The Lightning Lodge is a well-appointed remodeled true log home
with rustic modern design aesthetic. This unique character home features custom woodworking, including knotty pine, oak, and live edge details. The dedicated spacious paved driveway can accommodate parking for 4 (including a truck and trailer), is located on a well-maintained road, and is walking distance to eateries, shopping, playground, hiking, etc. and a short drive to mountain communities and attractions.

Note: Since the September Line Fire, all mountain conditions have returned to normal. Be aware, SR-330 will remain closed in 2024 for repairs from Highland to Running Springs; use CA-18 as the alternate route. The grill and fire pit were temporarily disconnected during peak fire season, but those amenities are again available for fall/winter guests. Winter guests, be prepared for winter road conditions when CalTrans will enact chain control restrictions for ice and snow. All travelers may be required to have tire chains (or snow tires) to access the mountains.

Amazing Mountain stay

From the check in and arrival to the vacation time spent onsite and even the check out process, it couldn't have gone better. The place is so well thought out. The kids loved the hot chocolate, the adults loved the baby gate at the top of the stairs. The place is so clean and comfortable. The hosts offered dining recommendations upon request, in a jiffy. We enjoyed Snow Valley, Santa's Village, and more all in our stay at this amazing spot.

Winter Getaway

The property is very nicely decorated & comfortable with a close drive to both Big Bear & Arrowhead. The kitchen was easy to cook in as we ate most meals at home - be sure to bring your own measuring spoons/cups. We used the jacuzzi daily during our 4 day visit which was great but you may want to bring extra towels as there is only one towel provided per guest with no access to a washer & dryer. The host called us when we arrived to inform us that we were an hour early & hadn’t properly registered our dogs as she had seen on the house cameras. We got back in our cars and went across the street for lunch while we did the needed dog paperwork/ payment & to wait for the appropriate check in time. It definitely brought the vacation excitement level down & put us on edge for the rest of our trip.

The Lightning Lodge is Above and Beyond in Every Way!

Our stay at The Lightning Lodge was pure magic! Seamless check-in, responsive hosts, and thoughtful pre-arrival planning ensured a stress-free experience. The cabin, perfect for four adults and two pups, exceeded expectations with its hip, yet charming decor and well-equipped kitchen. There's plenty to do at the cabin with a hot tub, multiple 4K TVs (with streaming and cable), games and a turntable. There's even an acoustic guitar for fireplace singalongs! Come bedtime, the high-quality mattress and linens contributed to some of the best sleep we've ever had, leaving us refreshed and ready to explore Running Springs each morning. What truly set Lightning Lodge apart was the hosts' outstanding dining and activity recommendations. From the initial planning phase and even during our stay, every suggestion felt tailor-made for our group. We were blown away by the abundance of things to do and eagerly anticipate returning. In conclusion, Lightning Lodge exceeded expectations, blending thoughtful design, local charm, and warm hospitality seamlessly. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a family retreat, it's an unbelievable gem deserving of more than five stars. We're already planning our next escape to this incredible mountain haven!

Owners Ben and Miranda here...we moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles in 2012 chasing a crazy dream of opening our own business. The past decade of owning a retail establishment took us to boutique hotels across the country, and we imagined how we could apply our love for creating special customer experiences and well-designed spaces to vacation retreats. The Lightning Lodge is the culmination of years of research and development, imagination, and the desire to create a peaceful and inspiring space for something we all get too little of--relaxation! This log home was thoughtfully and lovingly updated by family with the intention of creating a special place for friends and family to gather and make memories through the years. Because we spend lots of time here, ourselves, we wanted to include some of our favorite art and creature comforts. We've loved visiting the San Bernardino Mountains and find it an ideal place to connect with nature and appreciate the wild, diverse, and stunningly beautiful southern California geography, and we look forward to sharing our happy place with you! The Lightning Lodge is managed by family who lovingly restored this home. Tamara and Onur have over 15 yrs experience managing short and long-term rentals across various platforms.

We're city dwellers who enjoy dabbling at mountain living, so choosing a location that's peaceful and natural but also close to coffee, food, and activities is very important to us! The Lightning Lodge is the perfect balance of mountain getaway without being too remote. Located on a quiet paved street that's well maintained (one of the 1st to get plowed in the winter), the home is walking distance to dining, shopping, groceries, a playground and park, seasonal farmer's market, and hiking trails. We also enjoy the friendly and diverse, laid-back Running Springs community, thriving small business district, and casual mountain charm where everyone feels welcome.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Real log homes are uncommon, especially in California. We were immediately intrigued by this home the first time we walked inside. It's full of old-world character details like custom woodworking, genuine knotty pine cabinetry and built ins, and cedar lined closets. Brick masonry fireplace and accent walls made from local materials have fossils we left exposed when whitewashing the brick by hand. While we love the rustic charm and had no intention of tearing out beautiful materials, it was a special challenge to blend our own taste for modern and midcentury design with a traditional log home. In addition to aesthetics, we wanted a functional and practical interior that feels like a comfortable home where you make memories with family and friends versus a generic vacation rental. That's why you'll find comfortable furniture, soft pillows, cozy throws, great lighting, artwork from some of our favorite local artists and friends, etc. Essentially, we made the vacation rental we never found for ourselves!
