Deborah's cozy Refuge in the Heart of Montrose was perfect for my husband, adult son, and me while visiting for graduation weekend. Parking and check-in were a breeze, and Deborah had penned a welcome note for us. The apartment is very clean, the beds are comfy, and the bathrooms have plentiful bath supplies. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, with drinks and wine in the fridge and fruit and snacks for us. Deborah's guide book offered terrific suggestions for nearby dining. We walked to Hugo's for dinner and then to Voodoo Doughnut for a sweet treat. The location is ideal and was so quiet and relaxing during our busy stay. The courtyard in back is lovely and peaceful. We explored the neighborhood, visited the Menil Collection, and had a fun day at the Houston Zoo. Deborah introduced herself, and it was a joy to meet her and chat. We didn't want to leave, but when it was time, check-out was simple and stress-free, with no chores. Thank you for making us feel at home. We'll be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Refuge in Montrose. The apartment was perfect for two couples with separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Everything was spic and span and Deborah stopped by to say hi and welcome us. She is wonderful! The purpose of our trip was to see a special exhibit at the MFAH along with the Great Elephant Migration in Hermann Park. The location is ideal with good restaurants, coffee shops and bars within a short driving distance from the apartment. We will be staying here again on future trips to Houston.
Well maintained old-style apartment. Reminds me of past times - but everything worked well. Looked just like the photos. Would recommend. Excellent communication (messaging) with the host. Easy to access. Parking on street a little challenging, but not a problem most of the time , especially after business hours. Nitas close to MD Anderson As I would have liked, but just had to allow more travel time
This lovely home is always our first choice when visiting Houston - comfy beds, spotless, great dining area that easily doubles as a spacious work station, two en-suite bathrooms, fully stocked kitchen, snacks and wine waiting for us, great location. I could go in and on.
This was our second stay in this lovely home and we will be back. It is comfortable, spotless, and welcoming. Deborah and Anton are great hosts, going above and beyond. The floor plan is perfect for us and our adult son, and the location puts us near all the people and places we came to Houston to visit.
Deborahâs apartment was the perfect choice for us in Houston while I recuperated from surgery at MD Anderson. Well equipped kitchen, comfy bed. Comfortable furnishings, quiet and very walkable to wonderful restaurants. We did have a car but we felt very safe and walked around the neighborhood daily. I do recommend visiting the Art Museum which was close by.
We had a wonderful time in Houston and really enjoyed our stay! The apartment is lovely, very clean and has lots of thoughtful extra touches. Easy parking right outside the door. We felt safe and comfortable walking around the area. Highly recommend!
We had such a wonderful stay in this adorable home. Perfect location. They provided all the comforts of a hotel stay including coffee, creamer, shower supplies etc that some vrbos omit. High end look and feel. 10/10 would be back! Thanks for having us :)
The property was so nice for what I was looking for. A place closer into Houston, but quiet and relaxing. The space was so beautiful and clean. I will for sure recommend others to stay here and hopefully I will be too!
Had a great time with the kids on a long bday weekend. The host was great and on top of it all, the place was well kept, free parking right up from and the location is close to everything. Would stay again
This is basically the perfect rental experience. I visited Houston with my brothers for a weekend trip to watch baseball, and the host responded immediately to my booking. She then followed up as the trip got closer to let me know when to expect check in details and then followed through on that with everything we would need.
The check in was incredible easy and the place is exactly as described, super clean and with two huge bedrooms. The dining and living areas were spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen had everything you would need.
The host had left a personalized note and a bottle of wine for us, and then messaged appropriately during the weekend to ensure things were going smoothly and inform us of checkout process. We tidied up a bit, but there was none of the pages of rules you come to expect from a rental - just drop the keys and they take care of the laundry and such.
The neighborhood is also fantastic, and the apartment is walking distance from some fantastic restaurants, and Montrose as a neighborhood is as close to everything you would want to do as you can expect in Houston. If you drive, there is parking right outside the unit.
Everything about this was ideal and I will definitely book here again for future trips.
A friend and I stayed for a long weekend in this beautiful home. The home had todayâs modern conveniences, but kept the charm of a 1930-40 bungalow. Beautiful wood floors look original, and had an updated small kitchen overlooking the charming garden. There was plenty of room for two and would be good for two couples. We ate at a great restaurant just steps away, and were so close to Rice Univ and the Montrose area. The host was more than nice and helpful. Never had to wait for a response. Even helped to carry our bags out. This will be our go-to stay in Houston from now on.
Such a warm, comfortable place for a relaxing weekend in Houston! The best kitchen we've had for a short term rental, quite well stocked!
Convenient location to venues and great restaurants!
Host has thought of every touch to make this a special place. The great reviews are well-deserved!
Pretty bungalow with outdoor space. Host was very nice and helpful- great location and close to downtown. Definitely recommend and will stay here again.
Took my 92 years old father to Houston to see his granddaughter for Easter weekend. Anton met us upon arrival at night with the property well lit, helping us get settled. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, fruit, water, snacks, as well as a personal note. The property was well stocked with bath towels and toiletries. Deborah communicated well throughout the entire process. The neighborhood is walkable to many great restaurants and coffee shops. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.
Ideal location, ideal size, ideal for us. 3 people in Houston for Foto Fest who dined in one night (tip-top kitchen) and also ate out nearby. Very tranquil and quiet at night. Also Menil and St Thomas nearby.
We enjoyed our 4 night stay in this very comfortable and spacious townhouse in Montrose. The location is excellent, within walking distance to several restaurants and supermarkets. The very well equipped kitchen provided us with everything we needed to cook a delicious dinner which we enjoyed in the attractively furnished dining room. An ideal home away from home.
This felt like home from the minute we stepped in. We then saw the welcoming flowers, snacks, fruit and bottle of wine in the fridge. The apartment feels calm and stylish, is spacious and cozy with lovely corners to sit in, was so comfortable and had everything we needed and a place for everything The patio area was delightful to be in and look out on.
The location was perfect with shops and restaurants nearby, lovely tree-lined streets to walk in and close to all the places we wanted to go to and people we wanted to see.
Deborah was a charming host, gave us all the information we needed, was responsive and the check in and check out were flawless.
We will make this our home again on our visits to Houston.
Thank you Deborah.
1920s home is beautiful and comfortable for two couples. Snacks upon arrival! Every morning I sat in the backyard by the koi pond and meditated. The neighborhood is close to yummy restaurants and unique boutiques. Most things were a 10 to 20 min walk away. It was the perfect place for us!
We are both professionals and have lived in Houston for almost 20 years. We love to travel, but we find comfort in returning to the peace and quiet of our home. We enjoy having dinner parties with friends, walking, reading, undertaking different projects around the house, meeting new people.
We fell in love with this duplex when we first visited it. We loved the light, the windows and the size and layout were perfect for us. Anton personally did most of the complete remodeling that we undertook while we lived in the upstairs apartment. It was a labor of love! We knew we wanted to live in an older home and preserve some bit of history in Houston. Van Buren is a calm street amid an increasingly bustling neighborhood. Most everything is within walking distance. We still live upstairs, but have lived in both units and love each for their own unique characteristics.
The aspects we love most about the downstairs unit that is available for booking are:
--high ceilings --spacious kitchen/breakfast nook --easy first-floor access --two bathrooms (one with tub and the other with shower) --view of backyard
