The private back deck is an excellent place for admiring the adjacent forest and creek - grab a book off the shelf and bask in tranquility while you read. For some family fun time, there's an array of board games to choose from for some friendly competition, or you can stream a movie in the comfy living area.

When you want to relax at the end of a day of outdoor excursions, soak in the main bathroom's jetted tub before turning in for the night.

Mixed review

Vacasa was supportive, but we had some fundamental issues with the stay that the owners clearly knew about prior to us checking in. It was not remediated during our visit.

Unfortunately, our stay at this house was very disappointing. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that cleanliness and maintenance were not a priority. There were spiders everywhere, including inside the house, which made it very uncomfortable. We found food residue left on plates, the sheets were dirty, and the TV didn’t work at all. The outdoor area wasn’t any better the grass was completely overgrown and looked like it hadn’t been touched in weeks. The deck was filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Overall, the place felt neglected and unhygienic. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless some serious cleaning and upkeep are done.

They're trying

It was a beautiful home at first glance, but then we noticed the problems as we unpacked. The place was not up to par. In fairness, upon a phone call to Vacasa, they immediately sent someone to make it right. Unfortunately, mechanical failures later arose, which again Vacasa swiftly sent someone out to take care of. The home needs a good deep cleaning and a little repair to bring it to par but with the support we had from Vacasa, we will most likely be using them again in the future. Their customer service and maintenance response is unmatched and professional, the home we had was a fluke and lead to a unsatisfactory stay. It is what it is and crap just goes wrong sometimes, props to Vacasa for doing everything possible to make it good!

Disappointing

We were happy with the layout and most of the accommodations, but there was a fundamental problem which was the master bedroom bed was broken. My friend went to get into bed the first night and the support beams on the bed collapsed. After taking off the mattress from the bed to sleep on the floor, they noticed the bed had been already broken and re-assembled several times based on the way the screws were and the extra support board that was attached. We contacted vacasa, who stated they needed approval from the owner to get a new bed in there, and after our 4 day stay (3 nights) there was no remediation or reimbursement provided. Other minor issues included no kitchen towels upon arrival, a leaky kitchen sink faucet, and sharp plastic shards in the living room and bedroom carpets. We would have been very happy had it not been for the bed mishap and getting mixed messages about whether it was going to be fixed or not during our stay. Hence, the mixed rating.

Cozy

We enjoyed our stay. The house is very close to the beach which makes for a nice 5 minute walk. The neighbourhood is very quiet and relaxing. The house is in definite need of updating. The master bed supports collapse in the middle of the night, they are fixable but it’s an annoyance for sure. Freezer doesn’t keep things frozen and the front and back steps are extremely hazardous and slippery due to overgrowth of mold. A non- slip tread would be very prudent as we fell on the steps so it’s a major hazard. Overall it was a nice place to spend a few weeks. Comfy mattresses and smart tv was a bonus. The furniture is extremely uncomfortable with an odd layout.

Nice location

We love the Rockaway beach area and this home is close enough to walk to a very nice part of the beach. It seems like a newer VRBO and has great potential. There was a broken toaster and the bed broke, both of which I noticed in another review. The place was clean, but lacking in furniture. We used tray tables for a bedside table and a place to put our luggage. You will need to buy your own ice as the refrigerator has no trays. I think a little investment by the owner could make this a terrific option in the future.

Cute but a little rough around the edges

The house is cute, great distance to the beach. Seems like maybe it just started being used as a rental. The dishwasher would not latch so we couldn’t run it, the toaster was missing the lever to push down to activate the toasting, there were carpenter ants in the house, and the master bedroom bed frame support legs broke while we were sleeping in the middle of the night so we wound up sleeping on the mattress on the floor. Vacasa was easy to contact about the bed issue and I told them we would just stick with the mattress on floor since we only had one more night to stay so I’m assuming they fixed it after we left. We actually would stay there again because it was a cute house and very clean, they just have some kinks to work out.
