We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - canât recommend it enough. The house was so clean and tidy, we had no concerns especially at the moment with Covid. Catherine greeted us and showed us about, she is very kind and her English is brilliant (our french needs work!)
Everything is well maintained, the pool rota system worked really well especially having 3 properties using it.
The location is perfect, a bakery within cycling distance and so many wonderful places to explore and visit.
We would love to stay here again!
The pool is fabulous, clean and well taken care of. The area very quiet. Beds a bit short, showers tight and not all utensils clean upon arrival.
Landlady is very kind, appraochable and speaks good english.
The property was clean and every attention to detail had been considered. The hosts made us feel very welcome and had drinks on nibbles on Sunday evening for us to meet the two families who were guests. We were in the "red" house - red accent colours, which has a superb master bedroom / living room. This is a very spacious property with lovely outside space. The pool and games room were very welcome additions. Plenty to do in the area - especailly lovely to visit the many stunning Chateaus nearby.
We stayed in the red gite which was well equipped. We loved the beautiful grounds that the gites are in. The pool is fantastic with plenty of seats and sun beds to relax. The gite is in a fantastic location near the river and in easy access of local towns and shops. We really enjoyed our welcome evening with lovely wine and nibbles- a very pleasant surprise! This also gave us the chance to meet the other guests. Catherine was very helpful before and throughout our stay.
Wonderful surprise in the calm Loire area. Everything you need during a holiday is available. Tastefully decorated gite, lovely garden. Bicycles, game room, beautifully located swimming pool. Welcoming and attentive hosts, much-appreciated aperitif on Sunday with other guests. Lots to do and see in the area. Thank you Catherine and Jean Francois for an enjoyable stay.
Fabulous property .. everything is yellow in the hire we stayed in which adds to its charm ...pool is great to cool off in on a hot day. Ideally situated for cycling in the loire valley and to visit angers and saumur .owners invite you to aperitif evening on the Sunday which is an ideal opportunity to meet other families staying in the adjoining gites .....and the food and wine are spectacular !!!
We travelled as a family of 3 and stayed in the tournesol.
The accommodation was amazing, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you needed and things you didn't need(which was nice) the bedrooms were large and very comfortable.
The games barn was a real treat, we spent lots of time with my son playing table tennis and badminton.
The bikes you can use are really good fun we went out on a nice ride around the local area with our son and the daughter of one of the other families staying at the same time and before we new it we was out for over 2hours.
The swimming pool was very well maintained and was lovely to use although we only used it a couple of times as we were out exploring the Loire region.
The owners are very welcoming and the get together they have on the Sunday with the other guests is great, it breaks the ice and makes for an enjoyable week with the other guests.
We couldn't of asked for anything else from this holiday, great location, great property, great owners and met some lovely families during our stay.
After a long trip from Ireland, we arrived about 21:45, and were warmly greeted by Catherine and her husband, who provided us with a tour, and a bottle of wine, despite the late hour!
The following evening we were invited to join them and the other guests for lovely home made food and drinks.
we stayed in the Pivoine barn, 2 adults and 3 teenagers, and it was more than spacious enough for us all!
We spent hours in the lovely swimming pool, borrowed bikes to cycle to near by villages, and enjoyed table tennis tournaments in the evening!
The location is stunning, the Loire itself runs a two minute walk across the road. There are many beautiful towns and castles to visit, but the kids felt their favorite day was when we stayed at the barn, swam, read, and went on bike ride.
It is so beautiful and peaceful here, and the Melliacs are lovely hosts, I would love to be back there now!!
We stayed in Le Pivoine with our 2 kids and my mother-in-law. It was perfect. The boys had the loft with a bed and their own room and my mother-in-law had the other single room all to herself. We enjoyed the ping-pong and bikes to ride. Everything was clean and the restaurant suggestions were great! We would definitely recommend this to friends.
We stayed in the Iris and thoroughly enjoyed it. The apartment very clean and was well equipped if a little small for our liking. The property is truly only metres from the Loire in a quiet area. with the most spectacular sunsets over the river. The pool was a major bonus as we all enjoy the water. It was very clean and well kept with sunbeds and chairs around it. The property is enclosed and would be very safe for children, there is also a Barn with games and bikes etc to keep them occupied, it also has WiFi. The weather was at times very hot and heat in the bedrooms at night was sometimes an issue.
M et Mme were very friendly and helpful, with lots of advice on places of interest. Their "Aperitifs" on Sundays were very enjoyable and a good way to get to know other guests. During our time there were other families from Holland, Sweden. England and Denmark so it had a very cosmopolitan feel.
It is extremely well situated to tour the Loire area, we visited many towns and Chateau and also Doue Zoo and Pouy de Fou which were well worth while. The home of Leonardo Da Vinci, Clos Luce, was very interesting. There are nice restaurants, and a local market and numerous supermarkets all within easy reach. We spent a lot of time in Saumur which is a lovely town with a Chateau which is worth a visit and they do a "Spectacle" which was very well done.
All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday and would love to return for a second time though this time we would go for a bigger gite. We would be very happy to recommend it as a good holiday location.
We can strongly recommend this location in la Bohalle. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. We really appreciated their welcome aperetif. The swimming pool and the playing room are just perfect for children (and adults) in all ages. The place is clean, the beds are done when you arrive and you find everything you need in the appartment (including tv, dvd, washing machine, barbacue etc).
There are a lot of castles, caves, wine yards and other things to see in this area, you do need a car. The village is very small, the closest boulangerie/ bakery is 6 km away, but you can borrow a bicycle from the hosts and go there in 20 minutes to get bread. We did not go to restaurants for dinner, but had wonderful barbecues with other guests.
We spent more than 3 weeks in France - the week in la Bohalle was the best.
Our whole family (two adults and three children at the age of 4, 7 and 9) had a wonderful time in La Bohalle. The apartment (Tournesol) was extremely charming, clean and well-equipped. In addition, the pool was popular! We enjoyed the kind hospitality of Ms Catherine and her husband and thought e.g. the Sunday "aperitif" to be a very nice way of letting their guests feel welcome. We liked the quietness and the fact that only three families were to share the pool. Also, the surroundings were nice; we recommend e.g. a visit to the Chateau de Brissac. As our children claimed when I told them I was to write this review: Mummy, this was the best vacation ever!". We would definitely like to return some other time. Thank you very much and best regards from Christina Jacobsen and family, HĂžjbjerg (Denmark).
Four friends and I stayed in one of these converted barns about a month ago and had a great time. Catherine and her family were so welcoming. The barn itself was basic and rather alternative, but lovely and cool. It was also great value for money. There's 5 bikes you can use, a great pool, table tennis table and plenty to do. Great location for getting around, but we would have liked to have a bar/ restaurant within walking distance.
