The water starts where the lawn ends. A fireplace, a soaking tub, a fire pit at the shoreline, and the kind of quiet that takes a full day to sink in.
Harrington Hideaway is a waterfront cabin on Saratoga Passage, Whidbey Island. The view sweeps across the water from Camano Island to Mt. Baker and the Cascades. On clear mornings, you can trace the Skagit Valley all the way to the mountain. On foggy ones, the world pulls in close and the shorebirds have the beach to themselves. Guests who've been in both conditions can't agree on which is better.
Two bedrooms. One very good bathroom. A living room designed around the windows, light that comes through them, and the views outside them.
Inside:
King bed, queen bed, sleeper sofa. The bathroom has heated floors, a walk-in shower, and a soaking tub â it's the room guests mention first in reviews. The living room â with its fireplace â is the one they mention second. The kitchen is well-stocked and cute. TV with streaming, WiFi, and a shelf of board games for rainy afternoons.
The interior is considered â clean lines, natural light, a palette that defers to what's outside.
Outside:
Stone patio, Adirondack chairs, a hammock, a grill, and a fire pit right at the water. Low-bank beach access â three steps to the sand and sea. Eagles, herons, and seals are regulars. In spring, grey whales have been spotted from the deck.
Best For:
A couple who wants to disappear for a few days. Two couples who like each other. A family with a kid or two and a dog who needs a beach. The beach and the board games are kid-tested.
Most comfortable for up to four adults.
Inclusive by Design:
Single-level layout. Gently sloped ramp at the front entrance. Generous doorways throughout. Accessible bathroom. Note: the back deck is accessed via steps. We're happy to share details.
The Area:
Coupeville â the historic heart of Penn Cove â is a five-minute drive: world-class mussels, the wharf, and bakeries worth the ferry ride on their own. Fort Ebey (10 min), Fort Casey and Admiralty Head Lighthouse (10 min), and Deception Pass (30 min) are among the best state parks in the Pacific Northwest. The Clinton-Mukilteo ferry is a 20-minute crossing.
Good to Know:
Dogs welcome (up to 2, fee applies).
The Navy's OLF Coupeville is nearby â jets practice carrier landings on some weekdays. When they fly, it's loud and predictable. The Navy doesn't fly weekends or holidays. To find the schedule, search for Current FCLP Window for NAS Whidbey Island Complex.
Driveway parking. The garage is your mudroom â ample room for kayaks, bikes, and beach gear, plus a utility sink and half-bath for when you come back from the beach, salty and sandy. Luxury vinyl floors throughout the cabin mean sand, wet dogs, and muddy kids are no big deal.
