An off-grid comfy cabin in a quiet corner of a midcoast organic farm
A lovingly built cabin made for a getaway place for our extended family who are now too busy to keep it in use so we offer it to your family and friends! It is off-grid yet quite comfortable with oil lanterns, two burner camping stove for cooking, an indoor sink, an outhouse and an outdoor solar bag heated shower, and an outdoor fire pit. The roomy screen porch is a particular favorite with our guests. Sheets are provided and a few blankets (you may want to bring additional blankets given our erratic Maine weather) and we ask that you provide your own towels, candles and flashlights. If you come in the fall be prepared for quickly changing weather and bring your layers! A separate room with a full sized bed, and a sleeping loft with a twin and a double mattress on the floor - this site does not allow us to describe the loft properly! The main room also has a futon full couch if needed. The cabin is located adjacent to logging roads and our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard , ramps, and a producing strawberries in a hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months (and ask that you respect all fencing!), and keep pekin ducks (the white ones hence our farm name "White Duck Farm"). The farm is 75+/- acres and located on a quiet rural road - star gazing anyone? We have a canoe available to rent and use at our nearby creek and two ponds. Food markets and some very good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. Our town has a large number of conservation areas for hikes and exploring. Perfect location to explore the rest of Maine's midcoast and islands - or heck! - just relax!
Nice quiet getaway to visit Maine. Everything is just as pictured - well maintained, great views of wildlife and not far from many things to see and do!
Absolutely stunning cabin, beautifully equipped with necessities. Quiet and peaceful, short drive to amenities and local sights. Enjoyed all of the quirks of this cabin, the attention to detail, and the coziness of it. 10/10 would stay here again!
I stayed here with 3 friends for my birthday weekend and it was perfect. So nice to be unplugged in the midcoast and close to some of my favorite places like Bethâs farm in Warren and Damariscotta Lake. I would stay here again!
This is a wonderful way to experience some of the fun of camping, but having all the amenities of a cabin/glamping type of experience. The cabin was very nice and spacious, clean, and had all the kitchen necessities we could want. The cabin location is quiet, private, and set in a beautiful woods environment. We had easy access to the Damariscotta town area and would happily stay again on a next visit.
The cabin was absolutely wonderful. It was a great "home-base" for my husband and I. We slept great. I really enjoyed using the kerosene lamps and the woodburning stove. I would absolutely recommend it.
This is a sweet and comfortable cabin. Very clean and homey. Felt roomy for four. Enjoyed the surroundings and being tucked away from it all. Host Barbara was friendly, communicative, easy to work with, and very accommodating. We highly recommend!
Thank you so much, my kids have never truly experienced off grid and it was great! The cabin was beautiful, quant and quiet. I would absolutely do this again, and have shared this with everyone!
I stayed with my two kids, ages 10 and 12. We loved it! Everything you need for an off-grid stay. Plenty of room, gorgeous scenery, we spent mornings eating breakfast on the screened in porch and nights reading by the light of the oil lamps. Camp stove was perfect for quick meals and morning coffee. Canât wait to stay again someday!
This is a super lovely cabin owned by an artist couple, and it shows. The cabin is appropriately spare, but also really warm and beautiful. Even the outhouse is quite nice, and everything was absolutely clean and spotless. I would definitely stay here again for longer, but come prepared with dry ice for the cooler and a few of my own lanterns. Dark enough for great stargazing, but still in proximity to great food and activities.
We had a wonderful stay
My only complaint was the drive way road, it was very rough on our small car. We scraped the underside a couple times trying to avoid the bumps. We would come again
Beautiful Cabin in a really lovely relaxing setting
Beautiful cabin in a really lovely and relaxing setting. The cabin is exactly as described and ridiculously roomy. The kitchen is well set up and very functional. It was like they had already thought of absolutely everything we would need, including abundant fresh potable water in storage containers. The surroundings are gorgeous plenty of places to walk a large dog and still not see anyone at all. Perfect place to sit back relax and unwind for a few days
Honestly I was scared as a single female. Lots of wildlife sounds at night. I knew from the beginning I was roughing it for my 60th birthday. I would stay again but with another companion. Cabin was very clean. I would have preferred a blanket that was warmer. Other than that, it was good.
We had a wonderful weekend getaway in this cozy cabin. Unfortunately it was a rainy time but we still enjoyed ourselves with trips to local lighthouses and towns. With the overcast weather the sun shower was a bit "refreshing"but it was still fun to bathe under the sky.
Hopefully we can try again and experience nicer weather, so we can enjoy cooking with a fire and roasting marshmallows.
Thank you for sharing your rustic escape with us.
Barbara is an organic farmer, and designer (architectural and landscape). Chris is an artist whose work you will see hung in the cabin. We work from our home which is about a half mile from the cabin.
