We had a fantastic week with four adults. The lay-out allows for people to both get together and do their own thing. The kitchen is well equipped. And the art is a lot of fun. The location is outstanding with a quiet, leafy walk into Vineyard Haven (15 minutes) and a little private beach at the end of the lane. We rented bikes and had a blast.
This was my husband's & I first trip together to Martha's Vineyard. Bob was superb in his responsiveness to all questions we had, & he is a very pleasant individual to deal with! We enjoyed the pleasant "whimsy" of the cottage in terms of the various bright colors & fun decor. I loved the porch strung with lights. We enjoyed having our morning cup of coffee there. We loved the frequent butterflies and perky squirrels that frequented the property. We appreciated the cottage being located in Vineyard haven area, which suits my husband and I very well. (we enjoyed the quieter town center, some nice restaurants and gallery/shops too.) The cottage is situated on a quiet street, and a plus is that it takes just a brief stroll down the lane to see the shoreline. We enjoyed walks on the attached streets, and enjoyed the nearby trail through the woods, accessible from the main street, just 5 minutes or so from the cottage. A short drive or walk to West Chop led to a beautiful community overlook where we caught some amazing sunsets!
Okay, now for a bit of constructive feedback - we would highly recommend the owner place either shades, blinds or window treatments in the living room (the room pictured in the photo that has the wall to wall windows) in order to provide privacy in the evening. Anyone driving or walking by could see right in. The cottage did smell a bit "musty" when we arrived. One of the floor lights in the smaller bedroom had a broken outlet plug (one end was stuck in the socket, so you could not replace or use another lamp close to the bed.) The walls in the smaller bedroom and bathroom had various dirt marks - not sure if they could simply be scrubbed clean... or preferably, a fresh coat of paint in those rooms would be amazing. I think a set of vanity lights above the bathroom mirror would be helpful to women. The lighting was not the best in the bathroom. Additional mirror lighting would be helpful for women in terms of applying makeup. Towels could be refreshed by simply buying a new set. (towels seemed somewhat old and worn. extra hand towels and wash cloths would have been nice. ) I don't like to leave negative comments... but in this case, I truly wanted to share some things that would not be too costly, but could be helpful. The cottage really is a very adorable place, and with a few improvements, it could definitely be top notch. Overall, we had a wonderful time, and enjoyed our stay. THANK YOU!
My husband and daughter and I enjoyed staying at this cottage. It's a bit dated but we enjoyed the atmosphere and coziness. Wish there had been a full length mirror somewhere and a blender in the kitchen. No dishwasher or washer and dryer but we managed!
Nice property close to town and the ferry. Very quiet neighborhood. Small private beach at end of road. Shops and good restaurants nearby. French doors open to a nice covered outdoor seating area overlooking the large front yard. Kitchen has all you need to cook and eat in, including a small charcoal grill outback. Games and books available for those rainy days. Owner contacted us several times to see how things were and if we needed anything. Had a great time.
We were looking for an affordable house on the Vineyard and were lucky to find Bobâs cottage. He was so helpful and responsive, including tips on the ferry. House was well suited for our family of 4, and it was in a great location, convenient to Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. Itâs definitely an older cottage in a quiet area, but was clean and had everything we needed for a lovely vacation.
My three daughters (17, 21 & 22) and I had an excellent experience renting this cottage. Bob was extremely easy to communicate with. The location is ideal. A quiet street 1.5 miles from VH ferry. The house is set back from the street and offers plenty of privacy. We had fabulous weather and enjoyed all our meals and late nights of card games on the front deck. The one cool rainy night we turned on the gas fireplace and enjoyed watching movies. The kitchen had everything we needed. We used the outdoor shower exclusively.. We could not have been happier with this cottage and the entire experience. As a first time VRBO experience it could not have been easier. Be sure to check out John's fish market also where we ordered cooked and cracked lobsters and enjoyed many meals! Also good to know ask for Rosalind at Ben and Bill's ice cream in OB if you need a specialty cake (we celebrated my youngest's birthday while on vacation).
Located in a quiet byway, yet quite near to the charming town of Vineyard Haven. Spock and span throughout, with excellent wi-for. And only steps to the West Chop Cemetery, where 4 celebrities repose (including Art Buchwald).
Beautifully maintained grounds, situated on a quiet side street. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, which was great! Lots of books and games for kids as well as grown ups. Thank you Bob!
Comfy cottage with all the necessities ... great fireplace, backyard and front porch ... soooo well located . Be sure to walk to the lighthouse for sunset !
This home away from home was exactly what this family needed! So comfortable and convenient. I could not believe the kids were actually relaxed and enjoying time together. Our walks/rides into town were enjoyable. The ocean just a 1 min walk away was so beautiful! There were so many things to do and see on the island it was wonderful to come "home" to this cottage. Clean, welcoming, convenient, relaxing, and so close to everything without being in the center of town. Thank you for having us in your home, we will be back!!
We had a wonderful stay at this charming, simple, cottage. The location was perfect. We were able to walk to town in the morning for coffee. We enjoyed the little beach at the end of the street for our dog to swim and to watch the sunset! The house is set back from the road with a great front yard. The house was clean and had plenty of room for our family of 4. Air Conditioning was wonderful to have!

I have enjoyed many summers with friends and family and treasure the peaceful and private cottage setting.
Martha's Vineyard has been our favorite vacation destination for many years. We chose this cottage for its ideal location in the West Chop section of Vineyard Haven. The cottage is full of charm and literally a two-minute walk to the beach at the end of the street.
