First, the home and location were both very nice and what we wanted for our escape weekend.
Second, this was a spur of the moment weekend getaway for my wife and I, booking it just a week ahead of time.
The problems were all issues with the booking, checking in, and management company.
1) I am still waiting for the rental management company to answer my e-mail about some questions I had about the property.
Issues that were required that weren't mentioned in the rental agreement:
2) a separate form needed to sent in to the Big Bass Lake Association, through the owner, and be received "at least 5 days ahead of check in." The fine for this is $500 if it isn't received.
3) it took at least 8 hours for the owner to contact me when I had a concern.
4) the management company sends me an e-mail telling me I needed a registration number to check-in. This is now less than 48 hours before I am to arrive. There is a phone number to call if I don't have the registration number. When I call the number it is to Big Bass Lakes, but the office is closed.
Next morning when I call the number I am told "we don't talk to the renters, only the owners." Only after pushing them will they let me know the number was "just sent" to the owner.
So now a day before I am to arrive I am trying to contact the owner-who, when he contacts me hours later-assures me everything is fine and that I don't need the number. He only unwillingly texts me the registration number which the company HE has hired insists I need, which he insist I don't need...(the owner was right, I was never asked for it, but these were all hassles I simply didn't need-or want, for a 2 night stay.)
So, again, the home was very nice, in a lovely area, very convenient to 2 state parks and the Big Bass amenities, there was a lot of hassle and confusion before the trip.
