Legend has it that the 1924 cabin was built as a hide out for a bootlegger by the name Worthington Squint. This scoundral allegedly ran liquor during prohibition suppling many locals, restaurants, clubs and visitors with the illegal hard stuff. Many Hollywood stars would visit Lake Arrowhead in the day. Some even claim that Jack Benny would drive up to vacation in Lake Arrowhead, party at the lake and then fill his "second gas tank" with the high-quality "white Lightening".

Today, refurbished in 2021, this cozy private cabin sits on the remote exclusive South-East side of Lake Arrowhead, ready to receive guests for the next 100 years. With the property being "off-the-grid", a guest is well rewarded with ultimate privacy and seclusion. Behind the stone wall, 1000 sf of gated deck space was added for outdoor entertaining and enjoyment of the year round hot tub spa, BBQ, and fire pit. From the upper deck, you will see one of the best views of the lake and sunsets. Not to mention the beautiful changing of color in the maple trees in fall.

The architect owner included many design details such as a rustic tin ceiling, farm sink and modern industrial light fixtues. It is decorated with local mountain art, photographs and antiques. Daydream from the copper claw foot tub as you enjoy the view of the lake or canopy of trees through the large skylight above. Perfect for a romantic get-away.

In the warmer months, there is also a private outdoor cedar shower to enjoy. Snuggle up by the original stone fireplace and oak tree trunk mantle, originally cut on the property when the cabin was built. A family and their furry friend, wishing to relax and get away from it all, would feel right at home. Pet friendly.

Treehouse in the tress

Lovely little home nestled in the mountain treetops. Area was quiet and peaceful with breathtaking views. Would definitely go back again. The owner was also responsive and helpful.

Beautiful tree house escape

We had a wonderful time nestled in the trees. The deck has gorgeous views of the greenery. The spa worked wonderfully and we used it several times. We'll be sure to come visit again.

The Perfect Getaway

We had the perfect getaway. The cabin is equally beautiful and comfy/cozy. We had everything we needed and then some. Our host was easy and wonderful to work with. We absolutely stay at Bootleggers Run again!

Family Fall Vacation

Great cabin up in the mountains. Serene and secluded, yet equipped with modern amenities. The deck offers astounding views of Lake Arrowhead. The hot tub further enhances the already amazing deck experience. My family had an awesome fall getaway. We hope to revisit and explore other seasons at The Bootlegger's Run.

Romantic cabin wedding weekend!

We stayed at Bootlegger’s Run the weekend of our wedding in Lake Arrowhead and enjoyed the beautiful cabin and hot tub. The cabin is so cozy. Our host was very responsive and helpful with a few questions. We would definitely come back!

“Bootleggers Run” Ticks All The Boxes

My wife and I needed a retreat to relax and get away from the city. I wanted a secluded mountain cabin with a beautiful view, nicely appointed with all the amenities. I found it at the “Bootleggers Run” in Sky Forest. The view overlooking the lake is spectacular. Loved to soak in the hot tub from the secluded deck as well as enjoy a second spacious deck with gas fire pit and sitting area and large table for eight. All of this and more! Inside, a cozy thoughtfully decorated mountain home. If space allowed I would talk about giant indoor copper bathtub, a second jetted tub in the master, and private outdoor shower. Well done Tim. Thanks for opening your home. To all considering this place. My advice. Don’t delay. If available, book it now!

Peaceful and relaxing

The property was peaceful and relaxing. It was in a quiet area with access to everything we could need but far enough away that it wasn't a bother. The property itself was beautiful and surprisingly spacious. The owner was super attentive and did a good job of making the stay as pleasant as possible. He was also very good about recommending nice places in the area for entertainment and unwinding. We would highly recommend this vacation stay to anyone looking to get away from it all for a recharging escape. Thank you, Tim!

Magical Forest Getaway🌲

Wow! What an incredible experience it was to stay at Bootlegger’s Run for a few nights. The cabin is even better than the photos and exactly how I wanted to celebrate my birthday. I wished we would’ve stayed longer than 3 nights. It was the perfect getaway from the busy hustle and bustle of city life. It even snowed on the first night of our stay and we woke up to a winter wonderland outside. We were blown away by how well kept, clean, and organized the cabin was. It was stylish and cozy - yet spacious! All of tubs were absolutely divine and I felt like I was in another world relaxing in the hot tub at night. Tim was a great host and he has a lovely gem of a home with its history proudly displayed. We’ll be back soon ❤️

Cozy and Private Cabin

Four adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this homey and cozy cabin. Magnificent stone fireplace (gas) was warming and made our evenings so nice. Cabin is well-appointed and with an open design. Private feel, no neighbors next door. We took nice walks in the neighborhood, and thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. Things to note: there are stairs down to cabin and to downstairs bedrooms. Final stretch of road to cabin is dirt and could be difficult in rain or snow. We had no problems, but could be challenging in difficult weather.

Favorite cabin so far!

Beautiful and clean cabin. Location and views are great. Timothy is very nice and communicative. It was great to be able to stay in contact. Overall 10/10. Will be coming again.

Cool Cabin

What a fun cabin to relax at and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Arrowhead with beautiful views of the Lake as well. Loved the attention to detail in and outside the cabin. Absolutely loved the outdoor shower. Beautiful spa, super cozy and homey. Well stocked in every way. Very clean as well. Had a little trouble with figuring out the spa, lighting the stove and fire pit. Owner was quick to help us out tho! Would definitely come back again! Thank you ☺️

Peaceful getaway

I can't say enough about this place. The view is amazing, You immediately feel at home when you arrive. Every inch of the cabin has been thoughtfully and beautifully renovated. Tim is clearly a talented architect and interior designer! We will definitely be back in the future!

Rejuvenation

Bootlegger’s Run was such a welcome retreat for us! We went there for a Mother-Daughter getaway and it was everything we were hoping for. The views are stunning and the house provided everything we needed to have a few days of leisurely conversations, relaxing hot tub time, and delicious meals. The cozy table area was wonderful for meals and board game playing. This listing lives up to expectations and provides a setting of beauty and comfort for a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway! Perfect Vacation House

It was a wonderful vacation. The house has everything we need for the staying. We didn’t need to go out. We could see the lake from patios., even from bathtub in the house. It’s beautiful views. We could enjoy very quiet and private vacation. We want to try winter season next time.

Beautiful cabin. Peaceful, relaxing, gorgeous view

This cabin is wonderful! Ohotos don’t do it justice. We had a fabulous time! Relaxing, comfortable, clean, exactly as described! Oirb4th of July was awesome! Watched fireworks from the deck. This cozy escape gives you the feeling of pure tranquility. After our stay I was reneeed and ready to face life again. This was the first Independence Day without my mom (she passed away in Dec of 2021) I was able to relax and unwind while connecting with my sons. We saw bear and mountain lion footprints on paths near the cabin. We all had a fabulous time!

Beautiful Peaceful Place on Earth

This is a lovely setting to soak in natural beauty. The decks are amazing and appointed for outdoor enjoyment. Just 5 minutes to Lake Arrowhead Village. Quiet peaceful and relaxing.

Weekend Retreat

My wife and I brought our terrier up to the mountains for a quiet birthday weekend retreat. We absolutely loved the Bootlegger's Run from the second we reached the front entrance. The house is cozy and very well stocked with all the amenities, but the part we liked the most was the two patio areas. The upstairs patio has a great view of the lake and surrounding forest and it is very secluded. The down stairs patio has an amazing hot tub and the outdoor bed was the hit of the weekend.

Cozy and relaxing

Can't recommend this place enough! The place is even more beautiful than in the photos. Very cozy, great design and comfort. You will have EVERYTHING you need! The spa is great! Try and use it at night with no lights to see the moon and the stars, awesome experience. The host Tim is great, he answers quickly and solves issues very fast, no ifs no buts. Don't overthink it and book it!

Beautiful Property

Thank you for a nice President's Day weekend at Bootlegger's Run. The winter sunshine with snow on the ground was a beautiful backdrop for an extended weekend with my daughter's family, including their young children and dog. We enjoyed the living room fireplace and the outdoor spa and firepit on the deck. The home was recently remodeled and beautifully decorated. The 'off-the-grid' description is correct, so pay attention to details on access, parking, and navigating steps into the property. The quiet serenity of the neighborhood was very enjoyable!

Best cabin I've ever stayed at!

My family/friends and I take annual trips to lake destinations and this was our favorite stay ever! Bootleggers was spotless clean and had so many amenities. I appreciated the safety gate for the stairs and blocks for my 2 year old to play with. The hot tub was amazing and the grill, fireplace, and firepit were all easy to use and a treat to have. The view is stunning and the privacy was absolute. The driveway was a bit of a walk due to the snow, but Tim gave me a heads up so we were prepared. Speaking of which, his level of communication before and during the trip was quick and very helpful. Can't wait to stay here again next year!

Amazing Stay!

This property is so beautiful with a great view of the lake and but yet hidden in the trees. The interior is super homey and cozy my family and I felt so comfortable staying here. It was such a good experience and brought us all closer together with all the family friendly areas. We spent most of our time on the porch having good conversation and in the kitchen enjoying everyone’s company. The design in the cabin is beautiful with great fixtures and decor, we were so in love with the interior it combines the rustic cabin concept with a modern style. Tim the owner was in constant communication with me making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay the best experience. Every year we rent a place to spend our vacations but I never found a place where we wanted go back and this cabin is the exception because from now on this is our place to stay at the mountains because it has everything! It’s so much better than what we expected and we have great memories! Thank you Tim for the great service!

Bruno my french bulldog oversees the grounds, ensuring that no squirrels or racoons step foot on the deck.
