Our first experience on the Oregon coast and it was a winner! 4th of July was so much fun! This rental space is just steps to the beach and steps into town. Was so convenient! Loved all the events throughout the day! Fireworks on the beach was a highlight.
These units are kinda rundown and not super clean. I called ahead to understand how the kitchen was stocked. I brought a ton of my own things to cook and eat with. Which was fine. In general this place was sufficient for what we needed, especially since it was a very busy holiday weekend. The whole upstairs was listed together, and even though we didn't need that many rooms it was nice we had the whole second floor. This is right next to the railroad track and the main highway, but the noise wasn't too much of an issue. Linens were clean and the place was organized.
The pictures would indicate this is a recent remodel. It is not. Paint has been haphazardly applied to existing walls (and outlets, cords, ceilings). The oven was damaged (but functional). The back patios of all units were dirty (some covered in bird poop and feathers, another smelled heavily of urine). One unit's back slider didn't have an ability to lock. The entire exterior was in disrepair with cracked paint, peeling deck wood that broke off and caused a splinter.
It is described as being condos. They are old motel units. It is not a great place for the 26 people is holds. There is no communinal place to gather. The one unit with a kitchen also has a King bed and a table that seats 4 comfortably. There is not enough dishes for 26 people, and all utensils were likely purchased from the Dollar General (across a frontage road, across railroad tracks, across Hwy 101). The cutlery was flimsy. The coffee maker in the kitchen and at least one other unit was broken. Even for non-COVID cleaning practices the place was dirty. There was a stain on a comforter, and doors were dirty around the handles. Cleaning crew missed a dirty razor (presumably left behind by prior guest) in the shower.
Vacasa did not provide us with the codes to access the keys (in lock boxes) and I had to call in upon arrival to get the codes. One of the codes was wrong and had to call again. They relayed a message to someone who had to call me back. Luckily the wait wasn't long and I got the code, but it was a frustrating start to the stay. No one was on site except for once I was able to catch someone in the maintainence room and I got extra towels and a garbage bag. I needed more but he had run out. He said he'd get more but I never saw him again after.
If we'd paid half of what we did and knew the true quality of the property, I wouldn't feel so upset. We felt duped and robbed.
It was an entirely awkward way to vacation for our family reunion and NOT worth the money we spent. The walk to the beach was decent.
The best thing about our trip was the beach and the Beach Bakery in town.
