Didn't get to stay because not cleaned
We booked this property 2 1/2 months in advance based on location, amenities, and view. When we arrived at 5:00, an hour after the check-in time, the property had not been cleaned since the last renters. The Hoste rep. initially suggested I was in the wrong unit (even though I was able to get in using my specific code). I was in the correct location, which I also had in writing. The rep ultimately gave me the choice of two alternate properties, neither of which was comparable in location or amenities. We were told we could stay in a hotel the first night and return to our original location the next night, and they'd refund less than a third of the cleaning fee (and the night we couldn't stay). That's it! We were more than 1000 miles from home without a place to stay and stuck paying last-minute charges someplace else that wasn't in our preferred location. Although advance communication from Hoste was prompt, friendly, and competent, when they screwed up and we really needed something, it was less than adequate. It's been four days, and we never heard from someone, no apology or check to see if we even found a decent place to stay. The property itself appeared to be nice, but the property management was poor. Mistakes happen, but it's how they're handled that make the difference. The lack of follow-up, the less than desirable attitude from the rep, and the limited interest in making it right confirmed why I try to avoid booking with a property management company.
