The Space:
Colca Creek Tiny House is located in the rural township of Waitahuna, only 58 minutes from Dunedin and a short 9-minute drive from Lawrence. The Clutha Gold Trail Cycleway runs along the boundary of the property, and the Waitahuna Station Coffee Cart is just stones away.
What's more, we are only an hour's drive from Otago -New Zealand's South Island and Dunedin passing through Tunnel Beach Walk, Nugget Point, Mclean Falls, and Larnach Castle.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. The bathroom includes an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, a hand basin, and a gas-heated shower for hot showers.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We would like to ask guests to exercise caution as we have a creek running through the property. Please do not leave your children unsupervised and take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of others while on our premises.

Sightseeing:
- Larnach Castle is New Zealand's only Castle, offers an insight into Victorian Culture.
- Coghill Cottage is a local metalwork artist that features a variety of amazing sculptures to view.
- Four Square Supermarket in Lawrence offers fresh produce such as meat, vegetables, milk, and more.
- Mount Stuart Reserve is open year-round with lovely nature walks and great picnic spots, just 10 minutes from the tiny house.
- Mclean Falls is a trail up where you can listen to the native birds as you walk through beautiful Southland bush to a spectacular 22-metre cascade waterfall surrounded on both sides by dark-green mossy rocks.
- Nugget Point is an iconic panoramic platform on the Catlins coast with one of the country’s oldest lighthouses perched above the famous rocks named by Captain Cook because they looked like pieces of gold.
Food Scene:
- Spatula and Spoon is a bakery in the heart of Lawrence, their lamingtons are a hit.
- The Coach and Horses Inn in Lawrence is a 10-minute drive from the property that serves great pub meals for lunch and dinner.
- The Prospector Cafe in Lawrence has great coffee and food with a warm fire inside for cold days and a great outdoor area for when the sun is shining.
- The Waitahuna Station Coffee cart is open seasonally and is located by the historic Waitahuna Railway Station. It is a 5-minute walk from the Tiny House down the cycleway and provides great hot and cold food and drink.
- Weatherson Creek Food Truck is located at the Goldfields Campground in Lawrence, serving burgers/chips/craft beers. The Mango chicken burger is a favourite in this house and is open Thur-Sun from 5 pm every week
Getting Around:
By car:
- 1 hour, 80 km drive from Dunedin
- 10 minutes, 11 lm drive from Lawrence. All are reachable by 2WD.
By public transport:
- An Intercity bus travels once a day to and from Dunedin to Waitahuna.
- The stop leaves you 15 minutes away from the Tiny House, on the rail trail.
- To get to Lawrence is a 11 km journey via Estate Highway 8, or a 12 km bike ride or walk on the Clutha Gold Rail Trail. Car is the easiest method.
Other Things to Note:
- Farm experience is available by prior notice
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- No smoking allowed inside, except in designated areas
- We have two friendly sheep, and chickens on the property
- Expect farm animal or agricultural noise during your stay with us
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Given the creek running through the property, children are welcome under CLOSE ADULT SUPERVISION. Even so, please exercise caution, especially during rainy weather
Farm guidelines
- Always remember to shut the gates before entering and leaving the paddocks
- Please do not enter animal paddocks or yards without the land host's permission
- We also ask guests not to feed farm animals as they are on specific diets for their health
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more (or for bookings of 5 nights or more), an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
