Situé à seulement 3 km du bourg géorgien d’Ashbourne, le Swallows Cottage jouit d’une allée privée entourée de 5 hectares de jardins et de vergers (offrez-vous des prunes, des damsons et des pommes en automne). Prenez un sentier directement de votre porte arrière au village historique de Tissington et au-delà. Détendez-vous au bord de la piscine privée (uniquement avec les propriétaires) en juin, juillet et août ou apportez une canne et tentez votre chance à la pêche dans le ruisseau Bentley. Détendez-vous sur le grand canapé en cuir en regardant l'un des nombreux DVD devant le poêle à bois du salon, meublé d'antiquités françaises. Il y a aussi beaucoup de livres et de jeux. Préparez votre repas préféré dans la grande cuisine / salle à manger bien équipée avec une grande table en pin lavé (8 places) et un réfrigérateur / congélateur Smeg, une machine à café Nespresso, un lave-vaisselle, un lave-linge / sèche-linge ou offrez-vous un repas préparé maison. de l'un des délicieux charcuteries à Ashbourne. Dormez paisiblement dans l'ancien lit à baldaquin avec des draps en lin - cette chambre dispose également d'une télévision - et d'une vue de loin sur les champs au-delà. La confortable chambre à deux lits a beaucoup de rangement et nous pouvons également fournir un lit de voyage et une chaise haute. Salle de bain moderne avec sol en pierre calcaire et chauffage au sol. Le joyau du Derbyshire, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall, Sudbury Hall et Alton Towers / Splash Landings sont à seulement 30 minutes. Profitez des pubs locaux traditionnels, des pubs gastronomiques et des restaurants proposant une excellente cuisine et de véritables feux. Explorez le Derbyshire en tout confort. Essayez la randonnée à cheval à Tissington, l'amusement plein d'action à Alton Towers, le cyclisme et la voile à Carsington Water. Lovely property

This home had beautiful views of the property and was just a short drive to Ashbourne. Plenty of places to visit and restaurants to choose from. Rooms in the home were comfortable and the kitchen had everything required to make your own meals. I would suggest better lighting in the lounge for those who choose to stay in of an evening and read a good book, etc., otherwise no complaints at all. If we were travelling in this area again, we would definitely return. Hosts were lovely.

Wonderful Cottage in a Beautiful Setting

We had a wonderful stay in the cottage. It was equipped with everything we needed and set in beautiful gardens. The kids loved the table tennis, badminton and heated pool. Izzy and Simon were fantastic hosts and we highly recommend this cottage. The location was fabulous with so much to explore all around.

Lovely Stay

A very smart and comfortable cottage with all necessary facilities. A well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting room complete with books DVDs Comfortable bed, adequate wardrobe space, bathroom with shower and bath - lots of hot water Countryside views from all windows. Cottage has high standard of decor and cleanliness. Loved the peaceful, beautifully maintained grounds with complete with garden furniture. No negative comments at all - very high recommended.

Perfect short get away

This place was amazing, the scenery, the local places to visit and the spectacular Callow Hall Hotel, where I have my fantastic birthday meal and cocktails. I would definitely return maybe in the summer this time so we can make the most of the pool. Many Thanks for a relaxing get away.

Beautiful peaceful country retreat

Really lovely cottage with beautiful views over the pool and across stunning gardens. So peaceful and well located. No passing traffic and a very well presented outdoor pool. Thoroughly enjoyed cooking on the outdoor log burner / grill. Really happy we found this place and will remember staying here very fondly, for many years to come. The owners who live next door, could not have been more welcoming and pleasant. Thank you so much.

Peak District Perfection

Our stay at Swallows Cottage was everything we had hoped for. We wanted a quiet, countryside home base that would be charming and comfortable and we found it! Izzy and Simon are the best hosts ever!! The heated pool is an added bonus although most of our time was spent exploring the Peak District and relaxing in the Cottage with a fire and book. We can’t wait to return for another visit!

Okay stay, just shy of great

Location was beautiful and easy to find with Google Maps. Close to lots of great things to see and Ashbourne is a beautiful little town 10 min away. Hosts were away for the three days we were there and instructions for some things were insufficient. Book said to put the garbage out on Wednesday but didn’t say where to put it. Weather was sunny and warm but when we opened the pool it was very dirty and full of bugs and we could not figure out how to turn on the vacuum (again no instructions). Finally the beds were very lumpy and in need of replacing. Of the four of us, none of us slept very well there unfortunately. A few more instructions and new beds and it would be a great place.

Beautiful cottage & excellent host!

Swallows Cottage was beautiful, a really cozy place with excellent views of the English countryside. We also enjoyed exploring Ashbourne with how accessible it was. Our host Izzy was very kind and welcoming, and obviously puts a lot of care in the property. Would highly recommend for a stay, an excellent experience all around!

October half term with kids

Great cottage and lovely grounds. Well equipped, clean, warm and cosy, home from home and lovely english country cottage furnishings. Great welcoming hosts. Nice extras like welcome basket, coffee machine, four poster bed, log fire, board games and beautiful grounds. Also dog friendly. Tissington is a lovely little village about 1 mile away, over the back field and other great walks nearby. Nearest pub was less than a mile but not sure if accessible by walking. Nice neighbours. Lovely little Ashbourne was a 5 min drive away with all the shops and restaurants you need for a weekend away. Kids missed a large SMART TV and second bathroom but minor points.

Simon and I bought The Priory, Swallows Cottage and The Old Engine house in 2009. Since then we have renovated The Priory and Swallow's Cottage to ensure maximum comfort - whether it be beds, heating or endless hot water. Our landscape gardener has developed the grounds, especially around the swimming pool, sympathetically and with great detail. Our three children are often away and we relish the chance to look after our Swallows Cottage guests and love introducing them to our special Derbyshire "finds". We love being in such a peaceful spot but are endlessly grateful that we are just such a short distance from Ashbourne.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Having lived in a local village (some 6 miles from Asbourne), very happily, for 10 years, we were thrilled to find the combination of rural peace but without being miles from civilization - with Ashbourne just 2 miles away we can easily whizz in for milk, papers and take-aways without feeling that we are in a built-up area. An added bonus is that we can walk by footpath, directly from the front door to Tissington and beyond.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

When we bought the property we were advised by many friends not to put a pool in - how glad we are now that we ignored their advice! This Summer has been glorious - Derbyshire at its very best. Breakfasting by the pool on a quiet Summer's morning can't be beaten.
