Loved this property! The deck was the perfect fishing and swimming spots for the kids in our group. The living room/dinning was bigger than the pictures made it look. Easy check-in. I would love to stay here in the future.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this property to anyone. It is extremely run down, the screens on the windows are broken (letting tons of bugs in), the grass is completely dead, dangerous dock, and extremely dirty. My family and I were wildly uncomfortable during our entire stay because of how dirty it was. The carpet and couch are gross, there are dead bugs all over the bathroom ceiling, and mold in the shower. The dock is also extremely unsafe with the railing giving you splinters and the boards completely falling apart. The owner needs to do A LOT of work to this property to make it suitable for people to stay in. You should not be paying thousands of dollars a week to be this uncomfortable during your stay. The owner is nice and communicative, but ignores basic cleanliness and safety concerns.
Amazing location right on the water. We took some great family photos on the deck overlooking the lake. This is an older historic property. If you are looking for a brand-new home this isn't your listing, but my family and I had a great time. Plenty of room, everything you need, in fact even more I think there were 5 TVs.
This is our go-to place when we go to Almanor. It is a beautiful location, view and perfect set up for kids who want their own space/rooms. The deck and great room canât be beat and Tyler is always super responsive and proactive.
This home is perfect for a private, relaxing stay on Lake Almanor. We have stayed in other locations on the lake, but this property is unique as it is very quiet, has a wonderful deck and dock that we used every day. The home is rustic, but we loved every minute of our stay and will be back next month! thank you for keeping this property as it is as we loved having all the trees, birds and squirrels with us to watch every day!
Communication was so quick and easy! Super nice place with private access to the lake, spent 2 weeks there with my family and I wish I could have stayed forever â€ïž
If you don't like spiders, DO NOT STAY HERE!!! When pulling up to the property, my husband and I looked at one another and said this cant be the house, it literally looked abandoned. The spider webs and debris surrounded the house entirely. Although the porch has a beautiful view, you cannot enjoy it due to the infestation of the largest ants I have ever seen and the wood is weathered so bad that anything we touched or walked on we got splinters so bad and this includes the doc. Within the first 15 minutes of being there my grandsons went down to the dock and both of them got horrible splinters from holding the railing. The very 1st night my 17 year old went to bed and there was a huge spider crawling on him. The towels were musty as if left in the washing machine too long and the kitchen had dirty dishes in the cabinets. Everywhere I turned around there was a spider crawling up the walls and some sort of gnat infestation on the walls in the upstairs bedroom. There is no A/C so if you want a cool place to stay, this is not for you. It was 84 degrees but with very little breeze, it was hot. The upstairs bedroom window is 2ft off the ground with only a screen, if you have a toddler this is a hazard as they can fall right through the widow to the porch. We had a family reunion and about 10 others had rented VRBO's and none of them looked as bad as this one. If you have a concern don't expect a response from the owner. Thankfully we had an RV to sleep in.
We enjoyed a family weekend getaway to this historic cabin with a gorgeous view. There was lots of hiking around and we did some trails but we mostly stayed around the cabin enjoying the view, relaxing, and playing horseshoes. We found everything we needed and had a wonderful time. No doubt this an old cabin that is slightly outdated but itâs clean and comfortable. The host was communicative and welcoming. I want to go again!
This place was very comfortable and is in a great location. The house faces north so you never get the direct sunlight blasting you in the eyes! The house itself is a bit run down but it had everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. I would definately go back! Owner is quick to respond with any questions you may have.
Love the location. awesome view. Extremely run down on the verge of dangerous. Our group was fine with it we're pretty blue collar but wow!!!
Would definitely stay again if they waved our cleaning fees or something cause we cleaned for an hour when we got there windows and such..
Nice home and a great view of the lake from the deck. Plenty of room to park which can be an issue with lots of places at Almanor. Just one caveat. There is no beach, just big rocks . That said however, we had no problem swimming off the pier. The owner was great to deal with. I would recommend this to any family group.
Needs some work. Beautiful view of lake distorted by dual pane window released and moisture running down between the panes. Couch, the perfect size, is uncomfortable, due to unlevel cushions. Dining room chairs, which there were only 6, were bent in the middle of the cushion and were not useable. There is a bar counter with 4 barstools. That said, the view was spectacular of the lake. Appliances in kitchen worked great, including the RV size oven. Dishes were sparse, 8 plates and flatware for 8. We used paper plates so we werent washing them after every meal. This contributed to our garbage issue. Bring garbage bags. Bedrooms were all adequate. Parking was spacious, we had 3 large SUV's down at the cabin level and there was more parking up on the road. Beautiful walks along road. All-told, we adapted and made it work. It was the best peaceful vacation for after the holidays. 7 people all agreed, it was great.
Great location with a very attentive and responsive owner. The views are to die for - we lived on the deck and in the great room. It's a little dated, but as long as you don't get hung up on the little things, this house is great! The only concern I'd have, is if I were bringing some older folks. The dock, due to water being low, was a little rough for the grandparents. We had to put the boat on a buoy each night because of the wind and attempt to drop everyone off on the dock. It took some maneuvering, but we made it work. Would I rent again - absolutely!
We spent 5 nights with two families of 4. Plenty of room for all of us adults and 4 teenagers, plus two dogs. The deck is amazing! I especially appreciated the gates on both sides to keep the dogs in when it wasnât swimming time for them. There are lake views from everywhere in the house!
The house could use some TLC (updating, some general repairs of normal wear and tear for a 40+ year old home). Despite that, it was clean, comfortable, and the lake did not disappoint!
Very quiet area, and Tyler was wonderful to communicate with. Any questions about what the house had before we got there, he was super quick to respond, and if we were looking for something while we were there, same, quick response.
It was a great getaway!
Needs cleaning but affordable spot to stay with amazing views
As other reviews mention, the house needs a little TLC and update but it's not a deal breaker especially for low maintenance folks like us. What we came for was the view and it did not disappoint.
There was some lack of cleaning..from hairs on the couch, toothpaste stains in the sink, food specks in microwave, etc. But overall the beds were clean and linens washed from what we could tell. The biggest drawback was the couch. It needs replacement..it sunk it so much that no one in our group wanted to sit on it and instead spent our game nights on the dining room table.
We found most things we needed in the kitchen to make meals, beds were comfy to sleep on, and most furniture in good shape (besides the couch). The view from the living room and bedroom and affordable price helps overlook the few flaws we found in the house. Would most likely rent again.
