Guest Access:
You will have access to the entire basement apartment, which is accessed by a private entrance. We offer self-check-in for maximum independence and privacy.
There is free street parking available on the street. Please observe street signs.
The Neighborhood:
Sloan’s Lake/West Colfax No matter what you’re planning on doing, we are close to it all. Walk to Sloan’s Lake Park, delicious brews, rock star restaurants and Alamo Drafthouse, an excellent movie theater that also shows classic films and offers cocktails and food served seat-side.
Downtown Denver is easily accessed by car or light rail, which can be picked up at Sheridan Station, a 5-minute walk to the South. The W line also goes to Golden, a vibrant town near the foothills that makes for a fantastic day trip.
Zooming out, you will notice that our neighborhood is an ideal jumping-off point for exploring Denver, Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park, ski country, mountain towns, Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, and much, much more. One of the perks of staying here is the easy access to grocery stores and local eats. We love Tap & Burger, Odell Brewing, Little Man Ice Cream Factory and Rupert’s at the Edge.
If you are headed Downtown, get oriented at Union Station, which has been reimagined as a cultural hub with cafes, art and shopping. From Union Station, Coors Field is within walking distance to the North, while Ball Arena (Nuggets and Avalanche) is to the South. Trendy Larimer Street is also nearby. You can catch a light rail train at Union Station to get to Empower Field at Mile High. The 16th Street Mall offers a free shuttle, which is the best way to get to the Denver Performing Arts Center as well as the State Capitol and Denver Mint.
Further East, it’s a short Uber ride to City Park, Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Botanical Gardens, and other attractions. The new Meow Wolf art experience is also worth checking out, as are the Denver Aquarium and Elitch Gardens. All three are near Empower Field and the REI Flagship store.
Here for a concert? Red Rocks is a mere 20 minutes away by car. You may want to check out this area regardless of your itinerary – it’s a unique place, and its gateway town of Morrison is charming. Link up an easygoing riverside hike at Lair O’ The Bear or an afternoon paddle boarding or skating in Evergreen to really make a day of it. Further south, you’ll find Roxborough State Park (40 minutes) for more hiking trails. One of Colorado’s main draws is Rocky Mountain National Park, which makes for a great day trip. Drive 1.5 hours through a dramatic canyon for a day of hiking, sightseeing and wildlife viewing.
Depending on your destination, skiing is 1-3 hours away. Locals head to Echo Mountain, Eldora (near Boulder) or Loveland (near Georgetown) for a more low-key experience, but we’re also within a few hours of Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and other snowy delights. There is a Nordic center near Breck if you want to try out cross-country skiing, and the summer months are a great time to rent a kayak to explore Dillon Reservoir.
In short, this is the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the best of Denver and the Rockies! It’s impossible to see everything in one visit, so we look forward to hosting you again after you fall in love with Mile High Life!
Getting Around:
There is plenty of free street parking nearby. If you park on any street around Denver – especially Downtown! – street sweeping regulations are posted and strictly enforced, so follow the rules to avoid getting a ticket.
If you brought a car, you will be able to get around with no problems. Colfax is the easiest way to get to Downtown or Golden. It also connects to I-25, the main North-South artery for the Denver area.
Light rail trains are also an excellent way to get around Denver. Catch the W line at Sheridan Station, a 5-minute walk away. East will take you to Union Station (Downtown) while West will get you to Golden. From Union Station, you can also change trains to get to a variety of destinations.
For those without a car, we also recommend using a ride sharing service like Uber or Lyft. Both are readily available in Denver and its suburbs. Denver itself is very walkable, and you will see rental bikes and scooters scattered around town.
If you’ve never been to Denver, it’s easy to get oriented. The Rocky Mountains are to the West, and Downtown is East of where you will be staying. I-70 West will take you into the mountains and straight to the ski areas, while I-70 East intersects with I-25 for access to Fort Collins to the North and Colorado Springs to the South. The 36 takes you to Boulder, and eventually the Rocky Mountain National Park gateway towns of Lyons and Estes Park. Get exploring!
Other Things to Note:
This is a non-smoking, non-vaping home! Not even outside the home. We appreciate that some of our guests may wish to indulge in some of Colorado’s herbal offerings, but this is not the place! An odor fee will be added to your reservation if this policy is violated. Thank you in advance for your compliance.
No pets, parties or overnight guests who are not on the reservation.
Amenities include self-check-in, a fully stocked kitchen, coffee, fast WIFI and Smart TV.
We do have neighbors, and the main floor is occupied. Please observe the quiet hours of 10 PM to 8 AM. If you are outside late at night, keep your voice low and be respectful.
The home is climate-controlled by A/C and Heating systems for a comfortable stay.
Please note: If any reservation is extended to 29 days or more, we will bill in advance for an estimated hourly deep clean.
