well stocked to make meals. We truly wanted for nothing! The owner provided tons of info upon check in. We actually had little to no contact with her because everything was seamless and we had no need. Our only issue was that we had noisy upstairs neighbors who kept late hours. The condo does have thin walls. But then again we stayed during New Years. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
2 couples for some summer hiking around. Condo was as described. Excellent communication from owner and local management. Well stocked with soaps and spices. All the appliances you would need. Looking forward to staying there again.
A large condo with needed amenities. WiFi works well and easy access to the property. Slightly dated. Needed sports channels on the dish network. Would recommend and stay again.
Kids first ski trip and this was a great location - less than five minute walk to the lift. Owner was very responsive to our questions. Highly recommend this property
Wonderful accommodations walking distance from lifts. Son and grandsons will remember trip for a long time. First-timer to Angel Fire. We were lucky to be able to enjoy this late in the season.
We really enjoyed the proximity of the condo to the slopes - we walked back and forth, and soon felt comfortable allowing our kids (10, 13 and 15) to do so alone. The condo had everything we needed to cook, watch TV and movies, and generally relax. There are also some wooded areas right outside that were fun for general snow play. Angel Fire is a very small and family-friendly ski resort; the ski school was helpful and cooperative. The adults also took a day to snowshoe at the nearby Nordic Center on groomed trails. We will definitely go back to Angel Fire, and this condo will be the first one we check!
Property is really close to the resort, just a short walk through the trees (even my 8y/o and 11y/o made the walk in their ski boots!) or you can wait for the shuttle. Lots of room for two families, or spreading-out space for one family. If you happen to have loud upstairs neighbors, they can be a bit of a bother if jumping around or running. Otherwise, normal upstairs walking is tolerable and expected for condos like this with upper floors. Overall, very happy with our stay, and will look to stay here in the future.
Sheila was amazing to work with. Communication was immediate and any ideas or suggestions were very much appreciated. The apartment was very nice and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Plenty of room for up to 10 people!! Looking forward to our next trip to AF.
We have stayed serveral times at the Wren Condos. This was our first time at this particular condo. Was clean and had everything we needed. We had problems with the TV in the living room and contacted the owner and they are seeing that it is fixed. This is something they could not have known was a problem until we let them know. Screen to patio needs some attention as it fell off and does not slide well.
We would stay again and recommend it to others. Things happen when a property is rented out.
We have visited Angel Fire for the past 25 plus years and love the area. We recently acquired this property after years of deciding. We like the attributes of this property over others in Angel Fire because it is very large and spacious with 1200 sq. feet, it is one of the largest 2BR, 2 BTH properties in Angel Fire. Last March we visited Angel Fire and rented a Condo. After our stay, we chose this property for its close proximity to the slopes, within easy (no uphill or downhill climbs) walk across a field, the fact that it has paved parking (the one we rented did not and our shoes and boots were constantly muddy), it has shuttle service right in front of the Condo (the one we rented, which was only 4 blocks away, we had to load up and drive to the parking lot, then catch the shuttle to the slopes). The stairs to the upper floor are inside and so they do not ice over on snowy, icy cold days. (the condo we rented, the stairs were on the outside and always slippery.) Also the two bedrooms are separated by the entry way and are very private. Come stay with us and I think you will be very pleased with your choice.
