Comfortable beds, decent kitchen and kitchen supplies. I loved the garden and the chickens. The neighborhood was wonderful to walk around. I especially enjoyed Catineâs library!
Although the property could use some basic maintenance, it was clean and we appreciated its history. The fourth bed, which is why we chose the property, was a daybed with no real mattress or bedding. The location was great and we walked downtown to eat and shop.
Our group of friends had a great time in Bastrop and the house really helped make that happen. We were able to easily walk to downtown Bastrop to eat and shop the cute little stores. There was a huge table in the dining room that we played games at every night and the bedrooms were all clustered together upstairs making it feel like a cozy slumber party.
We came to Bastrop for the F1 race in Austin. Stayed at the main house (there is a cottage as well which we stayer at least time). It was very spatious and convenient to a nice downtown area. The house is 'historical' but does the job. It's well maintained, has a nice screened balcony area, and we had ample room.
My two sisters and I plan a yearly getaway in the spring to celebrate our birthdays and just connect. This year we chose Bastrop as they were having a large market event in the convention center.
This is a lovely home and we had a wonderful weekend. Itâs close to everything downtown where we spent most of our time. Had everything we needed and it was very comfortable. Definitely recommend this beautiful historic home if youâre planning a trip to Bastrop!
We enjoyed everything about this property. The many antiques, the art, the porches, garden, chicken coop all made for a wonderful experience. The home is only a short walk to Fisherman's Park and the historic downtown area. Beds are comfy, cold ac, and 3 bathrooms (1 downstairs, 2 up) Bedrooms are spaced out upstairs by a wonderful hallway and library. Love Bastrop and the First Friday events. Hope to return soon.
Built in 1832 and saturated with history, this is an incredible home to experience and stay. The beds are comfy. Rooms are large and bathrooms gorgeous. The kitchen is purposefully antiquated while also allowing modern coffee maker, microwave and fridge. Catineâs artwork and sculptures flatter the homes yard and walls... but the highlight is the garden. My daughter floated out of the car and exclaimed, âitâs the Secret Gardenâ. She proceeded to eat the pears and persimmons and pluck fresh basil, thyme, lavender, bell peppers... before heading to gather a couple eggs. Ten minute walk to park/ downtown. The location and history are ideal.
Charming old house, lots of space. Great location.
Great for families but difficult with group of adults. We were 4 adults with 1 infant. Itâs great if youâre gonna be gone and eat out most of time. living room has daybed, not real sofa and 2 chairs. Master BR has claw tub so ended up 4 adults sharing 1 tiny bathroom. Twin bed is not functional, mattress is so bad- we planned on that for 1 adult sleeping. Porches are amazing and plenty of space to relax. Kitchen is ok-Old Oven needs replacing or repair. Frustrating when trying to cook. Freezer was full upon arrival of owners food. Itâs a lovely property, just expect that itâs really an old home youâre borrowing and not a typical rental.
