My expectations were exceeded. Located right on the Watauga River and an excellent location for me as I was looking for a convenient rental for wading and fly fishing for Trout. The Suite was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and well stocked with basic essentials. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals in house and access to a clean grill outside was available. The Watauga River is a well known trout fishery and it was so convenient to walk out the back door and be in the river and fishing within a couple of minutes. If fishing is your thing the river does have power generator dams upstream so you need to be aware of the timing of the water releases and understand when it is safe to wade. The owners are very nice and they and their rental Suite definitely deserve a 5 Star plus rating.

Wonderful place to stay. Everything about River Suite was perfect and comfortable. Matt and Sue are incredible hosts, (and of course Zoe). Can’t wait to stay again.

Nice and peaceful

This was a quick trip with family obligations but the time spent at the property was great! Very relaxing sitting near the river and hearing the sounds of nature. Would stay again.

Wonderful COMFORTABLE Stay!

The Hosts, Matt & Sue, and of course Zoe, have thought of every possible need. I’ve stayed twice at the River Suite, and it’s always perfect. It is the cleanest, well stocked Vrbo, I’ve ever stayed in. The view is incredible. Looking forward to my next stay.

Cute rental with a great view!

The rental cottage was terrific! The accommodations exceeded our expectations. Not only was it immaculately clean and fully stocked, but the view was spectacular! Sue and Matt were gracious hosts. They were extremely friendly and responded immediately to our questions. We enjoyed our stay immensely! We definitely intend to stay here again on our next trip.

One of the best properties we have stayed at and we have stayed at quite a few. Very clean, spacious and they provide a lot of little extras you don’t normally see. Very personable but you have complete privacy. I would recommend 100%

Perfect Location

I chose this location to fly fish the Watauga and South Holston Rivers. The studio was located on a great stretch of the Watauga with excellent wade fishing in front of the property. It was also about 15 minutes from some good wading water on the South Holston. The tailwaters of both rivers were a short drive away. The studio was very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. Mike and Susan were great hosts and extremely helpful. I was at this location for a week and I would like to come back and stay longer.

Nice accommodation in Elizabethton. :)

We stayed here while visiting family to attend our niece's graduation & celebratory picnic afterwards. Unfortunately, this meant that we did not have time to just hang out & rest at the River Suite while there. The suite is clean & well supplied with the necessities. Be aware that the shower is very small & if you need a roomy shower this one will not suit your needs. Also, please note that the hosts do not want more than two people to stay here as they have concerns about strain on their septic system.

Don’t do it

The place is basically someone’s garage. There are no privacy. The two windows looking away from the bed are facing the property managers porch with no blinds or curtains. The shower is basically the size of a Barbie house. We did not stay, left 5 mins after getting there. The accommodations were horrible.

After going over your feedback with the homeowner, we'd like to clarify the following: - We’ve confirmed that we do state in the listing that the homeowner lives on-site, in a completely separate unit, and may be present during your stay. - The listing also states the square footage, and the listing photos show the size of the shower. While the photos show the two small windows without blinds, the owners have since installed them in part due to your feedback. - We are sorry if you felt caught off guard. We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs. The owners work hard to provide a 5-star experience for all guests, and we look forward to this home hosting many happy travelers!

A Truly Relaxing Gem

This is such a great property. It was perfect for our needs. We were in the area checking out colleges for my son. We were close enough to all of them and close enough to get some leisure activities in too. The unit is spotless and everything is brand new. There were many pros...too many to name. Being right on the water was therapeutic. I did book this because the photos showed a fire pit, but there currently is not one. It was a minor hiccup. I really did want to sit by the fire and listen to the water though. The shower is tiny but again...minor hiccup. The owners are very thorough and even had great list of activities and restaurants to try. We hiked Roan Mountain. It was awesome. As for eats...Timbers and White Duck Taco in Johnson City were awesome. Smokey Mountain Bakery had great pizza but I would not go back. The place is kind of gross and it was overrun with flies. I'd say stay away. We only ate because we were short on time and extremely hungry. I would have liked to get to some of the other recommendations. We researched them and they sounded great. As for the review of the person who walked in and left, I read that to my 16-year-old son and his response was "How the heck could you walk in the front door, see how awesome this place is, and then see the view out the back and want to leave? That person is crazy." I concur.

Loved the back deck!

This place was perfect for a long weekend with hubby. It was immaculate with thoughtful touches throughout: snacks and coffee, phone charger, and robes in the bathroom closet. Close to state parks with fishing, kayaking and hiking. Any time we were not out we loved spending time on the back deck where we saw deer, tons of songbirds at the feeder, hummingbirds at rivers edge, and osprey diving into to the river to get their next meal. We loved it and will definitely visit again.

Peaceful vacation

The Riverhouse was perfect for my son and myself. It was so peaceful to check out for a few days and enjoy all the sounds of nature and the beautiful scenery. Listening to the River in the morning and afternoons, trying to fish (lol), watching all the birds and even some deer across the river. It was exactly what we needed. It was a perfect spot for all Elizabethton, Johnson City and Bristol have to offer. We enjoyed some trails, waterfalls, and downtown of each city. Matt and Sue were the perfect host too!! We hope to come back soon!!!

Wonderful Birthday Weekend

Matt was a wonderful host. Making sure I had everything I needed and giving suggestions on things to see, do and where to eat. River Suite is a quaint and charming place. It was clean and easy to firgure out the ins and outs of everything. Lots of seating. The bed was comfortable. Loved the view! So many things to do in that area. I would definitely stay there again.

PERFECT and RELAXING!!

Matt and Sue are great hosts. High-end studio finishes. Wish we could stay longer, very relaxing, enjoyed the river and wildlife. Even got to see a Bald Eagle eating a fish. Definitely recommend.

Peaceful and clean

The place was clean, check and out easy, close to stores and trails and fishing (I don't fish, but if you did, the river is literally right there.). It was quiet and perfect for me to just get away for a few days. The owners are very nice and welcoming.
