We had a great stay coming into Halls Gap for the GPT 100 event. This place held 8 of us comfortably, was walking distance to town and provided a perfect, quiet place connected to nature to relax.
Stayed with my family and my sister's family, plenty of room for 9 of us, great to have two toilets and showers. Would come back without hesitation, had a wonderful stay here.
Great location close to the Halls gap town and a playground where Kangaroos gather in the evenings. House was clean with all amenities required for our holiday.
Property was clean and quiet. Only comment that it would be good if there were a couple of spare rolls of toilet paper as there were 8 adults and we stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. It was not even full rolls luckily we had our own spare roll. Also would be good if there were more paper and tea towels available. There were only a few sheets of paper towel left. Would be good if all these amenities were fully provided as personal amenities were not provided.
Good space for family gathering. Sunny deck, outdoor fireplace, warm, comfortable couches and beds
Kookaburra Retreat was clean and kitchen well equipped. However a few small details needed attention, only one bath mat between 2 bathrooms, no pot scrubber, no soap in laundry/bathroom, and huge problems with kangaroos knocking over the rubbish bins and spreading and eating refuse - plastic bags etc. This happened twice and we had to clean up the refuse. Need to design a fenced area that they canât get to.
And no response from Manager about these problems. However she did respond promptly when electricity went off
Majorly disappointed when we arrived. The house was filthy. I had to vacuum and mop the kitchen/living area as it hadn't been done since the last tenants. I contacted the PM regarding this & received a quick response & apology & a small compensation for this.
The house just needs a good scrub from top to bottom.
Location is great however we didn't realise there was another unit attached to the back of the property. Day 2 of our stay 6 cars appeared in our driveway as they were stay in the rear property.
Overall for the price we paid per night we were extremely disappointed with this property and would not look to return.
Overall well appointed house with everything that we needed for a group of people to stay and close to all the attractions and amenities of Halls Gap. Great to have two showers and toilets for everyone. The only let down was that the two bunk beds are somewhat flimsy and moved a lot whenever either occupant shifted which led to some poor nights sleep in those.
We had a lovely time at kookaburra retreat in the midst of winter. The property is well maintained and clean, and best of all very close to all amenities/town. We had little ones with us and even they managed to walk to town. The kangaroos kept knocking the bins over and we had to pick up rubbish two mornings in a row but aside from that it was a great stay. Lots of wildlife around.
A wonderful stay at Halls Gap and Kookaburra Retreat. We had a few minor plumbing problems but resolved immediately...thanks to Janet who responded promptly.
A very comfortable, clean house with all mod cons.
Great big house. I was surprised to see there was 2 houses in our area, there is 1 to the front and 1 at the back. I wasnât aware of this and thought Iâd have uninterrupted views of the mountains out the back. This was not the case as we were in the front house. But besides that we had a nice time and canât find fault in the house. It had all we needed.
If you like to park the car and leave it there for the duration of your stay then Kookaburra Retreat is a winner. It is an easy walk or ride to all of the facilities of Halls Gap aswell as being in a lovely quiet location away from the main road. Chataqua peak, Venus baths and the more strenuous Pinnacle hike are all a short walk away.
The kitchen is well appointed and the dining/living area is very spacious and comfy. You could easily accommodate two families but our teenage kids enjoyed having a room to themselves.
And the deck is just the perfect spot for afternoon drinks!
It was overall a fantastic stay. The location is perfect, the house is really very comfortable and clean. It felt like a home away from home! Would score it 5 out of 5!! We will be back!!
This is the second time we have stay here. A wonderful weekend getaway with the family for a special birthday. There was everything that we needed including the morning kangaroos that came to say hello.
My group loved this place. It wasnât exactly roughing it in the Grampians but it still feels like the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Exactly what we needed for our extended group and had a great summer holiday
We were looking for a place to cater for 8 adults/7 kids and this property had 2 houses next to each other to cater for this. It was great to have 2x properties to break up the group but close enough to join during the day and more importantly, at night when the kids were asleep. Great place for a care free family summer holiday with all you need
We loved our stay at grampians holiday retreat cottage 1. Clean spacious and planets of linen and kitchen equipment for use. Dishwasher, 1 toilet, and 1 bathroom with toilet made it easy for our group. Walking distance to town. Will be back.
Thank you for such an amazing location. The house was clean and inviting with all the commodities that you would need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The town is just a few minutes away. There are walking tracks just a few steps away in the amazing backyard. You will see nature up close and will forget that there are other houses near. The house was amazing will definitely try book again.
