I stayed for 2 nights with my son. The location is perfect for all the hikes. The place was spotlessly clean and just a wee gem of a place with beautiful views. The owners James and Bal are wonderful people, very helpful and accommodating. We will stay there again for sure, loved this wee place.
We had a great stay at Pond View Cottage - fantastic walks through the valley and along the river to Grindleford and back and also to the Stepping Stones. We also had a great Christmas swim in Hathersage open air pool! The cottage itself is very well set up, living area and kitchen upstairs and cosy bedroom and bathrooom downstairs. The Plough Inn is literally just over the road, we had a great meal on New Year's Eve, and also ate at the George in Hathersage Village, about a 15 minute walk. Thanks very much to Bal and James!
Cosy little property set in the beautiful Peak District. Hosts were wonderful, communicating prior to our stay and to check in with us, and introducing themselves on our arrival. Fabulous and comfortable stay, would highly recommend for a getaway for a couple.
We (myself + 2 kids) had a lovely 3 night stay at the barn. Bal & James were so friendly and helpful, which was particularly appreciated after a long drive. The barn itself was cosy & clean - it had everything we needed for a 3 night stay. We found it was a great location for going into Sheffield but far enough out to enjoy the beautiful countryside. We hope to return!
We had a lovely 2 nights here introducing our young son to some walks in the Peak District.
The cottage was furnished to a high standard, very clean, and nice and warm!
We stayed here for a few days over new year looking to escape the world, and we certainly did. The property was superb, maintained to a very high stand, spotlessly clean and perfect for what we needed. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. Its a cute and cosy little place ideal for discovering the Peak District.
Just what we were looking for in terms of a weekend away. Walking distance of Hathersage for pubs, lido restaurants etc but also the benefit of eating in when we wanted to. Clean and comfortable location. Great host đ
Fantastic base for walking in the Derbyshire Dales. Very comfortable compact well equipped cottage.
Owners fantastic so helpful from the outset. We had a great week exploring the local area and loved returning each evening to Pond View. Nearby Hathersage and local pub make it so easy to self cater. Would recommend without hesitation.
Cottage had everthing you could need, comfotable and in a great location. Exactly what we needed. Hosts where great and check in easy. Would reccomend this cottage. Brilliant
Beautiful, well-equipped and well-designed conversion with great views and just across from a hospitable pub. The friendly and responsive owners live on site. Hathersage is 15-20 minutes walk by road or across fields.
An absolutely lovely little cottage to stay in. We stayed for a week and had an amazing stay. Communication with the owners before and during our stay was excellent. On arrival, the cottage was spotless and welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped enabling you to cook your own meals. The bed was very comfortable and shower always had hot water. The local village is a short walk away and there are many walk in the area starting from the cottage and village. Would recommend staying here and hopefully we will go back another time.
we stayed in Pond View Cottage for a week an wish we had booked for longer. The cottage had everything needed to make our stay great and the welcome gift of a bottle of wine and chocolate was a lovely surprise and gratefully appreciated. the owners Bal and James were friendly and always on hand for a chat about where to go walking and where to eat/drink . the local area is stunning and we had the sun as well. we loved staying here. I really enjoyed helping to round up the escaped chicken good way to get to know people.
We loved this lovely cottage so much. We were only here for a couple of nights over Easter, but loved every minute. A short walk from the centre of the village, across the road from a a pub with fab food (and beer!), and walks in every direction from the front door. We were instantly relaxed when we walked through the door. A perfect place for R&R and recovering from those long walks/food and beer across the road (delete as appropriate!).
Our hosts Bal and James were great, easy communication and on site if needed. Great chatting with James to find out what the future holds for the old trout farm. Very exciting plans and look forward to seeing them developâŠâŠ
Will most definitely be returning.
Quickly!
We were looking for a cosy little hideaway for a few days over New Year. Pond View was perfect, very well equipped and beautifully renovated. James and Bal have worked really hard to make sure that everything is perfect for guests and we were really happy and content, particularly coming back to the cottage after some very strenuous ten mile walks - all of which can be taken from the cottage without using the car. The pub opposite is expensive but nice - Hathersage village is only a short walk (but take a torch at night), and has lots of lovely places to eat and drink. The cottage was ALWAYS warm, very generously heated and the shower is absolutely lovely. Very luxurious master bedroom and lots of storage space. We would really recommend this cottage and hope to stay there again in the future. It's a superb location for walking and the owners are really keen to make every thing the cottage has to offer perfect for guests. Absolutely lovely, can't wait to return.
This was our second visit to the cottage, this time for a full week. It is very comfortable, clean, and has a well-equipped kitchen. The location is amazing, and we were able to do three good hikes right from the front door, where it was pretty much just us, the sheep, and the buttercups! No crowds of tourists; great, quiet lodgings close to several good pubs and restaurants. It's a short drive to the super interesting 1666 plague village of Eyam, as well as to the Chatsworth estate and their wonderful farm store. We cannot recommend this rental enough and hope to return!
This cottage is a perfect location for a holiday in the Peaks. Such easy access from the train stations, meaning you can explore the whole of the Peak District. We walked straight from the cottage to Edale and then got the train back. All the local pubs are divine too! The hosts are so friendly and helpful, can't recommend this cottage enough!
The property was exceptionally clean and well kitted out. A lovely bottle of wine made a very thoughtful gesture. The bed and linen was some of the best weâve stayed in. James was very welcoming providing really lovely accommodation. Ample car parking facilities available.
Pond View cottage ideally situated for walking in the Peak District.
Lovely, cosy cottage, ideal for a couple .Cute outdoor balcony area, right next to a private pond, where you could sit with a cup of coffee or to eat a meal.
This is an ideal location for walkers, as you can go on walks direct from the cottage, without needing the car, and the town with its various eateries is only 15 minutes walk away. There is also 1 pub/restaurant directly opposite the cottage.
Absolutely loved our week in this Lovely cottage. Perfect location for some beautiful walks. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the shower was really good. The information provided on the local area, walks and places to eat and visit was very helpful. We would highly recommend this cottage and look forward to returning next year. Thank you so much
Excellent communication with the hosts before & during our stay, so helpful & knowledgeable of the local area. Property is ideally situated for exploring the local area, nearby local amenities & the property itself was spotlessly clean, beautifully renovated & well stocked for all you needed. Would definitely recommend & stay again!
Bal and James have a lovely property which is ideal to explore the Peaks. James was there to greet us on arrival as they are on site for help and advice.
We had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage in September. It was perfect for two, the cottage is so beautiful, cosy, very clean and had everything we needed.
The layout is good with kitchen / living area upstairs. The bedroom downstairs is spacious and is next to a lovely bathroom with great shower. We used the outside storage for our bikes.
The cottage is in a perfect location to explore the Peak District, Stanage Edge is very close by. We did lots of Peak walks, there are walks from the door. We would recommend nearby Longshaw Estate too, it is National Trust but non-members only pay for parking.
Just opposite the cottage is The Plough, good for food, drinks of course or even just for a coffee. There are a choice of restaurants, pubs and a few shops down the road in Hathersage, a 15 min walk. We would recommend the Scotsman pub for food too.
James and Bal were welcoming and provided good information on walks etc. before our stay. They are on hand if you need anything but not intrusive at all, just happy to help and say what is around to do.
We are so pleased we stayed at the cottage and definitely would again.
Hi - we are James & Bal Rotherham. We live in The Hermitage which is the house adjacent to Pond View Cottage with our 2 boys. James was born in Hathersage and has never left! It has a great local community. I moved in to The Hermitage in 2000.
James owns and runs the Trout Farm located near to the Barn. The Farm produces brown and rainbow trout for restocking rivers and reservoirs. The Farm has been in existence for over 40 years.
We decided to lovingly restore the Barn and the Mill Pond to try and preserve their historical importance and archeological impact within the hamlet.
Pond View cottage is based in Hathersage, a beautiful part of the country, set within the Peak Park which was the first national park. There are lovely walks and great cycling country routes to suit everyone.
Hathersage is a popular place to visit for those that love the great outdoors or for those in search of legendary heroes such as Little John from the Robin Hood tales or literacy greats such as Charlotte Bronte. There is something on offer to suit most interests!
Pond View Cottage is situated in an excellent location in a very popular village with great amenities. It is stylish, cosy and contemporary with stunning views. It has the unique aspect of being located right next to a Mill Pond.
It offers a great base from which to explore the Peak District locations. The Owners are readily available to offer advice on where to visit.
There are great walks from the door step and a wonderful old country inn within 2 minutes walking distance that offers great food and beers & wine if you don't feel like cooking!
