We welcome you to a memorable getaway at The Woodland Chalet! This home away from home has been thoughtfully re-designed for the ultimate guest experience while maintaining her storybook charm. Situated on nearly two wooded acres, you will enjoy the uncommon quiet of the Hills on the full-length private deck, patio w/gas fire pit, and brand new 6-person hot tub. This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home sleeps 8 guests and is the perfect basecamp to explore the Black Hills or simply enjoy the birds, deer and turkey from the privacy of the deck. Whatever your adventure, The Woodland Chalet provides all the conveniences of home while delivering a warm, restful retreat.

The Space

The Woodland Chalet features a lofted cathedral ceiling in the main living/dining area with direct access to the outdoor entertaining area. Four sleeping areas, three bedrooms and sleeper sofa, accommodate up to eight people. The main level hosts the spacious primary suite with a modern en-suite full bath, and additional ½ bath for guests. Upstairs you will find two additional bedrooms and a modern full bath off the loft area. There is a dedicated workspace in the flex room that can be used for additional dining or game night.

Location

Ideal location just 15 minutes from downtown Rapid City, all on paved roads. 20 minutes to Ellsworth, 25 minutes to Sturgis, 50 minutes to Terry Peak, 40 minutes to Deadwood, 45 minutes to Mt. Rushmore, 75 minutes to Hot Springs, one hour to the Badlands, 45 minutes to Spearfish and one hour to Hill City. *If we expect snow during your stay, please check with the host on road conditions.

Forest Service Access

Walking distance (.5 mile) to Forest Service access and 100s of unrestricted acres to explore. Motorized trails minutes away. FS Rd 126 approach off Peaceful Pines Rd. FS Rd 777 at the back of the neighborhood - connects to Rolling Hills Rd and Nemo Rd, or Iceman Trail 8282 connecting to hundreds of miles of FS system. If I could give this home 6 stars, I would! It is exactly as shown in the photos: beautiful, peaceful, clean and relaxing. Our family loved the location. There are wild turkeys, deer and bunnies constantly crossing the yard to the delight of my children. We enjoyed the hot tub and taking walks in the neighborhood. Everything in the home was clean and comfortable. It is obvious that Taryn takes great pride in this home as she is very responsive and has designed the home with care. We look forward to returning and will recommend this home to friends and family traveling to the Black Hills!

Great!

This was the second time that our family stayed in this house, and it was wonderful again! The house is spacious, very comfortable and perfect for all ages. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, wildlife outside and the hot tub. We love that it’s just a short drive to Rapid City, and we hope to come back again!

The property is in a beautiful pine-wooded area away from the main roads. We enjoyed its convenience to Rapid City and points of interest in the Black Hills area. Watching the deer and turkeys that came by the back of the property was a plus, too.

Woodland Chalet

The house was clean and comfortable , and fully stocked with everything we needed. It is located in a very convenient area to all the National parks including, Badlands,wind caves,jewel caves, Custard State park, Crazy Horse,Mount Rushmore and so many other great attractions.

Group stayed for Sturgis Bike Rally

We absolutely loved the Woodland Chalet. The location was close to Rapid City but you were far enough to have a ton of wildlife. The checkout process was super simple and Taryn was fantastic to communicate with. My only suggestion would be to have a recliner or two for more seating after a long day of riding. Other than that, we would absolutely stay again!!

We really enjoyed staying here with our 2 kids and other family. Plenty of kitchen/cooking space. Hot tub is wonderful! Comfortable sleeping arrangements. Good bathrooms.

Peaceful and relaxing stay

We had a wonderful stay - the backyard and deck are were amazing! We enjoyed many meals and evenings on the deck. We got to see wildlife right in the backyard every day! Very quiet, peaceful location. The spacious kitchen had everything we needed to make homemade meals throughout our stay. We loved it!

Variety get away

Property was great! We went to enjoy a variety of activities: ATV’ing (had access to National forest just down the road)”, hiking and sightseeing. Was able to enjoy all from property. Manager was so responsive with any question and very clear with responses. Hot tub was high quality and great way to relax at end of day. Enjoyed outdoor deck for coffee and for evening meal. Wild life every morning and evening to view and enjoy.

A great week in Black Hawk, thanks to the Woodland Chalet!

Where to start...The house was amazing. We are a group of 4 adults seniors who have travelled all over the country together in our classic cars. This was far and away the nicest, cleanest, most accommodating house we have ever rented (and we have rented quite a few!). Everything worked! Ok, one bulb in a nightstand lamp was going out, but the owners had spare bulbs at the house! The furniture was comfortable and plenty of seating for the 4 of us. It even had a very spacious 2 car garage with another refrigerator in it! Plenty of cups, plates, silverware, pots, pans and such. Dishwasher, washer, dryer everything works! Wildlife every day, deer, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, tons of birds. The beds were all very comfortable, the AC worked great, the ceiling fans in the bedrooms were great! Tarin and Travis were the hosts and you could not ask for better people to have as hosts. They make sure all your needs are met from day one, they respond to your questions very quickly and are a fun and gracious young couple with a couple of cute kids too! They live in the general area. It is in a great location too. A quiet property with neighbors, but nobody right on top of you. Wooded, natural and so relaxing. It is also a great place to use as a hub to go out and visit all the national and state parks in the area, Rushmore, Crazy House, Deadwood, Leed, Walls Drugs and other places. All 4 of us were more than happy with the Chalet, you will be too!

Amazing!

I stayed at the Woodland Chalet for 7 days and I literally cannot say one negative thing about my expierwnce at this house. I’ve stayed at many air b&b’s / vrbo’s and this is by far one of my favorite ones. Every day we saw wildlife in the backyard (turkeys, deer). It was very kid friendly as my 8 & 5 year old niece and nephew came along for the vacation. It was also in a central location. I would most definitely come and stay here again! Don’t hesitate!

Great stay!

Absolutely wonderful stay. We wish we didnt have to leave. Everyday we saw turkeys, deer and rabbits. The house is as exactly as pictured, very warm and welcoming. Beds were comfortable (this is always a big deal for us). Taryn was proactive by emailing me to make sure all of our needs were met. In all the years we've stayed in VRBOs we've only had a handful that have done that. It is very much appreciated! In our 5 day stay we visited Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Deadwood, Devils Tower and much more. Its centrally located to all of the areas. Look no further, you found the perfect house!

Amazing place to stay!

Everything was wonderful with this place from location to amenities! Our family enjoyed this property so much! Great yard to play ball, the kitchen was amazing, great area to play board games at night and we could relax in the hot tub! Very clean and host were amazing and answered any questions we had immediately! We hope to make another trip back!

Family vacation to the Black Hills

This was such a great place for our vacation with our adult children. The location was perfect for traveling around the area. The yard was somewhat private with deer and turkeys wandering through, but we were only a short drive to groceries. We spent lots of time on the large deck. The large, well equipped kitchen and outdoor grill made cooking easy. If we ever vacation in the area again, I would want to stay here.

Clean, Neat, Rustic

We really enjoyed everything about this place. Felt like we were in the country but had quick access to Rapid City. It was a cozy place to be on a wintry post-Christmas vacation and play games by the fire--I have always enjoyed fireplaces and we made good use of this one. (wouldn't recommend you try it if you don't know what you're doing). Also appreciated that there wasn't a list of 57 things to do upon leaving. Would recommend it and stay there again!

We had such a great time here. The property is beautiful, and there was lots of wildlife. The house is very comfortable with plenty of space. Checkout was easy with a minimal list of things to do before leaving. We would absolutely stay here again!

Quiet Neighborhood with lots of wildlife

We had a great time staying at the Woodland Chalet. It was very clean, well equipped, easy to locate, and very restful. Taryn is a great host who answers question quickly and efficiently. She went beyond what would be expected when we forgot an item and she happily mailed to back to us. We would definitely stay there again.

Amazing experience

The property was beautiful and well maintained, the inside was very clean, welcoming and kid friendly! Our toddler loved watching the wildlife out the big windows and running through the yard. They provided everything we needed! It was a great experience!

Mountain retreat

We came for a family wedding. The space was everything we needed fascinating layout, but it entertained us greatly, fantastic outdoor areas thoughtfully laid out with comfortable seating and umbrellas, watching the deer walk to the backyard, and turkeys was fantastic. One even ate an apple out of our daughters hand.
