We were so pleasantly surprised but how big this place felt, how clean it was, how great the back yard space was, and the location was delightful. We would definitely here again. We just wished to organ inside was working as one of our guests is a musician and piano player! Overall terrific even if no view of the ocean- but literally steps to west cliff path- wonderful!

Perfect for families!

The owner and property manager were very hospitable and they even left two Easter baskets for our kids! The house is in a great location and I have never stayed in a rental that was so fully stocked with everything in the kitchen, extra towels, and even some beach toys! We had a great long weekend and we can’t wait to come back!

Great place to stay, very friendly and accommodating owner. House is very roomy and comfortable

My family and I loved our stay here. Kathleen, the owner, was very sweet and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire experience. The house was fully stocked with everything we could have needed and also easily slept all ten of us comfortably. Ocean is just a half block away where we watched dolphins and surfers almost every morning. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great vacation.

a great time!

We enjoyed our stay here while we were in Santa Cruz for my daughter's wedding. Everything was very clean and tidy and the kitchen was well-stocked. The owner was very accommodating. She even bought a new ironing board when she heard we would be ironing the dresses for the bride and bridesmaids! We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect gateway

We just spent the Memorial Day weekend at this house and I have to say it’s one of the best vrbo stays I have had. The property manager is super responsive and small details in the house were taken care off. Also you can’t beat the location, it’s away from the hustle bustle of the boardwalk area with gorgeous views of the ocean. There are very good food options around too. We will be coming back here and recommending to our other friends too.

Well maintained property in a quiet, convenient location

It was such a pleasure to escape the heat of the central valley and enjoy time with family in Santa Cruz. Young and older relax and have fun at the beach and boardwalk. Kathleen provides wonderful customer service which enhances the carefree time spent at her home. Every need seems to be anticipated in the house, yard and with toys. This was our second visit but not our last.

Gathering of Long Time Friends

We were a group of old friends spanning 40+ years who decided to meet up for a few days in Santa Cruz. We used the west cliff getaway as a meeting point and a few of us spent the night there. The house was clean, well appointed and comfortable. Our only complaint was that it didn’t sleep 10 people; only four of us could sleep comfortably which included sleeping on a sofa.

West Cliff - location and comfort

Thank you to the Frosts for sharing their comfortable and well equipped home. Just a few steps from the cliffs, the sound of surf could be heard from the front yard. Every need was anticipated and I appreciated the notes throughout the house telling location of necessities. The bonus was the park at the end of the street where little ones could play and basketball for the big ones.

Best Ever VRBO Stay!

This home welcomed us from the moment we stepped through the front door. The owner communicated with us from the get go and left a kind note and a box of local chocolates (wow!) when we arrived. We loved all the "Santa Cruz"/"Beachy" decorations and felt incredibly comfortable and totally "at home". Everything we needed was in the home...even coffee to get us started on our stay! Many "extra" touches that we've never had before in a VRBO home. Overall, the location...the home & amenities...and atmosphere...were AMAZING! We'd be repeat visitors for sure! Thanks so much for creating a beautiful, peaceful, beach getaway!

Beautiful well stocked home within driving distance to many attractions!

The house was situated in a beautiful neighborhood with a beach located @ end of street! While this beach wasn’t a very populated beach we did spend a little time here & enjoyed the serenity! The vistas atop the cliffs were spectacular, & we enjoyed our hikes down to the waters edge. Other beaches were close by & it wasn’t an issue to pack up & go to them, it was a good trade off for the quietness. This house is so well equipped, with everything you would need including beach towels!! It is super clean, & the beds were all very comfortable! Owner & manager are super nice & are ready with suggestions of what to do & are anxious to accommodate your needs. We would stay here again, & highly reccomend this place!!

Cancelled After Profiling our Group

The property management/owners cancelled on us the day before the stay (after being confirmed, filling out the lease, providing payment information for liability etc). Said they suspected we would be throwing a party and we weren't welcome to stay there. Luckily another owner was kind enough to accommodate our group (where we got our deposit back since the property was left as we found it). Unfortunate the owners didnt allow us to stay here but luckily there are other amazing places to rent in the area.

I will never stay here again and I’ve prompted my family never to stay there either. Bugs biting us and couldn’t stay in the house. I highly recommend you take this property off the listing. The rental company is terrible and does not communicate well or care about the safety of their guests.

We take guest comments and criticism very seriously, which is why we had pest control and housekeeping inspect the property following your check out. We found one ant in the kitchen. Consequently, it was determined that no compensation would be refunded - and the one star review is the result your retaliation. It really is too bad that you weren't able to enjoy your time in Santa Cruz.

Close to beach

Great location, a run-down house. I think a great vacation rental doesn't have a lot of the owner's stuff. That is not the case here. The kitchen has way too much stuff. Who needs twenty of the same plates? The furniture is dated and not so comfy. An organ in the living room takes up way too much room and the room can be used in a much better way. TVs that are from the 1990s (really video tape players). There are plastic chairs in the backyard that are so dated. The AC is in the closet and so loud. The ocean is close by, so you can escape the house, I guess. We left a day early.

Wonderful House, Excellent Location!

Without a doubt, we will book here again the next time we go to Santa Cruz. The house itself is super clean (and I'm picky), well stocked with everything you'd need (tons of kitchen supplies, loads of towels, beach gear, games, books), and has a great floor plan with the bedrooms near the back of the house. The furniture is all very comfortable - beds, couches, tables - and the backyard is perfect for al fresco dining and romping around for the kiddos. Neighborhood is quiet despite being 100 yards from West Cliff (amazing views and a terrific foot/bicycle path that runs along the ocean) and very close to Natural Bridges. It's only a 10-minute walk to Kelly's French Bakery, Westend Tap & Kitchen, and New Leaf market, and the more touristy Santa Cruz attractions are all within a very short drive. I used to live in Santa Cruz for years, so I know it very well. Believe me - this location can't be beat, and this house is just fabulous. The owner Kathleen and manager Kimberly are top-notch. Very responsive and incredibly helpful and kind. You really get the sense that this property is very cared for, and their guests receive the same attentive care. This rental is a fabulous find!

A cozy house steps from the ocean

I had a good feeling about this house before our booking was even confirmed by the owner. She messaged me on VRBO to check that I was aware that the weekend was forecast to be rainy, and didn’t want us to be disappointed. I really appreciated that. We were indeed aware and were ready for a possibly rainy weekend getaway (luckily it only really rained the first day and for a bit on the last day). And it was great how she checked in with us via message to make sure we were doing ok in the house, even offering a later check out time if needed. The house was super clean and well-maintained. Even the outdoor furniture was clean! Loved the little Santa Cruz decor throughout. As well as the very many board games, books available. The house is just steps away from a magnificent ocean view and my family enjoyed many walks (even in the chilly wind). On the first clear sunny evening, many cars illegally parked along the side of the road to watch the stunning sunset and my son remarked that all we had to do was step out of the vacation house to see this sight. My 8-year-old’s thoughts: The house was cozy and warm and close to the ocean. My 6-year-old’s thoughts: I loved the double-decker bed and I could see the ocean from the driveway! Highly recommended!

Perfect Location

This house was perfect for two families with kids - the parents had their own rooms and the 4 kids stayed in the bunk room. The house was perfectly located for us to ride our bikes to the beach. Natural Bridges State Beach was the closest and a great beach to hang out on and great for body boarding - but definitely had the roughest waves. There are other beaches in the opposite direction that aren't too far by bike as well, that are much calmer - these beaches allow dogs as well. We even rode our bikes to the pier which ended up being a 6 mile round trip ride. The kids had a blast seeing the sea lions at the end of the pier. The location was perfect for us to do a morning bike ride/beach excursion for a couple of hours, come back to the house for lunch, let the kids decompress for a couple of hours, go back out for a sunset beach excursion and come back for dinner. Overall a great location away from the crowds. As far as the house goes, as already noted the house was great for two families. The kids basically stayed in their bedroom when at the house - between their own screens and the TV with VCR in the bedroom. The main living room was nice for decompressing at night and there is a small room off the kitchen that another group could hang out in. The outside was a great hang out with the fire pit in the evenings. The only recommendations I would make is in the kid's room, the mattress on the bottom bunk was extremely worn to the point where you could feel the springs and very uncomfortable for the kids sleeping on it. If you don't want to get a new mattress I would suggest getting a foam mattress cover. The other recommendation I have is to get a couple of cheap fans to put in the bedrooms and keep in the closet. While Santa Cruz is normally very cool, we were there during one of the hottest weekends and it was very hot in the bedrooms at night. Keeping cheap fans in the closet for use when needed would be great. All in all, a great vacation and we would definitely go back!

Perfect location and very clean

Everything was clean and check in process was seamless and simple. For us, three doors down from front row on west cliff is hard to beat. Lots of room. Great rental. We will rent again.

Can't wait for a return visit!

The West Cliff Getaway home was very nice. I stayed there for five nights and would love to stay there again. The owner and manager were stellar to work with. The house's location just steps from the cliff walk was amazing. I really enjoyed being able to take a few steps and watch beautiful sunsets every night. The house had everything you could possibly want, and it is in walking distance to some nice shops and brewery/restaurants on Swift Street. Spending evenings around the backyard firepit was especially nice. You can't go wrong here!

Beautiful Santa Cruz location

First, don't hesitate to book this place - it is amazing! You won't find a better rental in Santa Cruz, and if you happen to be there for Ironman Santa Cruz 70.3, it is a perfect location for spectating! Second, the owner(s) are amazingly gracious, kind, responsive and friendly. Third, but not least, the house is SO comfortable - like truly being at home away from home. There are plenty of provisions (from spices in the kitchen to extra soap and shampoo in the bathrooms and extra towels everywhere!) Our boys loved the variety of games in the living room (Twister was a fun diversion). The beds are comfortable and there are extra bedding items should you need them. There are lovely throw blankets near every seating area also. You can tell this house is lovingly prepared for guests each and every time and it really is one of the best houses we have found on VRBO/HomeAway (and we've been a lot of places!) The proximity to everything fun in Santa Cruz was great. There are so many entertaining things to do nearby, but the backyard is beautiful, and maintained so well, that you probably won't want to leave anyway. :) Special thanks to Kathleen - our family had a wonderful time and we look forward to hopefully coming back next year!

Cute Little Getaway House

This house was perfect for a getaway with extended family, 6 adults, 2 teenagers and 1 4 year old. The house was clean and roomy. The location was perfect, by the cliffs in Santa Cruz. Kimberly and Kathleen were great hosts and very responsive to inquiries via text. We had a great stay.

Great place for family get-together

This house is in an excellent location near the beach and has a lovely back yard. It was perfect for our two families. The house was clean and tidy inside and out, and well provisioned with kitchen/cooking appurtenances and dishes. We also noted /appreciated details like bandaids in each bathroom.

Wonderful Santa Cruz home

This home was cozy, comfortable, and cuter than the photos depicted. The owner Katleen was attentive and very easy to reach with questions. We had a group of 9 and there was plenty of room. The location was amazing; very close to beautiful walks along West Cliff Drive, good restaurants, minutes from the boardwalk. We would absolutely stay there again.
