Little Kingsley farmstay, cottage on a little farm 1hr from Sydney & Wollongong
Perfect for a winter getaway with our cosy slow combustion wood fire inside and our fire pit outside. This beautiful two bedroom cottage accommodation is situated on part of our ten acre rural property with views of the dam and overlooking the paddocks where our sheep roam freely. The property is partly surrounded by natural Australian bush which is home to kangaroos, cockatoos, kookaburras and many more varieties of Australian animals. The cottage is well appointed with a large kitchen including dishwasher and microwave and the living area has a slow combustion wood fire to keep you warm and cozy in the winter while enjoying a glass of red or cup of hot chocolate. The cottage also has ducted air conditioning to keep you cool in the summer. The large outdoor area includes a gas barbeque and outdoor dining as well as a long bench with bar stools where you can just sit and enjoy the scenery. We are located just 2.5 kms from Thirlmere township and the NSW Train Museum which offers steam train rides every weekend and regular visits from Thomas the Tank Engine and is also home to the Steam Train Festival which is held annually in March. Thirlmere Lakes National Park and the spectacular Mermaid Pools and Potholes are within a ten minute drive with many bushwalking trails and swimming holes. Cedar Creek orchard is a five minute drive away where you can pick your own seasonal fruit and they also offer apple juice, cider and honey for sale, check their website for bookings and dates. Whether you want to just get away from it all, relax and unwind or bring the family and checkout the local attractions. We are only about an hours drive from Sydney and about half an hour from Bowral and the Southern Highlands, perfect for a family getaway or a romantic weekend. Also only 50 minutes drive from the Wollongong beaches.
Lovely little getaway with my family House was comfortable, clean, has everything you need . The kids loved feeding the sheep, playing outside and sit next to the fire pit and night .
We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Little Kingsley. The cottage is well set up, we made the most of the outdoors for meals, we were very comfortable. Alaine was very friendly and helpful and it made our stay very enjoyable.Waking up to the sheep and duck and the peaceful farm each morning was a real treat. My kids loved it and especially meeting Pepsi and Scooter.I highly recommend visiting!
A really lovely place to stay near the Southern Highlands
Beautifully done little two bedroom property (with option of a third sleeping on the pull out couch). Nice linen. Quiet and private. The kids loved roasting marshmallows on the fire pit and seeing the sheep and occasional rabbit. Great little coffee shops nearby as well as shops to be able to get provisions to have at home. Would definitely stay again.
The property is very well kept and clean. Loved the sheep and wild ducks on our rainy day. Great atmosphere with the steam locos that were running. Only complaints were the only table was outside so dinner on the lounge and the main bed was very firm. Maybe the garage space could be better used? Very comfortable otherwise. Thanks for having us.
Little Kingsley is wonderfully set up for a convenient and tranquil getaway on the outskirts of Sydney and close to the Highlands. The newly renovated house was spotless, and we especially loved using the fire pit. Alaine was a perfectly attentive host, and communicated well with us. Only small discrepancy was that we had expected a few more animals, however we loved having the sheep around the house. Picton / Wollondilly area has a lot going for it- being a food bowl, itâs history and go karts!
Such a lovely little getaway with my young family.
The kids loved the cows and sheep that always came up to say hi.
House was clean, tidy and comfortable and the inside fire was so lovely. Close to picton (10 min drive) for a meal.
Great stay at the farm and perfect location for a couple of nights while visiting Thomas at the Rail Museum. Our 3 year old loved saying good morning to the animals.
Was very relaxing stay. Property was clean and had good amenities. There isn't a washing machine due, I believe, to tank water being in use but there is a laundromat not too far. Loved the sheep and cows. Would be happy to stay again
A beautiful area to stay in and enjoy the countryside. We visited for a weekend away from Sydney with the kids and they enjoyed seeing the cows and sheep and kangaroos. The cosy fireplace was perfect in the evenings and some nice food options in Picton.
Alaine was great with communication and very helpful at giving us advice for the local area. Thanks for a great stay
We loved the property and communication and directions from the owner were great. The accommodation has everything you need and was very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.
This was a wonderful stay in a great location. We visited from Central Coast,NSW and it was the perfect little weekend away. Very clean with lots of nice touches. We will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone travelling with another couple looking for a quiet and wholesome getaway.
Had a wonderul weekend in Thirlmere with nights kept warm with a cozy fireplace (their is an air con, but the fireplace keepa the whole house warm and adds a cozy atmosphere), a fully fitted out kitchen and a clean and comfortable house that we'll definitely be returning to.
