If you want peace and solitude with stunning views in a comfy, dog-friendly place of your own Copy Wood Cottage is your ideal location, situated high in the hamlet of Tinkersley above the Derwent Valley, a short drive or walk from Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall and the towns of Bakewell and Matlock. Nestled on the edge of Beeley Moor Copy Wood sits below woodland and is surrounded by fields grazed by sheep. A short walk through the woods brings you either up on to the moor or down to Rowsley.
Stayed here for a two night weekend stay with friends and two dogs. This is a comfy county style cottage with all the amenities you need for a lovely stay. Be aware it is a steep one track road up to the cottage which we also walked from the local pub. Plenty of drive for three cars. Access to slot if local walks many of which information provided by host in welcome folder . Easy access to accommodation and responsive host. Awesome views from the property too . Great value for money
Beautiful house in a stunning location. The house is exceedingly well equipped and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and especially relished the tranquility. Many thanks to the owners.
Lovely location; lovely position with fab views. Very comfortable cottage, just right for our needs.
Communication with owner was great and everything was as expected. Look forward to another stay!
This lovely cottage sits in a perfect location looking out over a wonderful corner of the Peak District. Close to Bakewell, Matlock and Chatsworth means even in poor weather there is plenty to do. We loved our short stay and had everything we needed for our family of 4x. Thank you to Josh who went above and beyond to help us and provided great history about the cottage and local information. We hope to come back one day.
This was our first visit to the Peak District and we absolutely loved it. Josh's cottage is off the main road and elevated on the side of a hill so the views and surrounding area was beautiful.
The rooms and accommodation we as advertised if not better. The two bedrooms upstairs are very spacious. The bedroom downstairs is slightly smaller but with an en-suite bathroom.
What a lovely cottage - we will definitely be back!
Our holiday was our first family holiday together, the house was ideal for the 3 of us. Not too fancy, but homely and I
imagine nice and cosy in the winter and had everything we needed.
The views were great from the house.
Our daughter enjoyed the garden, but did find a wasp nest in the ground đ€Šââïž
If I was being picky I'd say the garden was a little untidy and the place could do with a deep clean, but over all nothing to worry about and I would come back again as so much left to explore in the area.
Hard to get to with steep, winding roads! No dryer!
I chose this cottage because of the pictures - but they don't show how hard the cottage is to get to - or how steep and winding the road is. The entrance is actually very narrow - and we missed it the first time we were trying to find it. A neighbor farther up let us turn around in her driveway. Getting in required that we make a sharp turn - and getting out meant that we had to back out - no room for our large van to turn around.
I will say that the neighbors were nice. In addition to the lady who let us turn around on her property, another neighbor let me use his wifi so I could access the email with the instructions on how to get in. (I'm from the USA and my phone didn't have international service.)
There was a washer - but no dryer. My brother hung his laundry indoors on anything he could find. (An indoor clothesline or drying rack would have been nice.)
The instructions said that a Netflix subscription was included - but it didn't appear to be so when we tried it. We watched regular TV instead.
The property is lovely with plenty of space for a family, although there were just the 2 of us. The downsides were that some things needed fixing (eg upstairs loo not flushing) and it needed better cleaning (cobwebs).
Overall though a lovely stay - a great cottage with great views and a really good location. We went to Chatsworth House and took shortish walks from Monsal Head. Both about 15/20 mins away. The furthest we went was to Blue John Cavern, 45 mins, but there are caves a lot closer.
Loved it there!
