Casa Cristina is the best of both worlds - modern and historical and on the Tyrrhenian Sea!
Casa Christina is in the heart of old town Scalea, which is several hundred years old. It is near an old Norman castle and Santa Maria D'Episcopio church. The old town of Scalea is vibrant mix of local inhabitants (my neighbors have been living there for over 50 years) and some tourists. (Most tourist are Italian.) The area is a maze of cobblestone stairs and winding alleys - with some amazing restaurants in the mix. You feel like you are in a small Italian village when you are walking around and exploring or dining in the nearby restaurants.
Casa Christina has been completely renovated. New kitchen, electrical, beds, bedding, etc. In addition - the high speed internet is perfect for zoom calls and streaming movies. The main pedestrian street in Scalea is a 10 minute walk (down a few flights of stairs). The main street has more great restaurants, shops, and most importantly - a Uniero! (Uniero is a very modern electronics/home shop - perfect for forgotten adaptors and power cords.) There are also several very modern grocery stores - in additional to local markets.
The beaches in Scalea are beautiful and clean. The water is an amazing blue and there is miles of coastline to explore. There are plenty of lido's on the beach serving amazing drinks and fresh sea food. It is also possible to rent bikes and scooters in order to explore the neighboring areas.
It is important to note that getting to/from the apartment will require being able to navigate several flights of stairs. (There are stairs required to get to Via Purgatoria, to get from the street (Via Purgatoria) to the actual apartment, and there is a spiral staircase that goes from the top floor to the master bedroom.)
