We had a very nice stay at Whispering Pines! It is ideal for big groups, there was plenty of space for everybody without it feeling crowded. The upstairs sitting room area had toys and makes a great area for kids to play or teenagers to have their own space. The house was very clean and we had no issues with anything. I received the check in info 24 hours in advance and it was very easy to just show up and get settled in after a long car ride. This house had the least amount of check out requirements of any house rental I've stayed at, no cleaning / laundry / trash / stripping beds required. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a good family vacation home.
Property was fine. Housekeeping was terrible. Cookie on stair landing. Dust and cobwebs throughout. Switch plate in hall bath dirty.Coffee and coffee grounds still in coffee maker. Several dishes dirty. One trash bag for kitchen, although we registered 6 guests for 5 days. Management response was horrible. All responses seemed automated. We were told to supply additional trash bags ourselves.
Thanks for the hospitality! We loved our stay- no complaints at all! Beds were comfortable- nice furniture and loved the cute woodland accents. Brought my own big pot for cooking- recommend that!
The property is close to the Crystal mountain Ski area. Location was a benefit for our group of 9. However when checking in the property had a major issue with mousing droppings all over then kitchen area. The shower on the main floor did not close and there was limited blankets in the bed rooms. The home is not well maintained.
Overall great stay. Property had plenty of space and was great for our annual ski weekend - 6 adults and 3 tweens.
Few things to note that may need attention. The dishwasher was not working properly and there appears to be a small leak in upstairs shower into downstairs bathroom. Nothing major and did not bother our stay, but probably something to look into.
Also curtain/blinds in upstairs bedrooms would be nice. ;)
House of horrors with million scary stuffed animals
I had read that you needed to bring pillows and warm bedding.. thank goodness I did, how anyone could rent a house at a ski area with 1 thin blanket on bed is beyond me!!! We have 3 small children in tears scared of all the million stuffed real looking stuffed animals everywhere?? Too much stuff everywhere, 10 pillows on couch, where do you sit? How do you not have a shower in master bedroom? We all had to shower upstairs because one down so small. Location was the best quality of this home, would I rent again?? Absolutely not. It took 3 phone calls to get more towels, they said they donât do that.. only 1 per person for 1 week stay, finally after 3 calls they reluctantly gave us more.
Perfectly adequate for 8 guys, and we all love Crystal Resort. One thing - cleanliness. The refrigerator was not cleaned - obvious crumbs and stains, and cherry stems in the crisper drawer. Also, one of the guys lost his keys - during the search, we had to get under/into the couches - one the sofa sleeper. NOT pretty. That needs to be taken care of.
Bones of this house are good, layout is nice. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils, house was clean (minus the screened porch & outdoor furniture), management company Vacasa was great. Responsive to items that needed to be taken care of. Wonderful location to Crystal Mtn. The beds in the 3 rooms downstairs, less than desirable. One was missing a mattress pad, they are small (doubles, not queens in 2 rooms), no comforters (just a sheet and blanket). No shower in the master bath, just a tub. Also, no blinds on any of the bedroom windows upstairs. Lots of stuffed animals, knick knacks & games.
Whispering Pine definitely has its pros & cons. Pros include the 5 bedrooms, close proximity to Crystal Mtn, responsive when we need attention to a couple things.
Cons-very dirty carpet, very low lighting & lights out in shower & bathroom. Uncomfortable bed & no shower in âmasterâ.
Very dated but served out purpose as we were skiing the majority of our stay
Perfect distance to the slopes. Far enough away that it's very quiet, but an easy walk, even for small kid.
Inside, there's lots of woodland decor - if you're looking for the rustic ski lodge vibe, this is it! We loved it.
The kid/bunk bedrooms are upstairs; if you're a parent needing to be right next to your kid's room, this might not work, but if you like to have some separation between the kid space and adult bedrooms, it's perfect. Worked very well for our group. There are even toys (Legos, board games, video game system) for all ages. The only thing we wished this property had is window treatments for the upstairs bedrooms.
We loved our stay and would definitely book it again.
Great location at Crystal Mountain resort! The house is perfect for families & the toys were great for our 6, 5 & 2 year old grandsons. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare family meals. Lots of space with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms & both a family room & a loft space.
We stayed at Whispering Pines this weekend and were overall very pleased. When we arrived at the property at 3:15 pm there were no keys in the lockbox. A property manager arrived shortly after and said we couldn't go in until 4 pm. The heat was not working and it was 45 degrees in the house. We left for a bit and came back at 4:30 with the promise a heating guy would come soon. Heat was back on by 5:15pm and all went well the rest of the weekend.
The only things that we didn't like were minor. Bunk beds in one room were not well received by the adults in that room. And the dining table doesn't seat 10 so some people had to eat off their laps at meal times. There's no window treatments in most of the house, which gives a bit a fishbowl feeling at night when everyone going by can see in.
All in all we would definitely rent this house again.
