The cabin is very private. There is absolutely no noise from traffic etc. Our doggies loved it. There was an excellent area outside for them to take a walk and take care of their needs. Kevin was respectful of our need for privacy. He did connect with us as we were leaving. The cabin is well supplied and well-furnished in every way.
The cabin was a perfect vacation getaway! Clean, cozy and exactly what we were looking for. Close to the downtown and the park entrance. Would love to stay again!
Thank you for a fantastic stay in Bar Harbor. The cabin was close to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor. The Wifi was strong and the cabin was clean! We would definitely stay again!
Perfect location-close to Acadia & downtown Bar Harbor. Kevin was an attentive host & provided great recommendations for meals & activities. My husband and I had a wonderful time relaxing & reconnecting with our teens. We all loved spending evenings down by the water & searching for sea glass. Wonderful vacation had by all!
We loved our week at the Pines! It was the perfect location, close by to Hulls Cove entrance at Acadia NP and close by to downtown Bar Harbor. It was also easy to get to other other areas, less than an hour to Schoodic.
Check in and check out was easy and communcation was easy too.
The cabin had everything we needed and was nestled in the woods. It was so nice to sit on the deck in the evening after a long day at the park.
Great location! Nice and private. One other cabin and the main house on the property. Enough privacy for us and our two dogs. Cabin is cute, pretty bare bones but what we expected. Biggest complaint was that there wasn't enough lighting in the cabin. Other than that, we were very happy.
My friends and I had a wonderful stay at The Pines! The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and so close to Bar Harbor and Acadia while feeling like we were deep in the woods. We loved drinking our coffee on the deck and watching the morning birds and going down to the shared picnic table and deck for evening drinks while watching the sunset over the water. The cabin had everything we needed--the kitchen was well-stocked with pots and utensils, the electric heaters and wood stove kept us cozy, and the water pressure was nice and strong. Kevin was a wonderful host, responsive and knowledgeable. While we were disappointed that the water access was not available for our trip, we found that there were so many other ways to enjoy the area and the water that we didn't end up missing it too much. We are looking forward to the next time we can get away for another week in the Maine woods. Thank you for a lovely, restful stay!
My husband and I spent the first week of October 2022 at The Pines cabin at Baycliff on Frenchman Bay. The cabin was exactly what we needed - secluded and quiet! It is well-appointed with the basics - we did some simple cooking and had everything we needed. Even though it is tucked in the woods, there is fast wifi, which is a great combination -- we did not use the television setup, but appreciated the wifi for making plans and reservations. Because of the time of year, the nights were cold (30-40 degrees), so we made good use of the wood stove, which heated everything up nicely. We also appreciated the wall heater in the bathroom! The only issue was the lighting (it's a bit dark, though serviceable), which the property owner plans to address. He was very communicative via text at check-in without being intrusive, and we felt comfortable that he would provide or arrange assistance if anything came up. Overall a great place to stay and a wonderful vacation - thank you!
While the location of the property is great, we had unexpected issues with a fireplace that was not working (plus we had to go to several different places to get matches, kindling, and wood). A starter set of these, with suggestions on where to get more, would have been helpful. There are two small radiant heaters provided, but since this cabin has absolutely no insulation, the bedrooms were extremely cold. The smoke detectors were not functioning and between the faulty fireplace and this safety issue, we left a day early. The owner did reimburse us for that last night, which we appreciated. Blankets were provided but some are pretty old. Beds were comfortable.
The shower in the bathroom is very small and while there was plenty of hot water, the spray was light and it was hard to get a decent mix of hot and cold water.
We didn't mind the mis-matched dishes, but the pots and pans are old, scratched, and rusty, as are the utensils. The cabin is dated and shows it.
If and when we return to the area, we would not rent this property again and cannot in good conscience recommend it to others in its present condition.
This was our second time staying in The Pines, and we will undoubtedly be back. The cabin is rustic, but well-appointed. We did a mix of eating out and cooking at "home," and had all of the equipment we needed. I appreciate the privacy and quiet of the cabin, while still being close to everything that the Park and Bar Harbor have to offer.Kevin is wonderful host, and skilled at checking in without being obtrusive. We knew we could reach him and/or the building caretaker if we needed anything, but all was well until we checked out. If you stay in the late Fall (my favorite time), plan to use the wood stove - which makes the cabin cozy, especially if it rains. Thank you again for a lovely visit!
Perfect location, close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Love the deck amongst the towering oaks. Quiet. Rustic, great wood stove, all the appliances you'd need. Great shower! This was our second stay and will definitely go back. Dogs lovved the deck also!
Overall, the location was excellent. Right outside of Bar Harbor and also close to a lot of and other towns and of course, right near Acadia NP, which was the draw for us. The biggest problem was that the cabin was not cleaned well. Bath mats were dirty, dead flies left on the window sill, everything had a layer of dust unfortunately, it just didnât feel clean. There was dog hair on the bathroom floor dog and all over the welcome mat. I reached out to the property manager, and they quickly addressed some of the issues, but overall the place was not clean in my opinion. Well, I understand this is a cabin and things arenât going to be totally sealed. Theyâre just seemed to be a lack of attention to detail when it came to preparing the inside for the next guests. The glass slats on the door were filthy. I ended up wiping a lot of things down and vacuuming while I was there. Also the shower is tiny and could use an upgrade. Although plenty of hot water. I am glad I brought my own pillows and blankets and towels. The towels that were offered were very worn and while they mightâve been clean, I didnât want to use them. I appreciated that it was a dog friendly cabin and the location, but it needs a major cleaning.
Overall, we had a a lovely stay at this cabin! It was clean, the setting was beautiful and allowed our young kids ample space to run and explore outdoors, and it was very convenient to the town of Bar Harbor and our exploration of Acadia. The view from the deck is beautiful - we enjoyed walking down there at different times, seeing the different tides, and even seeing an eagle in front of the sunrise our last day!The cabin sleeping arrangements changed between when we booked and when we visited, so we ended up having to bring an inflatable mattress to accommodate our family. Kevin explained that there has been a change to rental codes that required the removal of one bed.We do wish there had been a few extra amenities - such as a spare pillow or two and kitchen basics like salt/pepper and oil - but weâd still highly recommend this cabin as a home base while visiting Mt Desert Island! 🦞
If not for the weather being a bit too chilly for me all went well. I gave 1 star for the property manager because i texted her once and never got a response. I texted the owner and got a prompt reply. If its chilly expect to burn lots of wood as we did. The 2 space heaters work well with the wood stove to make it nice and cozy. We brought a fan with us and placed it to the left side of stove to circulate warm air coming off stove. That really worked well. Loved the shower, nice and hot and good pressure.
Well situated to get anywhere, nice surroundings, very wooded.Had eveything you needed in a kitchen. Loved the picture windows. The fact they accepted pets was the determning factor. Would go back again, absolutely!
We enjoyed such a peaceful week and slept so soundly! Loved enjoying my morning coffee while doing yoga on the deck with my daughter. We had easy access to get to every part of the island. Such a great place to come back to after our hiking, biking, and exploring activities! Easy access to and prompt replies from the property owner. Highly recommend this property.
We loved your cabin! While not right on the water, it was perfect to be in the woods a bit off the beaten path (yet still close to everything!). It was nice to sit on the dock and watch the wildlife and boaters in the evening. Sitting on the deck was so quiet and peaceful. We found ourselves sitting there in the morning and then again in the evening. The cabin provided all the basic needs. Kevin checked in on us to make sure all was good. Thank you for that!
We absolutely loved staying at the cabin. Everything was as advertised and the setting was picturesque. The cabin was relaxing and quiet and the weather couldnât have been more perfect. We canât wait to get back to Maine! Kevin was a fantastic host!
My son and I stayed here for a week. It's a bit rustic but well provisioned. Our first night the temperature dropped to 45 degrees - fortunately it has space heaters. By the end of the week the heat index was over 100 - but the property manager came to the rescue with two tower fans that were just right. The beautiful bouquet of cut flowers on the kitchen table was appreciated. I'd stay here again.
We just got back from a wonderful stay at The Pines. The cabin has everything you need and is in the perfect location. Great proximity to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor, as well as a nice mini golf spot. The cabin has a rustic vibe, and we loved that. It got chilly at night but the space heaters did the trick and we werenât cold at all. Our dog had a blast too!
My mom and dad started vacationing at Baycliff over 50 years ago. At that time weâd drive up from New Jersey (Metuchen, exit 10) and spend two weeks. I remember going deep sea fishing, hiking, sight seeing and all the other touristy things. Though I think my favorite activity was skipping rocks into the sea. Not that easy with waves and wind. In 1973 the property went up for sale and my dad immediately purchased it. Then we started staying a month at a time in the main house, which, back then, wasnât much larger than the cabins. One year we brought up all seven of our cats and a raccoon that I was fostering! Weâve been renting the two cabins for over 40 years now years now. The above picture is myself, my two daughters and my mom, who has been taking care of the cabins during the summer. Mt. Desert Island features may attractions. If you ride a bicycle, the carriage roads are amazing! If you like to hike, the hiking trails are amazing! If you like to bird, we have humming birds and warblers! There are also some very good restaurants in Bar Harbor and elsewhere on the island. This really is a wonderful place.
Baycliff will destress you. I donât know if itâs the quiet, the ocean, the cool clean air, the wind through the trees or the sounds of nature, but it will relax you.
