We had an amazing vacation here. We had 4 generations ranging from 4 months to 81 years and everyone had a great time. There was room to spread out and room to all gather together. Having the private pool and spa was perfect. Host was available when we needed her and the B and B was well stocked. We also loved the Maui feel of the accommodations and being out of the busier parts of Maui. I highly recommend this venue for larger groups!

What a special property. The location is perfect. We rented it for a work training and it was excellent since everyone has their own room/bathroom but we were able to meet in the large living room for evening presentations/discussions. The host was responsive with questions. It was very clean and check-in was easy. I hope to return again for both this meeting and with family for vacation.

Rooms were clean. Timely response by host.Couple of times locked ourself out of our rooms. Host showed up in minutes and had them unlocked for us. Kitchen was clean and spacious for a group of 13 adults.Plenty of fans provided. Air conditioning in the bedrooms would have made this a luxurious place for large groups.Overall a very good experience.

Paradise for a large family reunion with children

There is absolutely nothing we could think of that was missing from our week at Banyon Tree! The property is beautiful, lovingly maintained, and made this our best trip to Hawaii ever!! Actually, our best-ever family vacation! Plenty of room for swimming, playing Capture the Flag, enjoying family dinners, playing card and table games, and just hanging out. We enjoyed seeing the turtles at Ho’okepa Beach, playing in the river at Íao State Park, and shopping local markets. Comfortable island breezes topped off our trip to Maui. Thank you, Helena, for your responsiveness throughout the reservation process and during our stay! Our international family reunion was unique and remarkable because of you and Banyon Tree!

Great Family Getaway

A wonderful historic property with plenty of room for active kids - We enjoyed catching up with each other while the kids played soccer & ping pong. Everyone enjoyed the pool. A great base from which to explore beaches & the local towns. Helaina was welcoming & available if we needed anything. It was a much more authentic experience than staying in a resort or condo. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing

A great place for a family vacation! We had a large family vacation planned and this was the perfect spot! Enough room for everyone to have their own space and for everyone to gather together as well! The space was gorgeous and we enjoyed cooking meals and eating together! We would highly recommend it! The hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond when we had any questions or needed anything!

Families and friends trip

4 families total 14 people stayed at this place and we all had an amazing time!! Communication with the owner went great and she was always responsive. One family couldn’t come to the trip but she worked out a refund for us by closing off one of the rooms. She even bought a new rice cooker for us!! Thank you so much for the great hospitality.

The Banyan Tree

This property was an amazing oasis for our large group. Plenty of beds and separate areas for relaxing. The backyard was very large and fun for our children to play in. The pool is much larger than it seems in the pictures and on the days we used it we had a lot of fun. The kitchen was nicely stocked with basic spices, and provided ample space for cooking. Having laundry available was also a nice amenity! We would absolutely stay here again and look forward to returning someday!

Upcountry gem

Where else on Maui can you find a seven bedroom, seven bathroom private home that exists in a botanical garden? This place is an Upcountry Shangri-la, whether you’re working or playing. It mixes the utilitarian (see above about bedrooms/ bathrooms) with the Romantic: jaw dropping views, unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, and a view to the night sky that would make an early explorer just as relaxed. I’ll bet there are two dozen interesting trees on the property: an epic Banyan tree, an avocado tree, citrus trees, and many more of the flowering variety I couldn’t identify. There’s a beautiful pool and jacuzzi, and a set of common areas that make you want to hang out. I was part of a crew that was filming on Haleakala. We needed a place up the mountain that would make our daily commute manageable. I highly recommend.

A true piece of paradise

Helenia is an amazing host and was very responsive with any questions we had leading up to and during our stay. The property truly is a beautiful as the pictures show. You won’t be disappointed at all. The main house is a century old and has such a great feel to it. There is soooo much room for everyone and the private bedrooms (each with its own coffee maker!) are the perfect amount of separation. My extended family and I were lucky enough to stay here and everyone had nothing but positive things to say. Thanks again Helenia for the amazing memory.

Celebration Weekend

As opposed to a traditional party, we rented this property for a long weekend and our entire family was able to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy time together! I knew it would be fun, but it surpassed my expectations. It matched our style and speed perfectly. The hosts were available and responsive to every question we had. We had a blast and made beautiful memories. I would do it again in a heartbeat when my next son graduates from High School! Thank you Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast.

Family Golden Anniversary Celebration

Our family of 14, including our children and grandchildren from ages 8-17, stayed at this beautiful property the week before Christmas. Our experience was excellent. Our hosts were attentive and thoughtful. The main house was large and well-furnished for our needs. The roomy kitchen was well-equipped, the dining and living rooms were big enough for us all to gather, and the family enjoyed the ping pong table in the sunroom, as well as the hot tub outdoors. We appreciated that each bedroom and cottage had its own bathroom, so each family (ourselves, our three children and their spouses, and the six grandchildren) had a private space as well as the large communal space in the big house. The three cottages housed two couples, while most of the grandkids stayed together in the third roomy cottage. The main house had four separate suites, so the remaining two couples and the oldest grandchild had suites to themselves, with the fourth suite unused. I especially want to thank our hosts for the bottled water and ice cream they brought to us when the city water main broke and we were briefly without water through no fault of theirs. The property itself is beautiful and restful. We highly recommend this listing for extended family gatherings.

Relaxing & Peaceful on Maui

Our family of 14 spent time on Maui at the Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast & then on Oahu. Maui was our favorite. The Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast lends itself to a more relaxing vacation. You are surrounded by the beauty of Hawaii. We spent each evening watching the sun go down sitting next to the pool. There was plenty of room to meet together, but also plenty of room for a large party to have privacy. We were surprised that the sun was down by 7:30 p.m. This led us to going to bed early & waking up early to the sound of many birds and wildlife as well as the chickens by 5:30 a.m. You should be aware that you need to bring your own coffee pods for the keurig & paper towels (1 provided). There is a large washer and dryer on the property with furnished detergent, but you are asked to pay $6 a load. There is no breakfast provided, but in Makawao just a minute or two away there is an outstanding bakery, Komoda Bakery. There is no air conditioner which took some getting used to. However, each room has a fan. By the time the sun went down it surprisingly was a little chilly. We opened the doors and windows and enjoyed the breeze through our rooms. The property is older, but is very clean. Our host Helaina & her husband live next door to the property & were quick to respond to questions & needs. The house is centrally located which made it easy to go anywhere on the island. We loved how relaxing & peaceful our time was at the Banyan Tree Bed and Breakfast and would highly recommend it!

50th anniversary family trip

This is a beautiful property that easily and comfortably accommodated our family of 12. The large main house was perfect for gathering, with a spacious living room and well stocked kitchen. The grounds were gorgeous where the little ones loved running and playing, and a large pool and hot tub were great for relaxing in the evenings. The owners were wonderfully kind and accommodating, making check-in and check-out smooth and stress free. This was the perfect place for our family vacation, and we would absolutely stay here again.

We spent 3 nights on the property. There were 16 in our group so took up the whole property which was nice. The house had everything we needed. The host was easy to communicate with and very friendly!We loved using the pool everyday and enjoyed having coffee outside with the beautiful views.

A very special family holiday

After months of searching for a spot and planning a family Christmas/New Year vacation for me and my extended family, including 4 toddlers, we settled on the this property on Maui. Simply put, it was perfect for all of us. Beautiful compound on a stunning piece of property with hosts who jumped through hoops to be sure we were happy and comfortable. The 10 days we spent on Maui will forever be a special memory for me and my family and we hope to stay at the at this beautiful B&B again someday. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I don’t even know where to begin. Our stay at the Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast in Makawao was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place was a gem. The facilities were lovely, well-maintained, and designed to make you feel at home in paradise.The location was perfect—right in the middle of everything! Whether we wanted to explore the charming little cowboy town of Makawao, head to the beach, or take a scenic drive upcountry, it was all within reach.What truly made the experience stand out was how every single need was taken care of. We even had the pleasure of hosting a dinner for our group of 12, catered by the talented Chef Evan Presents. It was such a memorable evening, made possible by the thoughtful amenities and beautiful ambiance of the property.The pool was crystal clear, and the hot tub offered breathtaking sweeping views that were perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. Having a washer and dryer on-site was an added bonus, especially after long days of adventuring.I also appreciated the transparency—there were no hidden fees, just genuine hospitality. A huge thank-you to Helaina for making our stay so seamless and enjoyable. A perfect place to stay with oyr adult children and their friends, and my husbands parents. Great place, great location

This was an excellent property for our family reunion. We stayed in 7 bedrooms with attached baths. The kitchen and dining rooms were large enough to accommodate our needs. The kids loved the on-site pool and ping pong table. The location was central to all the activities we took advantage of. Being close to the airport (as well as Costco) was an added advantage as we made multiple pickup trips to the airport. The check-in and check out with Helaina was a breeze. We had no issues and would highly recommend this property for large groups.

Family Vacation Maui

We needed a place to stay in Maui that could accommodate our group of 16 people consisting of 6 separate family groups. We preferred to say near the center of Maui so we could make excursions to various attractions. Makawao was the perfect location for this and the Banyan Tree Bed and Breakfast exceeded our expectations. The individual suites are private and the main home living room, dining room and kitchen were large enough for our entire group to gather together. The pool is very large and was fantastic; our grandkids and family had a great time swimming. The lawn is large and was a great place for the grandkids to play. The grandkids also loved the ping pong table in the sunroom. The landscaping and views are spectacular. We could not be more pleased with this property and everyone had a great experience. We want to return there in the future.

Most of our guests remark on how beautiful and relaxing the property is. Wide open lawns that are surrounded by sprawling old trees and flower gardens all help create the ideal restful atmosphere.
