Birthday celebration

Spent time with my daughter and a few friends celebrating my birthday. The house location is perfect, walking distance to the beach, store and restaurants. I liked that both front & backyard are enclosed and plenty of parking. The house decor was nice, one bed was not that comfortable, not suitable for adults, but the other two were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and everything worked well. I would definitely consider renting again in the future!

Exceeded expectations!

This property was even more gorgeous in person! It was so close to the beach. The owners are so thoughtful to have the basic spices & things in the kitchen. They even have beach toys & a cart with all the beach gear you need. Made our lives so much easier with our two kids & puppy. It was spacious & well taken Cafe of. The hot tub & fire pit was a family favorite! They communicated well & just right to keep us informed but also give us privacy . The restaurants & convienience stores are a footsteps away! Our stay was incredible! We plan to come stay at this property again!

Fantastic Beach House and Owner

The house is exactly as described and pictured. A great home, within a great neighborhood, a short walk to a wonderful beach. I can’t add too much more than other comments, except that I asked my 3 teenagers for a rating and they all gave it 5 stars. Lots to do within a short walk or drive. Our family dog gave it 5 woofs. She loved the house, yard and beach. Tim, the owner, is amazing. We had one issue, and we contacted Tim and he was very quick to respond and provide a solution. He couldn’t have been more attentive to our issue. Tim showed us, with his words and actions, his love and passion for his home and we were so fortunate to spend some quality family time together at his beach home. Thank you Tim. When it’s time to schedule our next beach vacation, Tim is the first person I will call.

Not a good experience overall for me as mold sensitive person

Place is listed accurately overall, good location, comfortable. The store next door was uber convenient and my family enjoyed their breakfast burritos, ice cream and whatever we wanted they sold. Neighbors were never a problem when 2 adult kids used hot tub and spoke and laughed in normal voices (did not have to be hush hush at all). My problems are very unusual and stem from being a severe mold reactor these past few years. I questioned landlord about presence of mold before booking and informed him I would get super ill if exposed to any mold and he assured me I would not have problems... wrong! Upon check in I noted small focal areas of surface mold in bathroom and multiple window frames. I understand that ocean homes collect more moisture naturally, so understand any place can have brief mold issues and need regular deeper cleanings. I did not know my VRBO rights and should have never moved in. I tried to take one for the team since we had only 48 hours with all of us present. We used cleaner master bath and we kept main bath door closed. However I became so ill I had to leave and checked into hotel instead and separated from my family, definite setback to our family get away! The home was comfortable and well kept otherwise. Owner promptly mailed back a few clothes left behind which we appreciated. We still need to negotiate a partial refund.

Awesome Getaway

Clean and well equipped 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, plus a nice backyard with a hot tub. Comfortable beds. A short walk to the beach, and a market right next door was super convenient. Great location close to Twin Lakes Beach, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, and Capitola. The perfect house for the 5 of us.

This house has everything you need for a great Santa Cruz vacation: easy walk to a beautiful beach, clean and well-stocked house, fenced in yard with an excellent grilling/outdoor dining setup, and even a wagon with beach supplies that you can use during your stay. The owner, Tim, was extremely responsive and helpful. Would absolutely stay here again.

Location location!!!!!!!

Excellent location!!!! Off street parking!!! (Necessary) busy parking street because of the beach. Gated front and back yard. Lots of out door seating. Super comfortable beds. Bright space. The beach is 2 blocks away easy walk. Everything you need in the kitchen. Note three steps in front and two to the back. Nice heater/air unit. Super property.. when the opportunity comes that we can go back we will definitely come back. Lots of close restaurants too. Love loved our visit. Thanks Tim.

Good Times!

We all enjoyed our stay at this awesome property. Easy access to Twin Lakes beach. Restaurants close by. On Sunday walked over two blocks to the Eastside Farmer’s Market. Prior to our stay I asked the owner if there were board games in the house...by the time we arrived Tim had purchased many family board games. This is a 5 star property.

Cozy beach house

Great location and wonderful to be able to bring our fur babies. Beautiful clean home and cute stores and restaurants are within walking distance. Beach is close and not crowded. Felt a little obligated to keep the kids quiet even outside during the day in the spa but we understood, neighbors are extremely close, and a family friend lives in the detached garage and can probably hear everything said in the backyard. Honestly felt more privacy in the front yard, which is nicely landscaped. Nice to be able to park in the big backyard. We had a wonderful trip.

Comfortable home, wonderful location

We very much enjoyed our stay in Santa Cruz. The home is clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need from beach equipment to coffee filters. The beds are some of the most comfortable we’ve found at rental properties and the shutters keep the light out so we all slept great. There is great tide-pooling a few blocks away and a beer garden and taqueria right around the corner. We left this morning and our teenage boys are already talking about returning.

Have stayed in Santa Cruz many times but this vrbo allowed us to learn about the quiet, family neighborhoods that have access to so many beach activities. Loved it! Will be back.

THIS HOUSE AND LOCATION BEATS THE DREAM INN BY A LONGSHOT!!!

We used to pay more to stay in a tiny room at the Dream Inn because we wanted the beach close and places to eat until we discovered “The Family Funhouse” Here are a few reasons why we will never stay in a hotel again and will stay at the family funhouse every summer: · You get a beautiful (3) bedroom / (2) bathroom house. · You get a fully fenced in front and backyard (my kids and dog were safe) · Twin Lakes beach is at the end of the block (2-3 minute walk) · The Harbor and Crows Nest is a ten-minute beach walk from the house. · The Black Point beach market is next door and they have yummy food and everything you could desire (coffee, drinks, sandwiches, Maryanne’s Ice cream, smoothies, candy, beach stuff, ice, firewood)
..it’s a beautiful thing. · You walk around the corner and there are great places to eat (Mexican, Italian, Hawaiian, Barbeque, Starbucks, Little Caesars pizza & a Brew Pub) · There is a hot tub and fire pit for a bonfire in the backyard (they even supplied the wood) plus there is a Weber propane BBQ. · There is a cute chat table in the front where you can sit and enjoy a cocktail and people watch for hours. · Inside the house you have a fully stocked kitchen if you want to cook with a Keurig coffee maker (they provide some K cups and creamers) · The beds are all comfortable, there are (4) flat screen TV’s with Comcast cable and they even have HBO, Showtime, Starz

ALL THE GOOD CHANNELS !!! Plus they have high speed Wi-Fi that works perfectly. There are more great things we loved but I think this tells the story of the wonderful FAMILY FUNHOUSE. The only little problem is that Tim (the owner) asked us to please keep the noise down after dark because he wants his neighbors to be happy but honestly my active and loud kids where pooped out by 9:00 so it was easy.

Beautiful home in a great neighborhood!

This is our second year visiting this house and it is still just as nice as the first time we stayed. The cottage is extremely well stocked, clean, and close to beach, shops, and restaurants. We can't wait to return next year!

Perfect location!

This house is in an excellent location, easy walk to the beach as well as restaurants, breweries, and the little store next door! Renters should note that the online pictures of the backyard are not updated, half of the yard has been fenced off. It is not a big deal since the yard is still very large though. The bed in the master bedroom is very small. And there are no real mixing bowls in the kitchen so bring your own. Tim is wonderful to work with and very helpful. Our biggest complaint was not in Tim's control, but was very frustrating to us. Apparently the neighbors have a real issue with it being a rental and there are notes everywhere about being quiet. Even a note that says to be quiet when outside after 8pm!!! Really? We are on vacation as a family and want to enjoy the amazing backyard, hot tub and firepit, and don't want to worry about being quiet after 8! Again, this is not the owners fault but does put a huge damper on an amazing home!

Weekend getaway

My husband, daughter and I had a wonderful time staying at the house. It had everything we needed, was quiet and located next to a little corner store (which was not an issue) that had some great takeaway options. There are chairs and beach toys to take on the short walk to the beach. We enjoyed our time there!
