Great Beach Cottage

We stayed here for Fantasy Fest and loved it. It was the perfect walking distance to everything and the historic charm of this cottage was perfect.

Best trip ever.

House was perfect for me it was close to everything but still quiet at night. Had plenty of room and was clean to our high standards. People were friendly and helpful when needed. Plan on staying here again.

Location, location, location

In the heart of Key West, walk to every bar, restaurant and attraction. The cottage is just as described, 3 king beds, great for 5 adults.

Quaint Cottage - Great Location

Alot of reviews stated the home was old and worn down. Being realistic so are most of the homes in Key West. It is part of the appeal. We had four couples stay for three days. It worked just fine. Plenty of seats for all of us, 3 king beds and a new pullout sofa that was comfy. We were not even a block off of south Duval. Couldn't ask for a better spot. Had to be a little careful walking down the hall as the floor was not level and some of the doors stuck a little. Minor inconveniences. We had a terrific time.

Location is perfect

The location was perfect! We remted this place for location and hot tub. Hot tub was filthy, and was never able to be utilized. We spoke with property manager immediately, and they promised to fix, however, this never occured even with a follow up call. Their main concern appeared to be whether we were left amenities. The property was fairly clean for todays standards. The back bedroom on left carpet has quirw. Few dog pee stains and does smell of dog urine, but it was tolerable. Its an adorable quaint little place, and very nostalgic to the key vibe. I have pics of the hot tub upon arrival.. leaves in bottom of hot tub, skin and devris floating in ot, as well as error codes flashing preventing jets from working. Im a property inspector for cabins in gatlinburg tn, and i also own a cabin in the smoky mountains. I would never leave my guests with sorry for the inconvenience. The hot tub would have been rectified immediately... thats not the world today i suppose. We left it almost as clean as we found it!

Nice and historic/needs updates

The property was very cute and historic. It could use some updates, a little elbow grease to clean things besides just a broom. A few inexpensive updates would make a huge difference. The air conditioning units had mold in all of them so if air quality is a concern, you may want to rethink this. Air conditioning in the living room does not keep it very cool so that was an issue. The location was great as you can walk to everything in old town easily. The parking spot is fine if you drive a motorcycle or rent the little 4 seat buggies all over town. If you drive a car, you better be super skinny to park and be able to get out. You have about 6” on either side of the vehicle and that is not an exaggeration. If the neighbors decide to park too far over, you won’t be able to park at all. Need to get out of the spot? Well, you better be good at backing and pulling forward multiple times to get turned around. I am glad I had a professional driver with me because there is no way I could have done it. I contacted the managing office and they didn’t really seem concerned about the mold, dirt, or air conditioning. They were a little concerned about the parking issue and offered to have the car towed that was infringing on our tiny space. I was not impressed with Vacasa for the most part. You can rent a brand new and much bigger cabin in the mountains of Tennessee for less than half the price. We wanted to see Key West and we did. It’s a nice place to visit.

Cockroaches Everywhere!

First we will start with the good: the location was great and the house was very cute. The bad, the house is infested with cockroaches and the cleaning is subpar. We saw cockroaches morning and night all four days we stayed here in almost every room of this house. The house was not very clean (my toddler daughter's feet were black from walking around the house barefoot, I found a large piece of broken glass on the floor of the kitchen). The first night we saw cockroaches in the kitchen, I emailed the property owner immediately. Upon no reply by noon the following day, I called and they said they would call me back. Not hearing back by 3:30pm, I called back and they said they had sent extirminators to the house (we were out of the house and had no idea they were coming). Unfortunately, this was not the end of the cockroach problem. That night, we saw cockroaches in both the back and front bathrooms (near the vanity cabinet and on the sink by toothbrushes, respectively). I called the following morning and the property manager said they would send someone back over. They apparently sent a cleaning crew, who cleaned the bathrooms (although one of the towels they hung up had a huge curly black hair on it). We saw cockroaches again that night in the bathrooms. The next morning I saw one on the floor/wall in the back bedroom. The last night we slept there we were very uneasy because there were clearly cockroaches/palmetto bugs throughout the entire house. Another guest found a cockroach in her toiletry bag upon unpacking when she returned home. My husband and I have been to Key West half a dozen times and have never encountered a single cockroach in any of the houses we've stayed. I was very disappointed with the lack of concern by the property manager over the condition of this property. Had the house not had cockroaches, it would have been great. Backyard is very cute and hot tub looked great. If the property manager took care of the palmetto bug/cockroach problem and hired a more thorough cleaner, this house would be a great place to stay in Key West.

I’ll start by saying we had a great time, and the location is right in the heart of Duval St. The house served us well, I’m just trying to give a sense of what you get.The place was clean, but it’s basically a shack. The pictures shown are not how the house is furnished, the pictures look nicer than reality. Keep in mind there is no washer and dryer. You’re on a dirt road, there’s no mats at the entrance, so you track sand and dirt into the house. There is a tree in the neighbors yard that drops tons of seed pods into the back yard. They also drop onto the roof all night long.

I will list the cons first, so you can see why we gave them 2 stars.CONS:- First night of check-in, found a live cockroach in middle bedroom closet. Contacted Vacasa. Man arrived next morning with roach traps and spray.- That morning, went to make breakfast, mouse droppings found in pots, pans, and silverware drawer. Man said he can't do anything until we check-out.- No Dishwasher to clean dishes with mouse feces. Didn't use the kitchen after that.- 2nd night, ants crawling around headboard in same bedroom. Told to use spray and remove food items from room (which there were no food items in any room). Stopped using room at this point.- Found a flea in a bed. Asked to take a picture, but it jumped off the bed before I could squish it.- No Washer/Dryer- Older home so uneven flooring (son stubbed his toe on the entry to first bathroom so be careful)- Do not bring large vehicles (i.e. big trucks/vans) as parking is extremely tight.I sent pictures and video to the management company so they were aware. Stayed 3 nights and was compensated very little for the inconvenience (even though there were 4 adults now forced to eat out all meals, every day we were there). We book VRBOs for the use of the kitchen to save money. Definitely the most disappointing we've ever stayed in.PROS:- Right on Duval street so you can walk to a lot of things- A/C units in each bedroom was nice

Some good and challenges

The house was okay. Nothing stood out but it worked for what was needed. The challenges began with changes made to the home and it no longer sleeps 8. It now sleeps 6 and could do 7 if an uncomfortable couch is acceptable. We did not revive communication in advance and on day 2 we were finally provided an air mattress which deflated rather quickly. Two people did not have sleeping arrangements and even slept on a lounge chair outside. They have offered a very small refund which we had no say or ability to influence. We requested to at least get a refund for the price of one person and that request was ignored. While they have been somewhat responsive, it was not satisfactorily resolved. Communication seems to be the root issue since they did not communicate about the sleeping capacity change when they made it which was about two months before our trip.

Not The Best

Initially the cleaning, bathroom, bedding, linens were good. Clean bathroom fixtures. Clean towels and plentyful. Bedding was clean. The problem was the absolutely filthy carpeting in the bedrooms. Bed #2 the carpet heavily smelled of urine. The smell was nauseous. Bidet drain didn't work. Hot tub needed many repairs, wood falling off the exteriors unsafe. Air conditioner filters not serviced very dirty. Rusty tubs.Very dissatisfied considering the cost.No washer or dryer on property

Girls Getaway

Nice 3 bedroom 2 bath for 4 women to share. Nice and comfortable. Location was great, just steps from Duval Street. We walked everywhere.

Perfect cottage for six

What an adorable home and a great location in Key West. Great Cottageville wonderful back porch to sit out on and have coffee. Hot tub was awesome to get into after walking all day. Kitchen had a nice big fridge big stove cabinets full of glasses, dishes, silverware. Most of the beds were comfortable, everything was great. Recommended highly.

I loved the fact that you allowed dogs and you didn’t have a 30lb. limit like most places do!! It’s very difficult to find a place that allows larger dogs.

Great place to stay right off Duvall St.

Easy "check in". Really like the property. It was clean and comfortable. The location is right off Duvall Street. Minimal clean up required to "check out". Would definitely stay here again if I'm back in Key West. Be aware, parking is tight if you are driving mini van or SUV.

Key West house with a lot of charm and character!

Everything mentioned in the other reviews is true. Is it old? Yes. Is it a great location? Yes! Is the back patio amazing? Yes! Is the carpet kinda gross? Yeah, kinda! We stayed for three days/nights and had no issues. It wasn’t the Ritz, but it was a great location and allowed three couples to relax together comfortably. Having stayed there, I would stay there again and would recommend to friends - as long as they knew that it was an older key West house with a lot of great charm and character!
