Very close to restaurants and attractions. Grocery store 5 minutes away. Hosts were excellent and we were able to leave our bags in their office a few doors down, after we had checked out. Would stay here again. Thanks!
A great little apartment with local character and charm in the heart of Lisbon. Easy access to subway and restaurants and a very kind and helpful host. Highly recommend!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Pictures didn't do justice to this lovely, large flat. Though it's technically a studio, it feels like a one bedroom apartment. Extremely well located, quiet, well equipped.
Mario was very helpful with advice on Lisbon.
Don't hesitate to rent this apartment.
What else can I say. From the moment we arrived Mario made everything very easy. He had a driver pick us up at the airport. He gave us a tour of the place. He reviewed a map with us and he was very responsive to all of our needs. His place was charming and in a great spot, right in the action. Definitely recommend this listing if youâre in Lisbon!
Our entire experience here was wonderful. The owner, Mario, arranged for us to be met at and returned to the airport - a stress-free experience. The flat is comfortable, well-equipped, and in a great location - close to terrific restaurants and shops, with supermarkets and convenience stores nearby, easy access to public transit, but also a good spot if you like to walk. Mario was promptly responsive to all our questions, both before our arrival and while we were there. We will definitely return. Thank you, Mario, for a memorable trip.
A charming apartment with lots of character. Comfortable. Great location.
Very pleased with our choice of accommodations in Lisbon. From the massive wooden door to the stone archways inside the apartment, this unit has Old World charm that adds to the enjoyment of a visit to Lisbon. Mario was gracious and helpful. The open-concept apartment is perfect for one couple. There is a small grocery store only a couple minutes away, plus numerous nearby restaurants. Just a 5-6 minute walk to the Baixa-Chiado metro station, and also to a stop for the #28 Tram, which we took through the Alfama neighbourhood and to the St. Jorge Castle. The Gloria Elevator, which descends to Restauradores and Rossio plazas, is only a short walk away. We opted to take a taxi from the airport to the apartment, mostly because it was late at night and we didn't want to be wandering the streets (and hills) while hauling luggage. Taxi was about 15 Euros. But there is good access to airport via metro, and a 24 hour metro pass is just 6.15 Euros, and includes the trams and Gloria elevator.
Can confidently recommend this apartment. Thanks Mario - we enjoyed our stay very much.
Excellent location - over and above our expectation. Convenient to Chiado neighborhood; much to do right out the door; close to metro and buses. Charming and very comfortable accommodations, had everything we needed. Mario was an excellent host. We loved this VRBO!
A comfortable, well appointed and well located apartment at a reasonable price. Mario, our host, was extremely responsive to our emails before we arrived and very available while we were there. We really appreciated that he was on hand to give us a thorough orientation to the flat and the area, and that he was around most of the time to help us with anything we were unsure about. The flat was perfect for two people.
The one downside for us was that it was quite noisy when the occupants on the floor above were home and walking around (starting anytime from 5 am on).
Parking is quite challenging to find in this area so don't bring a car. Also, if you don't have a cellphone that you can use to find the address on Google maps, then be sure you print out and bring a detailed map of the area when you come.
We really enjoyed our stay at Fadoflats!
We had an excellent stay here. Apartment was comfortable, and pictures gave a good feeling for the place. Nice location, with lots going on nearby, but street was quiet.
Small bathroom and tiny shower, but usable. Some noise in the afternoon/evening from above, but quieted down at night.
As charming and well-appointed as the photos show, the flat is great! We are a family of four and found the place met our needs with the two twin beds and the sofa pull-out. Very well located and within walking distance to many restaurants, exciting neighborhoods to discover, and the tram and subway for exploring further afield as well. While Mark was pleasant and thoughtful at check-in, Mario was a fantastic and available host who most kindly gave us directions and a good fish restaurant recommendation in addition to arranging for our early Saturday morning departure airport taxi in advance. We highly recommend.
Enjoyed the location, easy walking to everything.
The apartment is clean and comfortable. Itâs located on a small side street away from a lot of the bustling neighborhood noise but there is a lot of noise from the neighbors. You hear every move in the upstairs apartment so if youâre a light sleeper it may affect you.
Our host was very helpful when I needed emergency dental assistance.
The apartment was exactly what we were looking for: great location, comfortable beds, well-appointed furnishings, fully equipped kitchen. It was a great place to relax in after long days of sightseeing. The arches and tiled walls provided a very Portugese setting.
A+ in everything except for an issue which I consider major and my husband light.
My husband and I chose this apartment for its character (brick arches and tiled walls) and location, and in all aspects but one were not disappointed. We agree with all the comments from previous reviewers regarding its excellent value, beauty, reflection of Portuguese culture, and location (we loved the street itâs on, and the fact that there is a small market open until midnight very close by). We also agree with the accessibility and kindness of MĂĄrio, who responded promptly to our emails. We arrived on a Sunday when he was out to lunch; however, a gentlemanly American friend of his was waiting for us and gave us information about the place and the city.
Important caveat: Although the bathroom is very small and reaching it from the bedroom takes walking through the kitchen and several steps, it would still have been O.K. The problem was its noticeable odor of open sewage. As soon as the door of the bathroom (which was closed upon our arrival) was opened we could smell it. I thought the reason was that the small bathroom had been closed for a long time, but when we returned from our first excursion of the city we immediately noticed that the unpleasant smell had reached the kitchen. We didnât want to waste any of our precious time in Lisbon so we decided to endure it. The day of our departure we talked to MĂĄrio, who assured us he did not know of the problem and attributed its probable cause to recent bathroom remodeling in a neighborâs unit. He assured us he would look into the problem, so if no future reviewer mentions this issue itâs clear that the situation was only temporary.
Tip: The beautiful, heavy, wooden door, which I so admired upon arrival, gave us a difficult time as we returned to the apartment from our first evening on town as we were unable to open it. It was cold and windy outside and after several tries we decided to call MĂĄrio, who showed up promptly. Opening the door has a trick; make sure to learn it when you first get the key. Also, it seems safe lo leave this door unlocked during the day as there is a second door which needs to be unlocked to enter the apartment and which presents no problem in opening it.
