Incredible Visit

Great host, great place, great experience. We are avid travelers and have used many different solutions for housing. Some good and others not. This rental was the very thing we hoped it to be. The pictures don’t necessarily capture how good the property is. It is spacious and comfortable. The host was also very helpful with a couple of special requests that we had.

Our second stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second time staying in this unit. The last time was five years ago. We were happy to see that it has had some upgrades since our last visit, even though we were happy enough to come back anyway. New flooring and a new hide-a-bed couch improved the looks of the place.The area is very nice with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. It isn't "on" the beach, but the beach is a short walk through a vacant lot to the beach. This is our 4th stay on Kauai and Kappa'a is our favorite area to stay.

Great apartment, Not Great Beach

The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with all the essentials and plenty of thoughtful extras. It was perfect. The only thing we didn’t like was the beach. The view from the apartment is of burned out cars in a meadow and a homeless encampment on the beach. The one day I went to the beach to hangout, I witnessed multiple drug deals and a homeless persons dog attacking a family trying to swim. I wound up leaving the beach because I felt unsafe. It’s a great location if you are ok driving to other beaches and places to hangout, though.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent three weeks in this condo and would honestly recommend it to others. The unit was clean with a very comfortable bed? (so important!). The grounds and pool area were immaculate and staff so friendly. The location was fantastic and we felt very fortunate to discover this after a few days, as you never really know until there. If there is anything to improve the only thing is the bbq's were not functional and the kitchen could have used a casserole dish. We loved Kauai and this is the place to stay!

That being said Its not a five star accommodation in the usual regard as Hawaii condo properties tend to be a little dated and underwhelming compared to a 5 star hotel in Vegas (for instance). With this in mind, this place was everything we expected it to be and more. Nice touches like a cooler and beach chairs added to our stay. There is a fence between you and the beach but you can hear the ocean waves from the bedroom and its a quick walk to the water (not a swimming beach in the winter). Everything was smooth and easy. Property staff were helpful and nice. The unit was clean, as pictured and had zero bugs. This was a great spot to explore the island from.

Excellent Location/Excellent Condo Layout

This was a fine place to stay. The Condo unit was clean, very well equipped, and had an excellent lani overlooking the field and then on to the ocean/beach. The view was a quiet one looking out. The pools were smallish and only one of the two hot tubs were working. Some handy reference books on Hawaii and Kauai were available for our preview. We bought and left a wicker book basket (one was already there) but we added more books to the selection for future vacationers. The scrabble game actually had all 100 tiles present! We added a deck of cards to the unit. To be picky, the TV was on the small side (but are we there to watch TV?:). The beach towels could have been a larger size ... but all this is pretty picky as the unit was overall excellent. Unfortunately I had an ear infection on our last day (ER visit) and we worked to leave the unit proper ... but were rushed due to our need to get medical advice, prescriptions, and treatment before flying out. I wouldn't mind an 11am checkout rather than the 10am one. Definitely would like to return to this unit if/when we revisit Kauai (costs are skyrocketing!).

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: j16 close to beach ,restaurants , cvs food land and Safeway , all walkable.the suites location allows view of ocean and enjoyment of the ocean breeze if you can overlook the ghetto wall. The suite also fronts a street that is quite a drag strip ...noisy and smelly .The toilet is uncleanable , cleaned it over 15 times and ended up spraying with Clorox bleach after EVERY use. Sofa is shot ..had to move chair from bed room or else you sat on the bars coming through . Unit may be suitable for 5 to6 days but at present not good for longer periods as there is no cupboard space.The island is beautiful but the above took a lot of the glow off the vacation . Been coming to the islands since 1973 and I don't consider myself a complainer but when you lay out 11 k Canadian for 6 weeks you expect a certain level of accommodation and its just not here.

Bucket List Trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit was clean and nicely equipped and furnished. Really nice that this was an end unit. The entire property had 3 separate pools and was disappointed to see 1 of the 2 hot tubs 'out of service' and the 2nd one might as well have been as the whirlpool switch was very finicky and did not work half the time. Property management insisted that the second hot tub was working, which was not correct. We were right across the street next to a field that had to be crossed to get to the beach/ocean and once you got there, the beach was not swimmable as the water was very rough and the beach rocky. The field was very much in need of a cleanup (trash) as well. We found that locals would drive their cars/trucks to the edge of the beach for easy access for fishing. Besides being on the east side of the island not having sunsets available, the location was great, centrally located on the east side, with easy access to the south end and north end. Easy access to Kappa was a plus as well and 10 minutes from the airport. The bed and living furniture's were very comfortable and quiet. A couple more luggage stands would have been beneficial. Unit also came with a couple beach chairs which was a huge plus for when we did go the calmer beaches close by (a short drive). We cooked out one night at the pool and the grill was lovely, clean and in great working order. Walking access to the Coconut Market was also great. Careful with those heavy suitcases as there are no elevators and there was no ice maker in the unit’s refrigerator, so we found ourselves constantly making ice by filling ice trays. Parking was very convenient, but the use of a community laundry room was not ideal. Overall, I gave it a ‘4’ rating from a comfort, location, and cleanliness standpoint.

Ocean conditions can be unpredictable and for that reason, we recommend life guarded beaches. The beach across the street is great for viewing sunrises and enjoying walks along the coast. Lydgate Beach is just a mile down the road and is a great spot for swimming, snorkeling, picnics and more! The field across of Plantation Hale is private property and has recently been mowed and cleared and blocked from vehicular traffic. A water and ice dispenser is located near the front desk. Worth The Money and I Would Stay Again

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Such a fun little place to stay. My family of three stayed here for ten days. We really enjoyed where it was located. It is near a small market store and many good restaurants and grocery stores. It is also close to a nice small shopping district. The complex has three pools and two hot tubs which all the units share so most of the time we had a whole pool and hot tub to ourself. The actual unit itself is a bit dated with older amenities and kitchen supplies. The bathroom shower was the only thing that kind of bugged me because the shower floor would flex under your weight (I weigh 100lbs). Otherwise the bed was comfortable and they provided towels, beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, and other fun things to borrow. It being a end unit made it very easy to access with parking as well as trash and recycling disposal close by. We would definitely stay here again. Kauai is my favorite Island because it’s fairly quiet especially in summer and this little rental made it feel like home.

Nice Apartment, OK Complex Management, Bad Beach

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really liked the set up and furnishings of the apartment. It was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. We didn’t love that the company who ran the complex wasn’t particularly pleasant or helpful to us because we “had rented from a third party.” Even though we booked through HomeAway, we were still guests of the complex and would have appreciated being treated like any other guests. The beach in front of the complex was pretty terrible. It was full of homeless camps and drug dealing. The one time I tried to sit on the beach, I was scared away by blatant drug dealing and using right next to me and seeing one of the users dogs attack a family trying to swim. We still enjoyed our trip, but avoided our local beach.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay in J16. The ductless air conditioner was really nice, it's so quiet. The room could use a little brighter light bulbs or more lights as it's hard to read in it at night. Overall we really liked the room and its location.

Hawaii Vacation

I will miss hearing the ocean, seeing the sun rise and the listening to the roosters in the morning.
