Tiny Gem is aptly named. We loved the location as we could easily walk to all our destinations. Our host was absolutely wonderful about accommodating our arrival and departure times. She also responded promptly to our questions. The apartment was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only reason we gave 4 stars is because of the size but we were comfortable and if youâre using it as a base of operations rather than a place to spend a lot of time, itâs perfect.
Great property for 1-2 people. It is a smaller property but if youâre only using it to sleep and shower. Right in the heart of Alfama where you can feel the of the old town
We loved our stay at this lovely little apartment. It is truly very small but also charming and in a great location. Despite the slight confusion with our checkin (which was resolved very quickly and amicably), we recommend this place highly. Youâll love it here!
The apartment was as described so no problem with the apartment but I think that when parking is necessary in a parkade away from the apartment, it should be mentioned up-front when booking the apartment. We drove around the area for hours looking for two parkades we were told to look for to no avail. We ended up dropping off our car rental early and even the Uber driver couldnât take us directly to the apartment and we had to walk (with all our luggage) to the apartment. Very frustrating.
Les points faibles : Communication, emplacement, exactitude de lâannonce
It was interesting to stay in the Alfana area, oldest section of Lisbon . We found our unit reasonably quickly but realized the closest parking ( we walked over the cobblestones carrying suitcases, etc) was almost a mile away.Entering the unit it was reasonably clean with the exception of a cockroach (huge) on kitchen floor. Bed was comfortable but TV never worked, not even a Portuguese channel âŠ.. WiFi worked for 1st 15 hours but miraculously disappeared after 1st day & did not return till last 4 hours we were there. That was particularly troubling in a foreign country where we were relying on internet. There were no issues as soon as we visited any cafes, restraints with WiFi? Finally there was a bottle of dish detergent by kitchen sink & a bottle of liquid soap only in the shower (which worked fine) the bathroom sink had no soap, sanitizer or any other cleanser/disenfectant? All in all it might have been a better experience if a few more dollars/euros were spentâŠâŠ. Two other properties we stayed in during our trip were far superior!
This âtiny gemâ was just that! It was a great location with Alfama, very close to everything. So nice. First floor entry at the end of the street so it was quiet and peaceful. As advertised, it was small; however, there were no surprises. A perfect spot for two in an adventure. Shops, coffee houses, restaurants, Fado performances and many of the major attractions within the Alfama district were within walking distance from this location. We did cook some awesome Portuguese sausages on the small but clearly usable stove. The refrigerator kept our much needed water cold. Also, it was very close to a luggage storage facility that let us land in the morning, stow our luggage so we could hit the town sans luggage in tow until time to check in. Speaking of check in, it was super easy!
The location was amazing in the heart of history and the legend of Portuguese 'Fado' folk music, anyone with a love for social anthropology especially musically orientated will love it.The apartment is small with no real windows except for a small opening on the top of the door and a little kitchen window that opens only a sliver from the top, saying though it did not bother me as being a bit of a bear I like my caves ;-)Everything I needed was there. My only critique is that the sofa could do with either a replacement or a good cover as it has some unsightly marks on it (probably caused by an eating accident by a former renter.)Apart from this, I cannot fault it and believe that this is an excellent location for a single traveller or even a couple.Another good plus is that it is only a 5-minute walk from the seafront and a 10-minute walk to the metro/train/bus services.
