Highly recommended - the property has sea views, is well equipped and clean, and is in such an amazing area. Excellent access to one of the downstairs bedrooms, downstairs shower room, conservatory and outside decking for my Mum who uses a wheel chair. Dom is a lovely and helpful host!
We had a fab stay at Dominiques lovely house! Travelling as a family with young children, the house was so ideal and Porthtowan is such a beautiful location. Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful location, stunning views, light and spacious house making it the perfect place for family holiday. Nothing was too much trouble
We loved every minute
We had a fabulous stay last week at Dominique's lovely beach house with views of the sea.
A great house to suit all with everything we needed to cater for our group.... two families including 4 parents of young adults, teenagers and 3 dogs. The house, conservatory and garden provided plenty of space for all to enjoy.
The house was perfectly located on the coastal path, we enjoyed some fabulous walks, the favourite being to beautiful St Agnes where we stopped for a perfect lunch and a circular walk back through the village.
Porthtowan itself has a fantastic beach for surfing, which we could access on foot from the house via a steepish incline to and from... 10 mins approx... As beginners we were lucky to book a group lesson from Dominique who was a fabulous teacher, fun had by all!
Porthtowan also has a convenient shop, a lovely pub, and a fish and chip shop (click and collect)... the best I've ever tasted.
Also recommend The Victory Inn for a meal, great food within walking distance.
Loved our holiday, it's many yearsâ· since we've holidayed in Cornwall and we can't wait to go back!
Lovely house, clean with large comfy beds, very well equipped kitchen/utility and large dining/living room. Enclosed garden and beautiful conservatory. Five minute walk to the beach and beautify coastal paths. Host at hand if any problems (there weren't any). Great place to stay and would highly recommend.
The property had great character, was large, clean and in a very quiet location. We really enjoyed our stay, especially sitting in the conservatory looking out to the north coast and hearing the sea.
A perfect house for the needs our grown up family - stunning views, & beach & the Blue Bar sooo close !
Plenty of space for us all to unwind & relax , spotlessly clean & mega comfy beds.
We will be back x
+ schönes Haus mit tollem Garten
+ schöner Wintergarten
+ reibungsloser Ablauf beim check-in
+ sehr nette Vermieterin
+ kurzer Weg zur KĂŒste, wunderbar
+ ca. 800m zum Strand
The property is in a great location with 15 minute walk to the beach meaning we could don wetsuits at home and be surfing in no time, with a climb back up the path at the end keeping you warm until you get home again for a warm shower!
The walk does require steady footing and some energy and so is not suitable for older family members. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare in Porthtowan so the answer for us tended to be a drive down to the car park to deposit the âoldsâ, back up to the house and then walk down to the beach, then the same process in reverse to go home again.
If you are a runner there are some wonderful areas to run, you are literally on the South West Coast Path, but be ready for some serious elevation!
House great and spacious with a BBQ area and a charcoal BBQ outside which we made full use of several times.
Comfortably accommodates 8 holiday makers in 4 separate rooms and the downstairs shower room is also a blessing so older family members do not have to get upstairs to use the upstairs bathroom.
The Victory Inn is about a kilometre from the property and has excellent food - highly recommend the moule mariniere (steamed mussels) which uses cider instead of white wine in its sauce. Fantastic creamy sauce - though extremely rich.
Meanwhile, though we found it far too late, I recommend you check out Etheringtons Farm Shop at Wheal Rose, Scorrier, Redruth. Excellent meats, very helpful and we had an excellent roast of pork from there. Also a fantastic selection of Cornish Gin!
The Owner Dominique is meanwhile very friendly and helpful, plus she is also a former UK surfing champion and also teaches surfing - both our sons were stood up by the end of a 1 hour lesson, though I unfortunately canât say the same about myself or my wife though it was still great fun trying!
We certainly hope to return to Porthtowan again and would thoroughly recommend you also give it a try!
We stayed at Dominque's house during the last week of the summer holidays in 2018. We'd missed most of the great weather but we still had a great time. There was 8 of us staying in the house 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 under 10. There was loads of space and especially communal space for us all to sit together and play games and eat and also space for those wanting a mid-afternoon dose in the sun or in the conservatory. Porthtowan is literally on your door step along the path running from the back garden and even (if you fancied a short walk) Chapelporth is a short way along the stunning costal paths. Dominque also arranged surfing for us and so all the kids (and some of the adults) now have the surfing bug. Days out in Newquay, St Ives and Falmouth were in easy driving distance. We had a great time in Dominque's family home and would happily stay again. :-)
The house was ideal for us. We were six adults, toddler and an infant.
The beach is a short walk away down a footpath, From the beach is a footpath which hugs the coast and seems to go on for ever, and features the remnants of an old mine.
Everything was well laid out, including a nice garden with small private areas for a private chat or to read a book.
The kitchen is modern and well equipped. Whatever we wanted to cook, the right equipment was on hand. The beds are comfortable.
The supermarkets in Bodmin and Truro are close by. Truro has a direct train service to London and Newquay airport is not far away. St. Michael's Mount and St. Ives are easy to get to.
Ideal for us.
Highly recommended.
A perfect location for walking and surfing and just doing nothing.
A most pleasurable stay.
The view was also stunning.
