À propos de cet hébergement

Il s'agit d'une charmante maison de style chalet avec une façade côtière de 200 pieds sur Bass Harbor, avec vue sur le port et les îles périphériques. Le chalet est situé sur un terrain boisé privé (vous filtrant des voisins), avec une grande terrasse de 12 'x 24' donnant sur le port.

Détendez-vous sur le pont et regardez les homards, les voiliers, les canoës, les kayakistes et le ferry Swans Island dans le port, ou profitez de la vue depuis le salon entièrement équipé, le coin repas ou la chambre avec vue sur l'océan. Les enfants adoreront nourrir les canards qui visitent le rivage, et vous apprécierez également les couchers de soleil de notre rivage. Ils sont spectaculaires! Le «Chalet» dispose également d'un grand parking hors route.

La propriété est adjacente au parc national Acadia, qui offre de beaux paysages et ces possibilités de loisirs: montagnes, vue sur l'océan, lacs d'eau douce et sentiers de randonnée. Des croisières naturalistes et des randonnées, l'observation des baleines, le kayak, le vélo sur les routes carrossables et les fruits de mer sont également disponibles! Il y a de nombreux restaurants à moins de 5 km.

REMARQUE: Le prix de la nuit a été réduit du 12 octobre au 2 novembre, car les services de télévision et de WiFi ont été fermés. Une connexion Wi-Fi est disponible à la Southwest Harbor Library. Votre coût de location est ainsi réduit de plus de 25% pendant cet intervalle et est de 44% inférieur à nos tarifs d'été.

All rubbish must be placed in supplied tall plastic bags (max of 6) and rubbish tote taken to end of driveway by 10:00 a.m. on Thursdays.

At least one load of laundry should be run before final departure on Saturday. The house also should be left reasonably neat as well.

There should not be a "large" number of day visitors, because it may tax the water supply and sceptic system. (To date this has not been a problem.)

A Great Week on the Quiet Side

House is exactly as promised.. Beautiful spot on the water. House was very clean. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Bedrooms are upstairs from the bathroom which was ok for us. Owner very responaive to queations / requeats.

Great communication with the owner. Beautiful property. Quaint chalet. You can tell the owners take pride in it and it is very well taken care of. They genuinely care about the guests that stay and their chalet. They had lots information on things to do. Wonderful memories made. I really hope we can make it back here one day!

Great house in a beautiful location!

My wife and our two teenage daughters had a wonderful week staying at this house. As described, the house is right on Bass Harbor, which makes hiking around Acadia and going to the ocean very easy. We love 'the quiet side' of Mt. Desert Island and Warren's house is the perfect spot to enjoy it. We hope to come back!

Peace on MDI

This is such a lovely little chalet right on the water. On the quiet side of the island which is what we wanted. Absolutely loved just sitting outside and watching the changing tides. Several restaurant options nearby but everything you need to cook at the chalet too. Very clean and lots of information provided by the hosts. Easy check in and out. Will definitely stay here if we are able to return to Maine again.

Wonderful Peaceful Location

The Chalet was incredible and the owners were fabulous in their communication. It was easy to find, very clean, very peaceful and a beautiful location. Everything was perfect and I would stay there a million more times!

Great location

Great location, near Acadia but away from the crowds. Nice views, that change dramatically with the tide. The chalet has all you need, and was clean and comfortable. Communication from the host was good as well.

Exceptional in every way!

17 years visiting Maine, last 5 yrs MDI area. The Elvin's Cottage by far the best overall stay! Cleanliness of the cottage, felt like staying in someone's home, not a rental. Communication fast, and friendly with many suggestions. Location, honestly the best for everything. We drove 1500 miles from GA, What's another 20 miles to Bar Harbor area. This year we came to relax, walk the carriage roads and Jordan's pond and eat Lobster everyday! Purchasing Lobster from Long Hill Lobster guy and wife, and cooking at the cottage, eating on the deck was the best! Along with take out from Thurston's. Plan on returning 2024

Wonderful Vacation Chalet!

My husband and I spent a very comfortable and cozy week at the Elvins Chalet! We celebrated his birthday and our anniversary during the week. The Chalet had everything we needed including privacy on the deck in front of the Harbor!! We visited Acadia National Park and took several day trips exploring the island. Would definitely return!

Quieter side of MDI

The quaint chalet was a perfect location for my family as we revisited Mount Desert Island. We chose the quieter side away from the bustling Bar Harbor. The chalet amenities fit our family of 4, especially the deck overlooking the harbor. The detailed instructions provided in the mail by the Elvins as well as at the chalet were helpful in finding new things to do in addition to Acadia National Park. We had a wonderful time and appreciate the Elvins' sharing their chalet with us.

Perfect Chalet

We absolutely loved this Chalet! It was so picturesque and the cleanest and most well stocked VRBO we've ever rented. The owners truly care about their renters, which is evident in all the helpful information they share about the chalet, as well as the surrounding area, places to see, things to do, restaurants to try, etc. We hope to visit MDI in the future and make this chalet our home base again. Lovely Chalet

My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks and loved it! This chalet was the perfect location on Mount Desert Island if you want to get away from the big crowds of the park and Bar Harbor. It is tucked away in a little, quiet neighborhood with a stunning view of the harbor. The house itself was everything we needed. Properly equipped with the kitchen supplies we needed to cook for our 2 weeks there. Warren was an excellent host and ensured we had everything we needed!

Your own private Harbor

Quiet, clean, private, beautiful…a little piece of Maine Harbor life!! It was fun returning from Acadia hikes to relax and watch the sunsets! The tidal ebbs and flows were fascinating!! Gorgeous views from every window!! Easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor!! Would stay again in a heartbeat!! Thanks

Great Location

We enjoyed being on the water but away from the more hectic Bar Harbor side. It was a short drive to many trails in Acadia as well as sights outside. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Chalet.

Great place to stay. Close enough to enjoy everything in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, yet far enough away from all of the hustle and bustle. Warren was a wonderful host There is a ton of information about what to do on the island right in the information binder that he has in the chalet. Very helpful!

Mildewy and not very clean

The property is in a nice location right on the water, but it’s a long drive to Acadia National park and to Ellsworth. The house is older, and has a mildewy smell. The kitchen and bathroom hadn’t been cleaned well - surfaces were wiped down, but in particular the shower and toilet in the bathroom needed a good scrub. When we arrived the exterior trash shed was full. The owners’ instructions for where to put the trash on pick up day were confusing. (I’m guessing this is why prior tenants left their trash in the shed). But the owners charged us extra for not emptying our and other tenants’ trash.

My husband and I spent a week at the Chalet and loved it. The home is on a quiet street and has a lovely waterfront view. The neighbors were kind, friendly and, bonus, one neighbor walks her goats every afternoon. We appreciated the cleanliness of the property and the family feel of the home, it truly feels like you are staying with a relative.

Acadia vacation

We had a wonderful week in Acadia and loved staying at the chalet on the quiet side of the island. It was the perfect home base for our day trips around Acadia, and we enjoyed watching the harbor and the tide come and go from the deck. The house was very comfortable for a family of four.

Wonderful Week!

We had an incredible week at the Elvin Chalet. Unfortunately, it went way too fast! The Elvin family is a pleasure to work with, and they provided lots of helpful information to make our stay go smoother. The location was so peaceful and relaxing, exactly what we needed. We are looking forward to staying here again next year.

Breathtaking views of Bass Harbor

Warren & Judy’s Bass Harbor Home was lovely. We couldn’t get enough of the view from their porch. Their home is clean, well-stocked with supplies, and contains a binder with all the information that you will need about local restaurants, activities, and some interesting history. Warren and Judy were very helpful and responsive. We highly recommend staying at the Chalet.

Great MDI location!

We had a great week at Elvin's Chalet! The views from the house are beautiful and it's in a quiet, peaceful location. Perfect if you want a break from the busier parts of the island! The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed during our stay. The hosts were very helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay here again!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

A quiet escape after sightseeing while still having an ocean view and not far from the Island's most scenic spots. Many amenities are provided, some of which were requested by previous renters. Our rates are very competitive compared to comparable properties.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Our property is on a 0.3 mile dead-end, paved road, so it doesn't see a lot of traffic. Parking is off road in our spacious driveway. Our property is lined with greenery (mostly white spruce) so there's a good measure of privacy as well. Several renters have commented that it serves as a 'quiet oasis' after a hectic day of sightseeing. Perhaps that helps explain the fact that we have MANY repeat guests. Some have returned for five, six, and seven years. One couple was with us for ten years!
