We had a great week at Ripples cottage. Itâs in a quiet neighborhood centrally located on MDI so very convenient to get all parts of the island. Everything was clean and as described in the listing. Host was very attentive and communication was quick.
We loved the cottage. Beautiful clean and the location for us wanting to see Acadia couldnât have better. Most trails were within just few minutes away.
Our family of 6 had a great visit to Acadia. The cottage met all our needs. Kitchen was well stocked, plenty of towels, etc. Perfect location with easy access to everything but a quiet evening escape.
Family and I stayed at cottage for two weeks
Very clean nice setup for younger kids
A bit of a drive into town but we were looking to stay on the quiet side of MDI so this was perfect for us. Great communication. Would stay here again.
My family of 4 and my dad stayed at Ripples Cottage for a week and it was a perfect place to stay! It was cozy but spacious. A close drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. On tainy days it there were lots of puzzles and games to play. And we loved sitting ouside at might by the chimenea
This was the perfect cottage, in the perfect location, for the perfect vacation to Mount Desert Island. The cottage was so homey and comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The processes for check in and check out were convenient and easy. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cottage with us.
We had a lovely stay, I loved the location and spread out ability of the property. Having laundry on site was a big plus. Also really appreciated having linens and towels provided since we were traveling from far away. The kitchen was well set up for our needs and the beds were super comfortable!
The Ripples cottage was very clean and the appliances were new. Beds were comfortable. Good Wi-Fi. Lots of windows to enjoy occasional visits by wild turkeys and deer. Quiet neighborhood, but close to villages and Acadia Park entrance. Over all nice place.
The cottage had absolutely everything we needed. It was very clean and directions were very clear. We stayed as 2 adult couples so the 2 bathrooms were perfect! I would not hesitate to stay here again. Beautiful garden too
We loved Ripples cottage. Very spacious layout and perfectly centered in the middle of MDI. The yard was great, where I toddler spent most of the time hunting for mushrooms. Definitely looking to return again next year.
Just got back to MD from a great week at Ripples Cottage. Bobbie was a wonderful host. Cottage was clean, comfy, new appliances, and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking. It was in a great spot for accessing all of the island in short drives. We would definitely stay again.
Ripples Cottage was everything we wanted. It was cozy and had all the conveniences we needed. The location was ideal - it was close to the highlights of Acadia and an easy drive into Bar Harbor. We loved being so close to Long Pond, where we rented kayaks for a lovely paddle. We hope to stay here again in the future!
My husband, friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our week on Mt Desert Island. The house was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed. We ate clams, lobsters, hiked Acadia, and sat around a fire each evening. It was perfect and we will cherish the good memories!
Ripples Cottage sits between the "Quiet Side" and the busier eastern side of Mount Desert Island, making it super convenient to get to either bustling Bar Harbor or the less crowded areas of Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor. The property is private, comfortable, and full of amenities to make your stay enjoyable. Bobbie was quick to respond to any questions I had and check in/check out was very easy. Highly recommend!
Ripples Cottage captures you as you first walk in with it's wall of windows and a peaceful view of the yard and lots of green trees. Our favorite walk down, what else?, Ripples Road brings us to more Ripples as the water comes pouring from the lake and down a series of steps, under the road to manifest as a stream on the other side. It was a wonderful property, and communication with the host was simple.
MDI has the Bar Harbor side of MDI and the Quietside of the island. At the cottage you can sit in the yard reading among tall trees and think you are the only one around. We preferred the Quietside, Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor, the Flamingo Festival, the craft fairs and the farmers market, all near Ripples Cottage But Bar Harbor Harbor is only 10 to 15 minutes away. Bar Harbor is exciting with plenty of great things to do. Donât miss two of the most interesting museums, the Granite museum and Abbe museum.
Our week stay here at Ripples cottage, celebrating our Anniversaries, was absolutly Wonderful in every way! As we walked under the archway we entered into a relaxing, serendipitous, character filled, home away from home atmosphere! From the "Picture painting wall of windows"in the kitchen/living room to the master bedroom with another spacious place to relax, this place was put together by an artistic eye as you'll see! The landscape was so pretty in the Spring with pretty azaleas under the gentle whispering pine trees and so much more!
We loved hearing the owls and seeing the deer outback and wild turkeys along the quiet road we walked out front too. Making our meals and using all the new appliances was a joy as we celebrated our vacation here! Thank-you Bobbie for sharing this masterpiece with us on the quiet side of Acadia, we hope to come back some day!
Great cabin with many features that make a long stay on the island a fantastic time. The cabin has plenty of almost everything that we needed. Lots of sheets and towels. Fully stocked kitchen with a variety of pots and pans, small and large for cooking anything. Outdoor space for playing and hanging out. Great indoor space for eating and hanging out. Comfortable beds, good bathrooms, good space to spread out. Location is good if you want to explore all of Mt. Desert Island. Eastern locations of Acadia can seem far (20 to 30 min. drive) but western locations like Pretty Marsh and spots to the south like Bass Lighthouse are more like 15 min. Nice IGA grocery is 10 min. south. Location is just south from Long Pond boat launch which has a kayak rental. Much of southern Long Pond is Acadia NP and open to public access. In communication with the owner all week but never really needed anything. Had a great time and would highly recommend.
Our family of 5 had a great stay at Ripples Cottage! The property was spotless upon arrival and felt like our own little fairy cottage in the forrest. A binder of info on restaurants and things to do was on the table along with a guest book signed by previous guests that gave rave reviews and even more ideas for things to do. The water pressure in the showers was amazing and they provided the fluffiest bath towels. The only thing I would change were the 2 living room chairs. They werenât comfortable. An additional couch or love seat wouldâve been great instead. We just brought in a few camping chairs from the car and were fine. Being in Acadia we didnât plan to spend much time inside so not a big deal.
Board games in the closet came in handy on a couple of rainy days and made for a lot of family fun. The location between Bar Harbor and the quiet side of the island was perfect. Easy access to the best of both worlds. Great organic farmers market right up the street too. Bobbie was very easy to communicate with and prompt to respond. Itâs obvious she takes a lot of pride in ensuring her guests are taken care of. We would absolutely stay at Ripples Cottage again. Itâs a little slice of heaven!
Peaceful and quiet. Plenty of indoor space and great screened in porch to relax and unwind. Kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked most meals at home. Easy drive to Bar Harbour, and great hiking trails nearby.
I moved to Maine 30 years ago, thinking it may be a temporary stay. I never left. Nature is one of the most important things to me and Acadia offers more than I can possibly keep up with in my spare time. In the middle of summer I still am able to hike without seeing another soul, go for a bike ride any time of day, kayak in any number of lakes or coves, and swim at the end of a long day. As a landscape designer I see the beauty of nature and capture that in my work. And for those days when I just want to get away, I find solace in the fact that I can walk out my back door and step into Acadia National Park.
My office was located on Mount Desert Island for nearly 9 years. The structure that housed it was previously a seasonal rental and it begged to become 'one' again. I completely renovated the interior, I moved my office to a neighboring town, and Ripples Cottage was reborn. Since then each off season I do more improvements to make your stay more enjoyable each summer. Most recently, I have replaced all the appliances and master bedroom king bed.
Ripples Cottage is located on a quiet side street with little traffic. One of the things my family and I love about staying there is the solitude of the space. Being set back from the road even when cars do pass by, we feel protected. We also love the meadow behind the house and woods edge that forms the perimeter of the property. The loons call to each other between the three lakes and the owls serenade us most evenings. It is a true home away from home feeling for us when we have the luxury of staying in our own rental.
