Morning sun, sunrise water view, calm waters, outdoor water activities offering paddle boards & kayaks, two decks and the house provides afternoon shade, dock living, private bedrooms with ensuite, fully equipped kitchen, cozy family room and much more! Community playground and Sound-front beach. We also have 2 kayaks and two paddleboards to use off the dock.
This was our first fishing trip to OBX, so having the right house was key. We were not disappointed; the property came as advertised. Location is great in a quiet neighborhood, but close enough to the restaurants.
Can't say enough good things about Steve and his property! The place was clean and homey with everything you could possibly need inside and out! Steve was very accommodating and communitive with prompt response times. Neighborhood was quiet and we really enjoyed the beautiful view on the back deck of the water, paddleboarding, and kayaking. We took full advantage of the dock! Cannot recommend this place enough. This has to be one of my favorite places that I have ever stayed. If you are looking to book a trip to the Outer Banks area, give this property a go, you won't regret it!
Overall, a fun place to stay! Beds were comfy and canalfront great for fishing/swimming/kayaking. We liked having access to neighborhood pool and bay area swimming beachfront. Great kitchen supplies, lots of games/puzzles and quite a few beach supplies like beach chairs, pool noodles, sand toys, etc. available for use (we could have left some of our items at home if we'd known). Please know that this property doesn't provide bed sheets, bath towels or starter supplies (we were informed a few days prior to leaving so had to quickly add these items to minivan). Owner says they will update VRBO posting so this is clear. Sharing this info now in spirit of helpfulness in case anyone is traveling soon to this property and is online double checking property amenities and reads this review.
My wife and I are from Virginia and we have been vacationing in the outer Banks since the 1980's. We love spending time in the Outer Banks and enjoy the beach, touring the hiking paths and kayaking. Our daughter lives in Colington Harbor near the community center as well so we can enjoy visits while at the beach.
Colington Harbor is a quiet community with mostly local residents. The Community has a water access/beach to the sound, located right of Colington Drive. We are about 4 miles from the Kill Devil Hills public beach access which has showers and bathrooms and ample parking between two lots.
Our home sits with the dock and deck (rear of the house) facing the water and the sunrise. Making the deck nice and shady in the late afternoon and evening. The canal is great for swimming or floating on a tube. We have 2 kayaks and 2 paddleboards available to explore the community on the canals.
