This is our second visit to this wonderful property. We had a wonderful relaxing stay. Just what we needed! Great communication from the owner and great amenities. Will stay there again for sure!
This property is exactly how you see it on VRBO. Very nice, clean and spacious. I agree with a previous review on the lack of shades or curtains if you have a guest sleeping on the futon the sun will wake them up if the aroma of coffee doesn't get to them first.
We hope to enjoy this property again next year!
My husband and I rented this house and we were so pleased. It had every convenience of home. We lacked for nothing. House is secluded enough for privacy but not far from town. Tressie & Mike thank you so much. We would definitely rent again.
Everything was as listed. Unfortunately to no fault of anyone, the heat was not working. The property manager was very responsive and got someone out to fix it right away. Again, unfortunately we woke up to no heat and the property manager promptly moved us to different property and all was well for the rest of the weekend.
The property was good, it âchecked the boxâ & met our needs, but not expectations. It 's the little things that mattered to our group. We were 4 adults. All in our late 40âs & early 50âs in age.
Pros:
-Easy to find.
-Safe.
-Decently appointed kitchen. Met our needs.
-Pretty good internet.
-Loved having coffee on the deck in the early morning
watching golfers tee off.
-Propane provided for grill
-Outdoor space lighting by fire pit & grill.
What would make it better:
-VERY dark @ Night. Could use some motion exterior
lighting. No lights were left on for us.
-They still use physical keys, not too convenient.
-Stale/Hot air upon arrival. It was very stinky the whole
weekend.
-Bird Nests in the front porch
-Burned out lightbulbs in chandelier of front porch
-Livingroom Couches were VERY used, & your knees
will be above your hips as you sink when you sit down.
They also sag toward the middle.
-Beds are not very comfortable.
-Uneven & crumbling portions of the driveway.
-There is a trunk on the front porch that you CANNOT SEE & it will get your chins badly if you show up after dark!
-No Ceiling Fan in the Bunk Bed room.
-Cobb Webs here & there in the living room and both bedrooms.
As a Short Term Rental owner myself, I know things happen..It is just life, but it's the little things that make a difference, & if I didn't manage it myself, I would be having a serious convo with the property manager/or company.
All in all I would give 3 out of 5. it worked for us!
Our stay was certainly an interesting one. Upon arrival we detected the aroma of a skunk. Luckily when we went inside, that smell didn't persist. It was a clean, well-kept cozy cottage that we were excited to have for a few days.
But we didn't.
Turns out the septic system was obstructed or backing up. This could have been the smell, but much more impactful was that toilets were not flushing and overflowed our first morning there. A hole in the side yard would fill with pungent smelling sewer water.
After contacting the manager, Tressia, she was very responsive and found another property for us to stay at for the balance of our trip. It turns out that property was a greater cost, but we were not on the hook for the difference - which was a classy move we really appreciated!
Other comments on the property - we wanted to use the fire pit, but there was no cut firewood available. There were many felled trees that could have been turned into firewood, but sat on the ground as large as they were when they were living trees. The kitchen was terrific - well stocked, clean, easy to find what we were looking for - but the crock pot did not work. There is no a/c, but the attic fan does a nice job of evacuating hot air and creating some air movement - but it's LOUD.
Overall, this could have been a terrible trip, but Tressia's responsiveness earns a lot of extra credit! Thanks!
Place was very nice. Quiet. Plenty if space. Air conditioner didn't seem to be working but we were gone all day and after opening windows in the evening, it cooled off pretty quick. Only text with manager but she didn't seem too friendly. Hard to tell on a texting app. My son cut his foot on a nail sticking out of the floor. Manager didn't even apologize. She did come over and pull out the nail though. Coffee maker had mold growing inside where filter and used coffee had not been thrown out, which meant it wasn't cleaned. So we bought a coffee machine. Trying to figure out what light switch worked for what light was definitely a challenge. The 2 bedrooms didn't have much lighting at all. The pools in pic are part of a huge resort. It was so packed we couldn't even find a place to sit. So we tried the indoor pool... it was packed and water was cold. Hot tub had about a dozen men in it so we didn't get to use that either. But the place is mostly clean, quiet, quaint cabin for small family.
Overall it a very nice and very clean house..1 thing that needs addressed is a carpet fray that tack strip is exposed. Stepped on it in bare feet. Overall, very happy with our stay. Thanks so much
This house was a great place for our short weekend at Shanty Creek. Had a wedding at the hotel and this was a very short drive (or 10 minute walk) which was super nice.
Comfortable accommodations.
House is very clean and open. Plenty of linens and dishes. View of sunrise and golf course were great. Plenty of games-parts missing but ...TV worked great but we are not app TV people so finding what we like/use to a bit difficult. Cable for us. I liked it!
Exactly as shown--nice place and perfect location!
This was the perfect place for us as we attended a wedding right at the Shanty Creek resort and needed 2 rooms now that we have adult (17-24) aged sons! The only thing I would note: is that we really needed A/C given it was 90 the entire weekend.
